A caregiver is looking for support in the form of an electric stove. She is the great-aunt and primary caregiver to her two great-nieces, ages 12 and 8, and her nephew, age 10. She has had legal custody of the children since 2020, after they were removed from their mother's care. Since then, she has provided them with a stable, loving, home environment where they feel safe and cared for. Recently, the caregiver’s stove ceased functioning. She has looked for assistance locally and could not find anyone with low or no-cost appliances, so she is making do with a microwave and deep fryer to fix food at this time. She recently had her fridge break also, but was able to find a replacement for this showing her resourcefulness. We are seeking assistance in obtaining a new electric stove (typical size- around 30 inches wide by 25-27 inches deep and 36-41 inches high) to support this caregiver in her ability to provide homecooked meals for her household. A loving aunt has been caring for her nephew since his mother passed away in 2018. She only recently made it through the court process to obtain custody and is working tirelessly to ensure her nephew has everything he needs. Her current concern is rent. She is self-employed at a hair salon and has been picking up as many side jobs as possible, but work has been very slow. She has secured a new job but has not started yet and finances are very tight. She was recently given a 3-day notice to vacate and is very concerned about being evicted. Any assistance toward the $1,014 she owes in rent would be greatly appreciated!

A grandmother who gives all her love and effort into raising her granddaughter with special needs is in need of two beds to improve the quality of their living. We would love if someone was willing to help them get a full and queen bed, mattress, and bedding for both. It would be so helpful for this amazing woman who does so much. Client has completed her case plan objective of housing and she is now starting from scratch. Mom is on a fixed income and spent all of her resources on securing a home and doesn't have any beds for the children. Client wants the children to have their own space in their new environment and hopes to get assistance with three beds. MCCS is requesting assistance with three twin beds to help strengthen this family and welcome them to their new home . MCCS will also help with household good as well! A kinship caregiver and her 13-year-old cousin are in need of rental assistance for the month of June. The caregiver has been extremely proactive and has reached out to numerous community resources for assistance, but unfortunately no one has the funds to assist. She fears she will be at risk of eviction if she cannot catch up on the rent. Any help with this would give the caregiver some breathing room to get back on top of her finances. Thank you!

A single parent of two young children is taking a courageous and thoughtful step to protect their family’s long-term stability. Due to an unexpected loss of funding, the housing program supporting them is shutting down and they can no longer afford rent. Rather than risk eviction and long-term hardship, the parent has chosen to transition the family into a shelter to begin rebuilding with support. This decision reflects a deep commitment to their children's well-being and a desire to build a stronger foundation for the future.

The family’s only vehicle, which is vital for transportation, job searching, and accessing housing options not on the bus line, needs to be towed and unlocked before repairs can begin. The parent has been saving for the repairs, but the immediate cost of towing ($109) and unlocking the vehicle ($80) is $209, more than they can afford right now.

We are working with a 2 parent household with 4 children; 1 child is a newborn. The family home does not have air conditioning and with the temperatures currently over 90 degrees, the family is in need of fans for their 2-story apartment. The family is also in need of fly traps/strips due to the amount of flies that come in through open windows and the door being opened as there is no air conditioning. We are hopeful that these needs will support the family enough that alternative placement is not necessary. The fans show between $50-$100 each on Amazon, and fly strips are around $10-$25 per a 4 pack. Thank you!

A loving kinship caregiver and her 13-year-old niece have fallen behind on their gas bill. The caregiver has been very proactive and has attempt securing assistance through many community resources; however, no one is able to assist. They will be at risk of disconnection if it is not paid soon, therefore, any help with this need or a portion of the balance would make a huge difference for the family. thank you!

Our agency is working with a mother who has a four year old boy who is autistic. He is now big enough and smart enough to open doors and windows to find his way outside and wonders around. As a result, referrals have been made to the agency by neighbors because it is dangerous for him to wonder the neighborhood. His autism makes it difficult for his mom to redirect his roaming behaviors. Mom has had to take off work because of this which is causing financial instability. Mom could use locks and/or alarms for the doors and windows to help keep her son from getting out and roaming. She is also in need of a bed for her son. Right now he is either sleeping with her or his older siblings. Once she is able to keep him from roaming she will be able to resume working again.

I am writing to inquire about potential assistance for a mother and daughter, who have just moved into their own apartment and are seeking essential household items, including a couch, dishes, silverware, an air conditioner, washer, and dryer. If anyone within your organization is able to provide any of these items, it would be a great support to our family.

We have a kinship provider who has taken on the care of 4 boys in her home. There has been some miscommunication regarding what she needed in relation to the beds. Information received was that she needed 2 bunk bed twin frames for 4 mattresses she had already. We purchased the 2 bunk bed frames, but the caregiver did not have the mattresses and is still in need of 4 twin mattress. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Backpacks & BBQ is an annual outreach event hosted by Middletown Nazarene Church that brings together our church, community, and local partners to support students and families preparing for the school year. We provide free backpacks, serve a full cookout-style meal, and offer a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for children in need in our community.

Each summer, hundreds of neighbors come together at our church for this day of joy and generosity. Children leave ready to start school with confidence and dignity — and families leave knowing they are seen, supported, and loved.
