I am working with a teenage girl, and her mother, who are currently experiencing homelessness and living at the shelter. The child does not have access to any electronics, and suffers from mental health disorders. She could benefit from having a kindle or a tablet of some sort to aide in her de- escilating/ calming when needed. She has no resources to aide her in this way currently.

This request is for a family CarePortal has recently helped in the BV area. Five-year-old non-verbal autistic child is on a trial home placement. Services are limited in the area and both the child and mother are utilizing some services that require a bit of travel. Finances are currently strained while they cannot get SNAP for the child, as he is still in foster care. The family paid for travel weekly for 9 months for visitation and parenting courses, which caused the family a financial deficit. The mother cannot work due to the child's high level of needs which prevents him from being successful in a daycare setting. The father works fulltime, but is responsible for covering all the bills, which he does. The child's trial home placement will continue for approximately 3 more months, following which the family will be able to receive benefits for the child. The family is in need of assistance with gas cards to assist with transportation, pull-ups, and groceries. The mother continues to work on toilet training and has been utilizing food banks, but the child is unwilling to eat most foods provided by the food bank. Pull-ups needed are children size XL.

A mom lives in Lynchburg with her 3 children. Her husband is currently incarcerated, leaving her to be the sole provider. Health complications beyond her control caused her to lose her last job. Last month she got a remote job, which will suit her medical needs better, but it will be several weeks before she gets paid and she has no way to make all of this month's rent which is due 6/16 - latest. She is currently searching for a second job to help make ends meet. Thank you for any help you can provide to this mother as she does everything she can to get back on her feet.

We are seeking rental assistance and car repairs for a Mom who is doing anything and everything she can to provide a safe and stable home for her children. Mom recently encountered a setback when the only vehicle broke down, leaving them unable or having to walk to get to work, medical appointments, and transport kids to school and daycare. Despite moms best efforts to maintain financial stability, the unexpected cost of having the vehicle diagnosed and repaired is beyond the Moms means. Without the vehicle, this could result in Mom and boyfriend falling further behind on bills and medical appointments. We are asking for help with getting the care diagnosed and repaired which is an unknown cost, which is why the request will show $10. We are also seeking help with paying rent for this family as they have fallen behind a month due to having to miss work. Having both of these requests filled will help this family with five children get back on track and on their feet.

We had a sweet mom come in to our clinic today who is out of work, just found out she is pregnant and has a one year old. She has applied to multiple places to regain employment, and has even had two interviews, but has not heard back. Because of this, she is behind on her rent. To come up to date, she needs $875 to keep herself and her 1 year old daughter in their current housing community. She stated that if she pays this, she will be stable at least through August, and by then is hoping to have a new job. She did interview with 2 places. We supplied her with some physical needs for the 1 year old, but we are trying to keep her from being kicked out pregnant and with her baby. When she came in she had $2, and that was all she had for gas. We are hoping a church can come alongside and help this mom out. Thanks.

I am working with a single mother and her young teenage daughter who are at risk of loosing their housing, and currently do not have electricity. The step father recently left the home, and was the provider- the mother is seeking employment currently but does not have transportation so she has limitations with that. They are in need of assistance of any sort, to help pay the electric bill to get it back on, and any assistance to help with this months rent. The mother is taking steps to be able to pay it moving forward, but the family is struggling currently, and having to go to food pantry's to get food as well. Any assistance that can be provided will greatly aide this family. They have been out of electricity for 2 days currently. They also do not have a washer or dryer- and the daughter has been wearing clothes multiple times because they cannot afford the laundry mat and have no way to get there regularly.

This family is living in a 2 bedroom trailer. The trailer needs some renovating done to the back bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom in the back needs new flooring and panels taken down and hauled away. This family is doing their best to make due with what they have in this situation and we would just like to fix this back bedroom so they have that to use.

A single mom to son is trying to get back into the swing of a "normal" day-to-day life after unexpectedly suffering from the loss of her other child. Mom is trying to find a job and is working on getting unemployment until she is able to find work. However, she is needing assistance with paying for gas and is looking for gas vouchers to take her son to his doctor and therapy appointments, school, and church.

A single mother with two children living in a local mobile home park. The mother is currently in inpatient rehabilitation while her children are cared for by the maternal grandmother. The mother will be returning home this month. The mother's home does not have air conditioning. DSS is requesting a new or used window A/C unit for the family during the hot summer and early fall months.

I'm working with a mom and her 2-year-old son. She has a few different court fines to pay out of Campbell County and Bedford County. This request is being made to help her get back on her feet, and to move forward. She just got a job, and she is working through services. This would help her meet her goal, and to be able to focus on more time building a relationship with her child.

My client is an 8-month-pregnant mother of an 11-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy. The baby is due in late June 2025. She recently separated from her husband, who experienced a mental health crisis after witnessing a traumatic event. Prior to relocating to the area in May 2025, her family lost everything during a tornado and hurricane in another state. A local shelter assisted in securing housing for them, but they currently have no clothing for themselves or the newborn, nor any essentials for the baby's arrival. Despite being 8 months pregnant, she is enrolled in online classes to pursue a career in medical billing and coding. She has visited local agencies seeking clothing for herself and her children but has been unable to find items that fit. I am requesting a $500 donation to purchase baby items and clothing for the family. This support will not only provide immediate relief but also strengthen the family's bond and well-being during this challenging time.

This family is need of an electric bill paid. They have been given a cutoff notice and the bill is $1100.
