As a case manager from KVC Permanency, a mother whose child recently came into care has reached out to me regarding a water bill that DCCCA previously said that they would help this mother pay. The mother then received a notice recently that her water was going to be shut off ASAP. Her bill is through waterone in Johnson county and in the amount of $115.77. This mother is attempting to have visits in her home with her child that is in care and needs to be able to have running water while she is over.

Hello, I have a relative placement that paid $398.00 out of pocket for their niece to take a Driver's Education Course. Relative home has provided a receipt of payment. This teen has been through more than most ever will in an entire lifetime. With the love and support of her family, she is doing really well in school, has a job that she loves to go to and is thriving in her relative placement. This family is so close to reunification and are just waiting on housing. They have already made payments towards the housing payment and have also had some help from grandmother but are still needing the rest in order to move in.

A teenager was battling a significant heart condition and sadly passed away last week. The family is devastated and is relying on God and the community’s prayers in order to continue to put one foot in front of the other. The young man had plans to become a pilot and loved his family deeply. He was raised by a single mom and his siblings are absolutely devastated. His Mom has not put money aside for his funeral as this was an unexpected death. If a church is willing or able to assist with funeral expenses, the family would greatly appreciate the financial contribution. Thank you for your consideration.

After years of separation caused by circumstances beyond their control, a 16-year-old in foster care is finally ready to reunite with their father and stepmother in Georgia. This isn’t just a visit—it’s a permanent, long-awaited move home. The bond between father and child has been carefully and lovingly rebuilt over time, and the family is overjoyed to welcome their teen into a stable, supportive home. Now, with the school year coming to a close, everything is in place—except the funds to get them there.

We’re asking for your help to cover the cost of a plane ticket and the extra baggage fees, and shipping fees needed to bring the teen's belongings—things that make a young person feel like they’re bringing their life with them, not starting from scratch. A 16-year-old in foster care is preparing for a life-changing move to reunite with their father and stepmother—finally heading to their forever home. While this moment is full of hope, it also comes with anxiety. After experiencing a devastating loss in the past where all of their belongings were lost, the idea of putting their things on a plane feels deeply unsettling.

To help ease this worry, we’re hoping to provide luggage tracking tags (like AirTags or similar tracking devices) for their multiple bags. Being able to see where their belongings are would bring immense peace of mind during an already emotional and overwhelming transition. If you can contribute funds or send a tracker directly, you’ll be offering more than just technology—you’ll be offering comfort, security, and a small sense of control in a big, uncertain moment.

We are reaching out to request your assistance for a family we are supporting. A mother and her daughters are facing difficult circumstances, including the loss of two parents and the removal of one child from the home. Due to these significant life events, the mother has been unable to work and is now behind on several payments.

DCCCA has done what we can to help and has explored community resources, but unfortunately, we have not found any viable solutions. The mother is seeking assistance to cover half of her rent. Additionally, DCCCA has already helped by paying the electricity bill, which was disconnected this morning.

We understand that the amount needed is substantial, and we are hopeful that multiple churches can come together to support this family. Thank you for taking the time to read this message. We sincerely hope you can help us keep this family together and prevent eviction and further distress.

We are looking at doing something small to support the family we have been bringing meals to this fall. They are fostering 4 kiddos. In talking to foster Mom, she said they are pretty set on clothing, but are in need of some winter boots for three of the kids.

Annet- Size 8 1/2

Graece is set.

These boots do not have to be new, just in good condition, so if you have some laying around we would love them! : )

Also, when we asked about doing something for Christmas, they said they were hoping to do a larger family gift, so I offered to take up a collection for that. A family connected to a SHOJ Parish family is in desperate need of assistance for rent. They have received a three day eviction notice. The family has four young children, ages 10, 8, 5, and 23 months. Any amount of money we can provide to help preserve this family's safe living conditions would be greatly appreciated! Please respond with the amount you may be able to contribute, and we will help arrange getting the aid to them.

A local foster family that Sacred Heart is starting to support with a "Care Community" (small group surrounding a foster family with meals and other needs) is in need of swim lessons for some of their foster kids. We are looking to cover the cost of these lessons. Thank you so much for considering helping with this need!
