LCS staff have been contacted by a single mother of 2 children for assistance with groceries for the month of May. Currently, she is having to prioritize where funding go within the home and is struggling to cover all her bases.

If possible, could this family be provided with gift cards that are "grocery" specific so this is one less thing they have to juggle during the month of May.

LCS staff received a call from a family who needs assistance with the balance on their electricity bill of $200. Mom has been keeping up the balance to the best of her ability but been taking funds from other things to avoid their electricity being cut off all together.

A family has recently undergone a house fire and lost all of their belongings. This family has specifically requested help in getting their 7 year-old daughter some new clothes and belongings. The child wears 10/12 clothes and wears shoe size 1. She will also need undergarments, socks, and any essential items- as she has lost everything.

Anything to help is appreciated.

Domestic Violence mom, who is in "hiding" from her abuser, just find out she is due to have her 5th child, next month. This mom has been able to come up with things for the baby in such a short amount of time with the exception of a car seat. If this request is granted, mom has requested that worker to be given the seat and brought to her, if possible.

Single mother who moved to the Lynchburg area with her elementary aged son and daughter. Mom has made sure the kid have almost everything they need, often neglecting herself. Mom just has a mattress on the floor, is in need of a bed frame, and 2 dressers.

Mom of two. Son have significant behavioral concerns that causes him to run out of the home. Mom lives about 500 ft from a busy main road. Mom would like safety locks for the front and back door. Another need is dressers for mom and 2 kids (1 girl, 1 boy).

Mom who has been in a Domestic Violence relationship, recent incident cause mom to have an busted lip, dislocated jaw that is requiring her to need reconstructive surgery. This family is in need of a bed for mom as she has been sleeping on an air mattress since she moved in Nov. and a sofa to give her and her son a place to sit, so they don't have to spend all their time in the bedroom.

Mom, with 3 kids, just had her 4th baby a little early, in need of a diaper bag. States that she has pretty much everything else.

Single mom raising two young children, a 2-year old boy and a 7-year-old girl. Summer is fast approaching, and when the school year ends, the 7-year-old will need childcare so that mom can continue to work. Mom would love for her daughter to be enrolled in a summer camp, but she cannot afford any of the ones that she has found so far. This young girl, in the 2nd grade, is reading at a 5th grade level! She is not only academically gifted, but is also sweet, sensitive, and kind. Mom just recently got back on her feet after a number of setbacks, including the loss of her own mother, who was her only stabile family support, and the realization that she could not continue to put herself through nursing school and work the long shift hours with two young children, and no help. Mom is the sole income-provider and has been fighting to give her children a better life. Mom has found a new job that she loves and that accommodates her schedule with her children, but it does not pay much. Mom has plans to go back to school to be an Ultrasound Technician within the next year. Any support in helping fund her daughter's enrollment in a summer camp is very much appreciated! For a cost breakdown, it is $50 a month for her daughter to attend the same daycare that her son goes to, and summer lasts 6 weeks.

The parents are really working hard to get by, but they could use some support right now. The kids could use some clothes, especially in season items, and some basic self-care products like deodorant, body wash, lotion, and curly hair products. Mother just had a baby and was unable to pay her electric bill. She is unable to return to her home without electricity with a newborn baby. She is requesting assistance paying her electric bill.

I am working with a sweet family composed of a mother and her four children ages 17, 15, 13, and 11. This mom is the sole caretaker of these growing children and has been doing her best to provide for them. Mom has recently secured a full time job after months of unemployment. She is trying her best to catch up with all her expenses while taking care of teenagers, but she is facing barriers.

Most pressing, with a language barrier, this mother has recently been scammed by a gas company and is required to pay a large bill of $676 for her gas in the home. This bill is almost 7x what her bill usually is. If she does not pay it by 4/24/25, her gas will be cut off. This is stressful as the mother is unable to pay this.

Additionally, her sons are growing very fast and mom is having difficulty keeping up with clothing them. I would love to be able to provide these boys with some clothes and shoes that fit them. The boys sizes are: 17 year old: Large pants (or size32), Large shirts, and size 9.5 shoes 15 year old: xxL shirts, xxl pants (size 38), and size 10.5 shoe 13 year old: Large pants, large shirts, size 8.5 shoes
