A Hispanic family of four in our community is facing financial hardship and needs support. The husband is the only one who can work because mom is home taking care of her 2 young children ( 14 months and 6 years), one with severe autism and needs a lot of attention. The family could use help with groceries, a double bed and clothes for the children. Mom is in need of basic personal items such as soap, shampoo, and feminine products as well.

Hello! We have a 15yo who is absolutely passionate about electronics, video games, and music. He has been diagnosed with an intellectual disability which limits his capacity to understand his situation and make appropriate decisions for himself often leading him to unsafe environments as he behaves and thinks like a 6yo boy. This youth has been going AWOL almost every day and making relationships within the community that we do not believe it is appropriate for him. We have tried almost everything to prevent this youth from AWOLING so often; however, he states that he goes AWOL because he feels bored in his placement. He usually returns from AWOL within 2 or 3 hours, however, his AWOLING is a significant concern for his safety and wellbeing. This youth is very personable and friendly, so we have concerns about individuals taking advantage of him during his AWOLs. This youth has been asking for a Nintendo Switch to be added as one of his coping skills. We believe that having a Nintendo Switch will minimize his AWOLS and he will feel motivated to stay in his placement when he feels bored. The agency has done some searching in the Facebook Marketplace and a gently used Nintendo Switch costs between $100 and $150. We are asking for the money so we can purchase the video game, however, a donation of a Nintendo Switch would be preferred.

Three young boys, new arrivals to the U.S, are placed are currently in a foster home. As they have begun better acclimating to their new routines, and structures, have begun to feel the desire to continue feeling connected to the lives they knew in their home country, which included playing the sport of soccer "futbol". We are asking for a $500 dollar "Dicks Sporting Goods" or Visa gift card to provide to the foster family so they can give the youth choice to purchase cleats and shorts to play in for each of the youth.

This mom and her 12-year-old son do not have their own transportation, which has created a barrier to getting to school/work/appointments. These bikes would be a huge support to increasing this family's access to community resources as well!

Samaritas is working with a five year old little girl who has been in two unrelated foster homes since entering care just over a month ago. A relative was approved to care for her and is elated for her transition next weekend into her home. She has three boys and is in need of a slim style five point harness car seat for her vehicle. This relative is committed to providing her niece a safe and stable home with family.

Samaritas has placed three siblings with their maternal grandparents in the state of Alaska within the last two years! The siblings have since been adopted and thriving. They have a new baby brother who will be transitioning to the grandparents home Alaska with his siblings in a pre-adoptive placement. We are over the moon for them to be together. The grandmother will be flying to Grand Rapids to pick baby up on June 14, 2025. She is flying from 2 AM until 10 PM to make it to Grand Rapids. We are requesting assistance with a hotel stay for one night to alleviate a cost for her. She will then be meeting, picking up and flying back to Alaska with her grandson.

Mom is from Africa there is a huge language barrier. She has a four-year-old son as well as being pregnant and due in August. She is in need of baby items for her baby she has nothing for her baby as of yet. So, we may start with basic like onesie's socks and blankets. He 4yr old needs some summer clothes and sandals. He is tall he wears like a size 7&8 in clothing. Mom can use some maternity clothes as well she wears like a large. She is not able to work at this time. Hello! A 13-year-old boy will be attending his first MARE meet and greet recruitment event! He is in search of his forever family. This youth is very shy, and the hope is that with a nice new outfit he will feel more confident. This youth is a big fan of the Detroit Tigers. He wants to wear a Detroit Tigers jersey to the event. We discovered the one he has is now too snug on him. I am requesting either a gift card to purchase a Detroit Tigers jersey/apparel for him or a Detroit Tigers jersey in mens size medium. I have seen prices vary from $30-$55 at the lower end. Item is needed by June 20th! The plan will be for him to wear it to events all summer long. Thank you!

A young mother with a six-year-old daughter is currently employed and in need of a laptop computer to assist her in connecting with Virtual counseling services. Due to the hours of her work schedule, she cannot attend in person counseling. This worker has been meeting with her and has found her to be very willing to strengthen her mental health and coping skills, thus strengthening her parenting skills. The mother is also hoping to utilize the computer to continue with further schooling online. She completed research on the best price for a laptop at Walmart and found one priced at $159.00 on sale.
