One of her biggest challenges right now is the lack of reliable transportation. It’s already been difficult getting to her treatment appointments, and she’s concerned that once her daughter is home, managing school, appointments, and daily needs will become even more challenging. She has big goals; she plans to enroll in technical school this fall and hopes to place her daughter in preschool. Reliable transportation would be a critical step in helping her achieve these dreams and continue providing a stable, nurturing environment for her child. Hi Community, We're reaching out for your support to help remove a transportation barrier for a mom who is working hard on her permanency plan. Unfortunately, she does not have a reliable means of transportation. We're kindly requesting a donated bus pass to support her in attending visits with her daughter and appointments with treatment providers. These family visits are crucial; they help strengthen the parent-child bond and greatly increase the chances of reunifying families. Any support you can offer is deeply appreciated. We have a mom who is needing assistance to turn her water back on in her home. This mom has been working with DHS very diligently to get her kiddos back in her home. She is needing help with her water bill due to some financial strain she has experienced. This mom has provided DHS with the paperwork that shows this is an immediate need and has been very forthright about needing assistance. Family visitations with her and her children take place in her home weekly. This need being fulfilled will alleviate financial stress from this mom. As well as keep her family time in the most comfortable space for the children.

A Kinship Foster Care family is in need of a twin bunkbed and mattresses to provide adequate sleeping arrangements for several addtional children placed in their home. This is an urgent need by a family who has graciously taken on the responsibility of caring for their younger loved ones. Your help is greatly appreciated!

The Department is working with a mother who has transitioned to a sober living. She is needing assistance to cover the rent. She has a plan in covering the majority of the rent, and is working with the staff of her sober living to pay in installments. For any help, I will connect with the mother directly. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a young man who was just discharged after a 7 month hospital stay. He is wheelchair dependent and NPO (fed through a Micky Button). He is looking for a hook holder for his wheelchair to carry his feeding bag and his pump. He is in Trial Reunification with the parents but funds are tight at this time. A single mother of three who also has three foster children in her care needs a new twin mattress for one of her foster children. The current mattress is no longer useable as the child has had regression in bed-wetting. This foster mother has spent time cleaning the bedding, the mattress, and all the areas of the bedroom to keep the room clean and fresh-smelling. Please help this mother by giving the home a new mattress for their little guy. It would also be helpful if the mattress came with a good mattress cover to secure its usability for years to come.

Natural mother preparing to reunify with her child is in need of a car seat for a 2 year old. Right now she is sharing with natural father and foster parents, but will soon need to have a full time seat available to her. Thank you for any assistance in this matter.

Biological mom and dad's car has broke down and has halted their transportation. Parents are having to walk back and forth through the elements along with carrying groceries the whole way. The parents will benefit from bus passes to help them until the car can get repaired.

I am working with a biological family of three. Mom is fully engaged in services and provides all transportation for her two toddlers for their two overnight visits each week. Mom is employed full time and is the only source of income in the house. Mom is responsible for the care of the children while they are in her care and does not qualify for food stamps. She is actively reviewing her monthly budget with a daily spending log and is continually looking for opportunities to cut expenses. Mom is requesting assistance with a gas card and groceries as she identifies community resources, establishes a manageable budget, and reduces travel expenses.

I am working with a biological family of two. Mom and her two year old son are currently in trial reunification. Mom is in a vulnerable place right now but is working hard to establish her independence. She has begun working with a staffing company for employment and is actively seeking income based apartments or sober living for herself and her son. Perhaps the biggest barrier Mom has to achieving her independence is transportation, because she does not have a personal vehicle and cannot afford car payments. Lack of a personal vehicle greatly minimizes job opportunities and housing options that Mom is able to apply to and/or accept. Mom will not be able to afford a car payment and is not particular about the vehicle she drives, so if there is a vehicle out there that has been donated, Mom would be MOST grateful (and blessed!) to be the recipient of that vehicle. Hello! We are asking you to please help a family with a carpet shampooer. These parents continue to work very hard to reunite with their children. They have been able to obtain an apartment and furnish it to provide a safe space for their children to reside in. With having little children and a small dog, they are struggling with keeping the carpet to a healthy level of clean. These parents would love to be able to ensure their floors are clean for their toddler to run around on and the infant to start crawling on. Providing them with a carpet shampooer will ensure they are able to regularly clean the carpets, providing a safe and clean area for their young children.
