Family Hope Coalition

A blended family that has limited income was referred to us through the Family First program, which is designed to prevent the need for children coming into foster care. The worker is looking for connections within the community to help the teens pursue activities and skills they're interested in. FIRST was able to provide an acoustic guitar and a membership to the local zoo, but there are still many other things that would be beneficial to the teens listed here:

--Male youth aged 18 is a music artist, he has music written and working on a YouTube channel. He is interested in being able to record and edit his own music --Female youth aged 15 is an artist, she can draw very well, is interested in art supplies, paint , canvas, easel etc. --Twin male youth ages 16 have an eye for photography. They take photos with cell phones but would greatly benefit from actual cameras that are geared for taking the captures that these boys have taken of nature, animals etc.

If you are interested in helping to purchase any of these items or have connections to those with these skills, any help is greatly appreciated! Opportunities to pursue interests like these will be very beneficial to the teens overall well-being and to their family as a whole.

A thirteen-year-old girl needs a window/portable AC Unit for her bedroom. Her bedroom is the only room in the home that does not have access to air conditioning, nor does it have a window/portable unit to help cool her room during extremely hot days. She was not able to sleep or spend any time in her own bedroom during the recent heat wave that had temperatures over 100 degrees for multiple days. An A/C unit would allow her to be able to safely sleep or spend time, generally, in her own bedroom.

A single mother has recently been approved for reunification with her child. In order for this process to be completed, she is kindly asking for assistance to obtain a bed, mattress, and bedding set for her son. This mother has worked tirelessly over the last year to be reunited with her son, including attending counseling, finding employment, and obtaining stable housing. Securing these items will be the last step to ensure this child can return home to his mother permanently.

This request is for an intact family. The mother and daughter moved into their home after it needed some restoration work done. Prior to moving into this home, the family was homeless. This is why they don't have basic home furnishings. They are need of basic necessities to help furnish their new home. Providing this family with the requested items will help them fill out their home and give the family a sense of normalcy in their new home.

This family is in need of a twin sized bed frame and twin mattress for the one child. The child is currently sleeping in a pull-out day bed that they are outgrowing. If this need is met, the child's wellbeing will be improved by improving the child's quality of sleep which impact their day to day functioning.

A grandmother is now caring for her two teenage granddaughters, who had previously been adopted by another family member. The children were living in a different state with their adoptive parent, but came to live with their grandmother in Delaware due to challenges in the adoptive home. The girls have experienced significant trauma and have mental health needs. Grandmother has worked very hard to try to meet their needs. The family recently had to move into a bigger home (which other family members were living in previously) and have had a lot of unexpected expenses over the last few months including car repairs. This has led to financial challenges and has led the family to be able to purchase some items for the girls and to be struggling with repairs needed for their house.

The family could use assistance obtaining new clothing for the girls (especially summer clothes), and a small couch for their living room, as they are unable to all sit together in the living room now.

Clothing sizes: 13 year old girl- girl's child size 16/18 or juniors' size 5/7. Shoe size 7.5 16 year old girl- women's size 12/14, shoe size 8

These resources are grandparents caring for their grandson, age 2. The grandmother is retired, and grandfather has medical challenges that limit his ability to work, therefore limiting the household income. The resources are seeking help with clothing for their grandson for summer, as he has quickly grown out of his clothing. Any help is appreciated.
