Flatlands Reformed Church

We are currently assisting a single mother residing in Brooklyn with her four children. One of her children has been enrolled in our mentorship program, and we have been working to support the family through ongoing challenges. The mother has faced significant hardship, including housing insecurity and severely limited access to basic resources. She is currently unable to afford food and has exhausted her food stamp benefits, leaving the family without adequate nutrition. Additionally, one of the daughters does not have a dresser, limiting the family’s ability to maintain an organized and dignified living space. We are requesting the following urgent support for this family: Emergency food assistance to feed all four children and stabilize the family’s immediate nutritional needs. One dresser for the daughter, to provide a proper space for storing her belongings and to support a more organized home environment. The mother has a scheduled appointment with HRA (Human Resources Administration) today in an effort to seek further assistance. In the meantime, immediate support would greatly relieve the stress on this family and contribute to their sense of security and dignity. We appreciate your consideration in helping this family during a critical time.

A soon-to-be 16 year old young man is living with his single mother and older brother in a NYCHA complex in Brownsville, having recently lost his father to cancer. His mother is currently out of work and he has recently been the victim of school and neighborhood bullying. He has been practicing guitar for about a year now and has been active in music program participation at BCJC. Unfortunately, he has no tablet or computer at home and we are requesting one for this participant to use at home. He is currently on probation and can only leave home to go to school and BCJC. We are requesting a tablet for his use at home, so he can work on homework, in addition to further develop the music engineering and production skills he has begun learning at BCJC's music programs.
