I’m reaching out with urgency and deep sincerity on behalf of a brave, single mother of two children (ages 7 months & 4 years) who has recently escaped the grip of an abusive relationship. She’s working hard to rebuild her life, providing a safe, stable home for her children while juggling the weight of emotional trauma and financial strain. Despite her strength and determination, this month she’s fallen short—just $250 away from being able to cover rent. This isn’t just about money; it’s about helping a mother hold onto the safety and peace she fought so hard to create. The mother has applied for SNAP benefits, will be applying for WIC benefits, started the Child Support process, and Childcare Subsidy benefits. The mother does have family in the area, but they are unable to assist with any financial help at this time. We have created a budget with Mom and identified areas where she can trim her budget in order to save extra money next month. The mother is in the process of connecting with other community resources to assist her during this transition time.

Single mother of 5 children with a 6th child on the way. Father of the children is incarcerated. The family has overdue utilities and rent. They are currently homeless and unable to apply for living due to the overdue balances. She has tried utilizing community resources but all are unable to help. She is working with Big Brother Sig Sisters and the Jackson County Prevention Team. The overdue amounts are large, but anything would help get this family back on track.

Good afternoon! I am requesting community assistance to support a pregnant older youth on my caseload and help get her Laptop for professional and educational use. My youth in question is 19 and in care of the MO Children's Division. She is presently living in a transitional apartment program in Kansas City and working on how to live and work independently. My youth works part time and is wanting to apply for new jobs specifically ones that involve the ability to work from home and in order to work from home she must have a decent computer. Given my youth's limited financial means we are asking for community support to help with obtaining a laptop my youth can use to apply for jobs, complete work from home, and eventually use for college schoolwork. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

The client was joyfully celebrating her nephew's birthday who passed away, surrounded by family and friends when the unimaginable happened, gunfire erupted, and she was struck in her left leg. What should have been a day of love and celebration turned into a life-altering tragedy. Due to the severity of her injuries, she has been unable to return to her job at FedEx, leaving her unable to keep up with rent payments. She is now at risk of losing her home. More than anything, she is fighting to provide a safe and stable environment for her one-year-old son—a child who deserves comfort, safety, and a sense of normalcy in these difficult times. her rent is $800. she has $400 of that and is needing another $400.

Children's Division is seeking assistance in supplying a kinship placement provider with the necessary items needed to raise a new baby until the goal of reunification can be obtained. The provider has children who are grown adults; therefore, it has been years since she has needed things like diapers, wipes or burp cloths.

The provider is in need of a baby monitor to ease her concerns while the child sleeps at night, and to ensure he is healthy throughout the night. The provider is also looking for the basic essentials such as size 1 diapers, wipes, blankets, burp cloths, and a sling that could be worn to carry the child on her chest. Children's Division has supplied this kinship provider with a new bassinet, a play mat, diapers, formula, and other essentials, but as anyone might understand that babies grow QUICKLY and the baby has already sized out of the newborn diapers he was wearing. Children's Division is seeking for supplies from our own office to make this possible but also would like to reach out to Care Portal to see if anyone can help in supplying other essential items. I have a single mother of 4 whose water was disconnected due to paperwork was not provided to update water services at the home. Recently water was turned off at the home. The mother contacted the landlord, who stated the mother will need to pay at least of the outstanding water bill. The total due is 801.90. The mother is asking for $400.00 to restore the services. As the water has been turned off for a couple of days which has caused a minor inconvenience. Once the water is restored in the home, it will allow this family to continue with moving towards reunification of the children. Worker does have all necessary information for the donor to pay the bill directly to KC Water Department.

Single mother of 2 is working very hard to find stable housing and work while also uninsured. One of the two children has been bullied at school for the clothes that she wears. The bullying has been relentless, to the point of daughter wanting to self-harm. The daughter is in safe hands. Clothes for the daughter are hard to find, as in age appropriate and in her style in sizes 2X. A gift card to any clothing places that has her size would help take a burden off of mom's shoulder and empower her daughter to feel more confident in choosing her clothes. I am reaching out to request support on behalf of a single mother in our community who is in need of a queen-sized mattress. This hardworking mom is raising two young children and doing her best to provide a safe and stable environment for her family. Currently, she is without a proper bed and has been sleeping on the floor or couch to ensure her children are as comfortable as possible. A queen mattress would give her the opportunity to get the rest she truly deserves and continue caring for her children with the strength and energy they depend on. A donated mattress would be more than just a piece of furniture—it would represent dignity, comfort, and care for a mother doing everything she can for her family under difficult circumstances. Bio Mom is needing to attend a driving school (Learn 2 Drive KC) that will help her get her driver license so that she can transport her children to school, medical appointments, and ABA therapy. The school consist of 3 driving lessons, and each class is 2 hours. The cost is $680 including pickup and drop off in the Kansas City area.

I have a 16 year old foster child in a relative placement. The child has been bounced around from home to home and is now with a relative. The relative has agreed to take her in but needs some assistance with his electric bill. In order to continue living with her relative, we need to get his electric bill paid. He is at risk of having his electricity shut off. Any amount helps. We appreciate any help you can provide.

Mother of a Little in our program reached out and stated she will no longer have employment as of May 2025, and is currently searching for new employment. Little has recently experienced significant mental health concerns, which has resulted in high stress for Mother and Daughter. Mother is highly motivated and is hopeful she will find employment soon but is requesting support for a high gas bill she has been unable to pay due to increase in other bills. Mother is highly appreciative of any help that can be provided.

Please consider assisting two young brothers who were recently placed in kinship placement with their grandmother. The children had a very limited supply of clothing when placed with grandma. Grandma is also needing baby equipment to ensure the children's safety in the home and on the go. If you are able to assist with any of these item, it would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!
