The guardian is an older mother (61 years old) and her daughter is 13 years old. The guardian is a single mother who seeks to support her daughter with her emotional, physical, and mental health needs. The guardian is transitioning to her own home after living in a homeless shelter for a few months. She was able to experience support and have her needs met while there, and is in need of tangible items to help support her in this new chapter of independence.

Hello, LDSS is asking for assistance with getting child locks for a single mother. These child locks will be used for the fridge and cabinets. At least 2 lever child locks will be needed for the front and back door.

We have a client who has been in a Domestic Violence Shelter for several months. She is employed. She recently found housing with Miriam's House and is going to be moving into her own home with her children. The children have to change school districts. They are moving forward in life and making a new start. Our client has had her furniture and personal items in storage units for over a year, since being evicted from her home due to Domestic Violence. Her abuser had promised to pay the storage fee since he is the one who got the family evicted. He abandoned payments, resulting in high storage fees. She will be moving into her new home soon, and would love to be able to get her furniture and family items out of storage, as they have nothing. Getting her furniture will result in a safe home and help keep her kids and family together.

I am currently serving a Kinship/Adoptive mom caring for her 10-year-old son. Due to a recent injury, the mother is preparing for emergency surgery and needs temporary care for her 10-year-old son during her recovery (about one week). The surgical process starts July 3rd. He’s a bright and curious child with several diagnoses, including ADHD, High Functioning Autism, PTSD, DMDD, and Tourette’s. (There are more details, as he is a complex child, that will be shared with those who are considering hosting). He communicates well but may stutter or cough when explaining things, however, patience helps him feel heard and supported.

There have been past challenges with aggression toward his adoptive mom, but he just started intensive in-home counseling, which will continue through the week and can offer added support to the host family. He also attends a summer schooling program, that will provide support during weekdays.

The family would be grateful for a compassionate family or individual who can provide a calm, safe, and understanding environment while his mother recovers. I am working with a mother and father, who have a young child- and are struggling with lack of financial resources to replace the door to their home. They currently do not have a front door- it is entirely broken, and just props up on the frame at night but is not at all attached. It is a safety hazard to the family to not have a door to their home, putting them at risk of harm. Any assistance that could be provided to this family to either obtain a new door, or help them put the door in would be greatly appreciated.

I am working with a single mother of 7 children, with minimal support and money- who is in need of child proofing door handles. Some door alarms have already been provided to her, but she could benefit from the door handles as well- to keep her young children inside at all times- as some of her children are very young.

A family of six is currently experiencing significant hardship and is in urgent need of assistance with obtaining cell phones and food. The parents of four daughters are currently homeless and lack access to a phone, which severely limits their ability to communicate with service providers, DSS, and other community resources. The communication barrier has prevented their ability to receive the support they need, however, with consistent communication the family can be provided more effective assistance.

Additionally, the family does not have access to food or water on days when community resources are unavailable. They also do not have transportation at this which has further hindered their situation.

Despite these obstacles, the family has demonstrated initiative by actively seeking out available resources and has clearly expressed a strong desire for help in order to be available for their children. Fulfillment of these needs will empower these parents to move forward in their goals and improve their well-being.

It is noted that two phones would be helpful, however, one will suffice if necessary.

A family of 6 is currently in emergent need of housing. The family is comprised of two grandparents caring for their four granddaughters; one of which is only a few weeks old. This family has recently been evicted from their home and have been staying in a motel while searching for housing, however, they will no longer have the funds to continue their stay past 6/17. With no housing the children are at risk of coming into foster care as they need a safe environment to reside. This risk could be resolved with the extension of the motel while the Department assists the family in finding housing.

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out on behalf of a dedicated single father who is working hard to provide a safe and stable environment for his two young daughters. He is currently in urgent need of two car seats to ensure his girls can travel safely and legally.

Despite financial challenges, this father is doing everything he can to meet his children’s needs. However, the cost of car seats is currently beyond his reach, and he would be incredibly grateful for any assistance or donation to help secure these essential items.

We are looking for:

One car seat suitable for a toddler age 3

One car seat for a younger child or infant age 1

I am working with a single mother, of three children who has two jobs to support her family. She is in need of some bunk beds, for her daughters room. Any help that could be given to her, would be greatly appreciated.

The mother and 4 children were deemed to have been residing in poor/unsafe living conditions. The building inspector had deemed the residence to be an unsafe structure with multiple repairs needed before the family could reside in the home. As of 06/16/2025, the home was inspected, and the inspector granted the family permission to enter the home because some of the requirements had been completed. The children are in need of appropriate bedding. The beds were deemed unsafe. Bunk beds or twin beds are needed, new or used. The family would need mattresses and appropriate coverings for the beds. The home is also in need of a couch, new or gently used, for the living room area. The couch that is in the home is in poor condition and needs to be transported to the county dump. The mother has no transportation and relies on a friend or anyone that can assist herself and family.
