This request is for 2 children, ages 1 & 2, that recently came into care due to concerns for medical neglect. Both children are very small for their age. The children were able to be placed with their father. He is in need of a way to safely take them places and has asked for help getting a double stroller. If this need gets met, he will be able to go the store more easily as well as take them for walks and outings.

We are requesting a bunk bed and a full size bed and frame, and mattresses for a mother and her 3 children. They are leaving a violent situation to stay with family members and need appropriate bedding. The bunk bed is for a 11 and 17 year old boys, and the full size bed is for mom and 3 year old daughter.

I was notified today of an emergency situation pertaining to an elderly grandmother raising 3 small grandchildren. She cares for a non-mobile adult person in her home as well. Money has been tight. She has been in search of a new home due to the raising of rent by her landlord and ineffective maintenance repairs to her home. She has been unable to find a new place to accommodate her needs within her budget therefore remains in the home. Last night she went to access her cash through the ATM at the bank. Due to a malfunction with the ATM her money could not be given. She is now being notified that it might be up to 45 days before the bank can pay out. She has other bills coming due-she is on payment plans for these. She is desperate for help as the landlord will continue to charge daily when she doesn't pay. If anyone can assist this family with any amount it would be greatly appreciated. Her total owed today for rent is $1543, but this goes up $10 a day ongoing.

A father with a 1 year old child in care needs to attend the next court hearing tomorrow. However, he does not have any transportation or insurance that would cover the expense of attending the court hearing. The goal for this young child is reunification and the father needs to attend the court hearing to continue the process of reunification.

Family ( mother, father, and their year old child), need assistance paying for their hotel where they have been staying at since becoming homeless. Parents do work (mom works at Mcdonalds and Dad does contract work), but the cost of hotels have burned through their savings (they have tried calling shelters but have found no place with any openings and they do not have a vehicle to try and go to a long stay hotel while they try to improve their credit. Father should receive a paycheck next week and the family should be able to cover their expenses going forward. The amount asked for will cover a 3 day stay Hotel is the Super 8 by Wyndham. I have a mother who is working towards her trial home visits with her son. However, she is needing to complete her SATOP program and at this time, doesn’t have the money to pay the fee, which is $249.00.

This mom has worked so hard over the past 8-9 months to get her life back on track by taking care of her substance use issues, outstanding tickets/warrants, working in her own mental health all while working and completing her court ordered services. With this class, she will be able to drive again, which means she won’t have to use public transportation. Thank you in advanced for all you do for our families.

We are seeking assistance to provide clothing for a resilient 13-year-old girl who has recently endured unimaginable hardships. Currently, she has only her grandparent's old clothes to wear, as her belongings remain in Texas and are being discarded by her father. This courageous young girl is on a journey of healing, yet she lacks the basic necessities to support her recovery.

Her grandmother, who is also caring for two other small children, is unable to afford new clothing. Despite her challenges, this girl expressed a heartfelt desire for "girlie girl" clothes while wearing a worn oversized tee. We kindly request support in obtaining XL-sized sport bras, skirts, tee-shirts, and pants, as well as size 11 sandals or tennis shoes. I have a mom requesting help with rent. Her husband was killed at the beginning of the month while on a getaway with their son (he witnessed the incident) and he was the primary financial provider. She is trying to get all the kinks worked out, but she is asking for any kind of help with her rent until she can find a new place or find other arrangements. She has said that she would be grateful for any amount or recommendations. Her rent a month was $1300.

Mom of 2 lost her 18 year old son to homicide on 5/22/24. Mom has a full time job however due to the circumstances, has been out of work since the incident. Mom is prioritizing putting her son to rest and is currently paying for the funeral which is close to $8,000. Mom is concerned she will get behind on rent due to the funeral costs and being out of work. Currently KCMO does not have organizations that assist with funeral funds, so it will be out of pocket for her. Mom is seeking rental assistance for the month of June. Her current rent amount is $1340 and has around $300 to go towards her rent payment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Natural mother is working to improve her home for the safety of her four children. After years of drug use, the natural mother is clean and in rehab and is working to reintegrate with her children. Given the extensive amount of drug use that occurred in the home, the mother is redoing the house to make sure her children are safe. The mother has finished redoing her floors and has gotten rid of all of the furniture. This mom is requesting assistance with getting new living room furniture, specifically couches or a living room chair. Once the mother has finished cleaning the home and replacing the furniture, she will be able to have visitation in her home in hopes to return her children to her care.

Children's Division is trying to help support a family of six (4 kids). This family has been trying to eradicate a pest problem for several months on their own. The situation has not improve despite several different methods tried by the family. Children's Division and the family have a developed a multi prong attack plan to eliminate the pests. To implement this plan, we do require some support so that the family will not get behind on financials. We are requesting 5 storage bins to help put the family's food in, to keep the critters at bay. The family also said a baby gate they would benefit from a new baby gate.

I’m reaching out with urgency and deep sincerity on behalf of a brave, single mother of two children (ages 7 months & 4 years) who has recently escaped the grip of an abusive relationship. She’s working hard to rebuild her life, providing a safe, stable home for her children while juggling the weight of emotional trauma and financial strain. Despite her strength and determination, this month she’s fallen short—just $250 away from being able to cover rent. This isn’t just about money; it’s about helping a mother hold onto the safety and peace she fought so hard to create. The mother has applied for SNAP benefits, will be applying for WIC benefits, started the Child Support process, and Childcare Subsidy benefits. The mother does have family in the area, but they are unable to assist with any financial help at this time. We have created a budget with Mom and identified areas where she can trim her budget in order to save extra money next month. The mother is in the process of connecting with other community resources to assist her during this transition time.
