Fostering Mayes County

We have a young man who is struggling to find a placement to go to. We are need some groceries/food while he waits on placement. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A 15 yr old boy was placed in a kinship placement of a single foster parent. The foster placement is brand new and has not completed all the training. The foster placement is not receiving the stipend to care for the child. This particular child has had some behavior problems in the past when he was adopted which resulted in him entering back into care. The single female foster parent has reached out in need of assistance for two things. The child has made a lot of new friends in foster parents church and wants to go with the Youth Group to church camp but needs assistance with the funds to attend camp. Foster parent would have been able to make payments but the boys was not placed with her less than a month ago and the deadline for church camp fees is this coming Sunday. She is hoping the Youth Group will hold his place until the fee is paid. Also the foster parent is in need of a dresser to store the child's clothing. Foster parent has been searching but is unable to find anything suitable and affordable.

This foster family has kept foster kids for years. They currently have 4 foster kids and 3 of their own. 3 new ones just came into the home. The families washing machine went out and they are having to wash at a facility. One of the children has accidents at night and they need to wash daily. This would help this great family and the kids

The natural parents have 2 children in foster care. One of the children is a newborn. The family is homeless and needs help with transportation. A bus pass could really help with them as they work to get housing and jobs.

Biofather of three young kids is in need of a bus pass to get to and from service providers in town. Taking the bus is the only mode of transportation for biofather at this time. Thank you in advance!

I have a family who needs help paying some of their bills. The family recently lost a family member which affected their income. The family is made up of a grandmother raising her two grandchildren. She is asking for help paying some of her utility bills including her gas bill ($105), electric ($75) and water ($135). Later this month the family will be moving to more affordable housing.

We have a female teen who is in need of clothing items in placement. She has worked extremely hard to graduate school early and help out her foster parents. This teen wears a size Large in both shirt and pant. We are asking for age appropriate clothing, as she is closer to being an adult and has grown out of previous clothing items. Meeting this need would help preserve the financial strain on the placement provider.

A child who was placed in DHS custody 2 weeks ago will be turning 18 years old on Saturday. She's currently in a youth shelter in Ardmore and as we were planning for her transition to adulthood, we realized there are things she needs we haven't been able to provide due to the short time in DHS custody.

When she returns to Tulsa on Saturday, she will need a Tulsa bus pass and a pre paid cell phone so she can get around Tulsa to apply for housing, attend medical appointments and look for a job. She plans to be a server until she can go to cosmetology school or veterinary tech school.

The Oklahoma Successful Adulthood program can assist her in the future but not before Saturday.

Please consider assisting this youth transition to adulthood.

A sweet family took placement of a child in March, and they are not receiving any financial assistance from OKDHS at this time. Throughout the placement, the family has managed their finances well. After paying their monthly expenses at their original location this month, they were informed their landlord sold the property and requested the family to move immediately; after making all required bill payments and rent at the location. The family has located a new residence. They were able to make the initial deposit and take care of moving expenses. However, they are now short of $300 for rent for the new residence. They have reached out to community resources and have been unsuccessful with obtaining assistance. As a last resort the family has reached out to OKDHS for assistance to help cover the remaining $300. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Without having the added expenses for the future months to come, the family will be back on track in managing their bills. The family and I thank you for any assistance you can provide.

A mom is leaving a long-term relationship featuring domestic violence needs a bus pass to attend services and court. She's a loving mom and making lots of steps early in the case to correct the conditions and make it safe for her baby to return to her care. She is doing well in services and is maintaining her safety as best she can.

Please help this single mom of 3 kids with her car troubles. This mom who just reunified, has worked hard to get her and her children a vehicle so she could get them to all of their medical and services appointments. She is currently having car troubles with her 2015 Jeep Patriot Sport 4WD, she believes the radiator has a hole in it and she would benefit from having someone who knows cars take a look at it and help her fix it. A biological father who is experiencing hardship after a return for prison and his children are in DHS custody. He is working from the ground up to rebuild his life to provide a better future for his children with the hopes they can reunify. This father has no transportation and has been walking every day to his current job. A bicycle would be helpful to get him around and make is easier for him to get to other places for the things he needs. He is interested in finding better employment and could use some socks, pants, and shirts to do so.
