I have an 18 year old senior in high school who has recently become unhoused. He is currently staying with random friends and needs a place to stay for the next 6 weeks until graduation. He has a part time job but it is not enought to cover all of his needs. He needs gas cards to pay for gas to get to work, school and to get where he can find a place to stay, a hotel voucher if possible, food gift cards, and Walmart gift cards. We are able to provide some necessities here at the school but not everything. He is trying very hard to make sure he is safe and that he can attend school every day and make it to graduation. He is joining the military and goes to bootcamp in July, so he is really trying to be successful. He just needs a little help right now.

A grandmother is requesting food assistance for herself and special needs grandson she takes care of.

A resilient caregiver in our community is in urgent need of support to remain stable in her new home after leaving a domestic violence situation last year. She is the biological mother of two and recently became the legal guardian of her 4-year-old niece after the child’s mother passed away and CPS intervened. After months of housing instability, the family was finally able to move into a new home this January, but the cost of the security deposit and first month’s rent depleted her savings. She is now requesting support toward February’s rent to avoid falling further behind. Additionally, she has had to reduce her work hours to care for her niece, who is not yet eligible for school enrollment due to her birthdate. Their food assistance has also been significantly reduced, compounding the strain. Any help to stabilize this family and ensure the niece can remain safely in her care would be deeply appreciated.

The NMD resides in Tucson, Arizona and is in need of assistance with dog food and a grocery store gift card. His car is currently not working, preventing him from continuing Grubhub deliveries, which was his source of income. Despite this, the NMD has remained committed to his case plan goals and court orders. He has applied for a job at AutoZone and is awaiting a start date.

The NMD has no family support and is learning to live independently. He has been relying solely on himself and remains motivated to meet his goals. He was working hard through Grubhub until his vehicle broke down, which has created a temporary hardship.

Through my work with the NMD, I’ve identified key strengths: he is hardworking, motivated, resilient, and determined. His goal is to continue working and supporting himself until he can move closer to his support network.

I am requesting this need be fulfilled to help the NMD continue caring for himself while waiting for his job to begin. DCFS has provided food bank referrals and will continue linking the NMD to community resources to support his stability and successful emancipation. For additional items, I will explore DCFS funding and in-house donations.

This need is being requested through CarePortal as DCFS does not currently have a way to provide immediate support such as grocery cards or dog food.

After recently being released from juvenile hall, a teenage boy is working hard to rebuild his life and adjust to a new chapter. He was placed in a caregiver's home—a placement made with good intentions but limited resources. The caregiver, while willing and supportive, was not fully prepared for the unique needs of an older youth. The only bed available is too small, leaving the young man’s legs hanging off the edge each night. There's also no proper space for him to store his belongings, which only adds to the instability he's trying so hard to escape. This youth is trying to move forward—eager to find a sense of normalcy, safety, and dignity. But something as simple as not having a proper bed can be a daily reminder of how difficult starting over can be. To preserve this placement and support the youth's path forward, the caregiver is in need of a full-size bed, a dresser, and a bedding set. With these basic essentials, the youth can finally rest—literally and emotionally—in a space that feels like his own.

Caller rental home was effected by Eaton fire previous zip code 91001. Caller reported difficulties, since housing is double in price from what they were previously paying . Caller reported all household members work and have to travel longer distance since they had to relocate causing them to spend more on gas. Reported everything in home was lost including clothing, work shoes, tv's and much more including 3 vehicles. Caller express interest in receiving help with groceries, gas, home goods any financial assistance to help them recover.

After experiencing long-term homelessness and instability, this resilient single mom of two teen age girls, is finally on the path towards rebuilding their lives. Mom's determination has gained her steady employment and have recently been able to move into an apartment they now call home. Bit by bit, they've been working hard to gather the essential household items, creating a safe and stable space for themselves and their children.

While they've made great progress, they are still in need of some basic furniture to help bring comfort and functionality to their home. Currently, they do not have dressers, making it difficult to keep their clothes organized. A couch for their living area is also needed. A simple, yet meaningful addition that would allow the family a place to relax and rest after long days of work and school.

This family has overcome significant challenges with strength and perseverance. Your support will help complete their home and practical needs, yet also reinforce their sense of stability, dignity and hope.

We are reaching out for support with a student's extracurricular activities. Our student is currently in his elderly grandma's care as a voluntary DCFS placement because his biological parents are unable to provide a safe home at the moment. Student and his 70 year old grandmother live out of a motel which is all grandmother can afford. Student has had a history of behavior challenges due to childhood trauma, but has made some improvements recently. He has joined a baseball team to redirect his energy into a positive and supervised activity after school, which he is enjoying. However, student needs new baseball equipment including cleats and baseball pants. We would like to provide student with a gift card to Big 5 or Dick's Sporting Goods for his sports equipment. Additionally, we would love to support grandmother with money for gas to transport student, as well as some support with groceries. Thank you all so much for your generosity!

This request is made on behalf of an English learner student who is on his way to graduate! He lives with his mom who is facing financial difficulties and cannot cover the cost of graduation. We are requesting assistance with getting him some senior spirit to celebrate this once in a lifetime opportunity and achievement. We are also asking for assistance with getting him a cap and gown to support his mom who is looking forward to watching him walk across the stage.

On March 7, 2025, a local family was awakened by a devastating fire that has left their home uninhabitable, as determined by the LAFD. They lost everything in the fire and are now facing severe housing insecurity.Their most immediate need is temporary shelter while they search for a new place to live. Financial assistance will help cover hotel expenses during this difficult transition. Any support provided will bring much-needed relief and stability to this family as they work to rebuild their lives.
