This 14 year old boy has been in care for over two years. He moved bounced around a little, before finding stable placement with his siblings in March of 2021. He has an 8th grade field trip to Washinton, DC coming up in April (with payment due in December). This youth is a great kid. Once he got into a stable and loving home, and was able to find the right dosage of medication, he has thrived. He does well in school, loves playing sports, and he has a very humble and kind personality. He would really like to go on this trip, and his foster family would really like for him to be able to join his classmates. They need some help to make this happen. The cost of the trip is $1,609, and that is a lot for the family to take on, especially since they have five other children in the home.
Two children are being reunified with their father after he was released from a stretch in prison. The children are very excited to be with him again and he is working on making their house a home. They are in need of two twin sized bed frames and mattresses for the kids. Any help is greatly appreciated!
We have an Uncle that took in his niece and nephew to prevent the children going into foster care. He has had the children for a few weeks and we determined this may be a long term situation (over 6 months). The children need bed frames and mattresses. The two year old girl is sleeping in a pack and play. The seven year old boy is sleeping on a cot. If anyone can donate a toddler bed frame, a twin/ full size bed for the 7 year old, and mattresses, the relative would really appreciate the assistance. The family is also open to bunk beds if that is available. Please reach out if you can assist with used beds or new beds. Thank you!
Family with father working short hours due to winter season and mother unable to work due to physical pain after childbirth. This family with 3 teenagers and a baby sister are having a plumbing problem in the home and sewage backup. The family is needing assistance with having their line snaked to prevent further water from backing up in their basement. The parents are very appreciative of assistance as they struggle to pay monthly bills and having a water backup is a added burden. Worker has called Razor Rooter and received a bid. If donor has another business that would like to donate services this is open to that as well.
I am working with a new mother and father who have a 10 day old baby. The baby has some medical issues and that parents would like to get a baby monitor for when she is napping in a separate room from them. Any assistance would be appreciated and they are happy to take a used set as long as it is working. Thank you for considering this request and your continued support!
DCCCA is working with a family who has been homeless for 9-months and the family has been separated for the past few months with children saying at a friends home and mom staying with different family members and sleeping in her care at times. Mom does work full-time but has had a difficult time finding affordable housing.
Mom has found a home and been accepted to move in as soon as she can pay the deposit and a month of rent up front. The family is hoping to move in as soon as possible because the family the children have been staying with will be leaving town next week leaving the children with no place to go. If the family is not able to get into housing soon there will likely be court involvement which always leads to the risk of the children being removed. We know $1,125 is a very large amount but having the first months rent will allow the family to move in as soon as possible and will give the family stability to being working on other goals to continue to increase their stability.

Mom does work full-time but has had a difficult time finding affordable housing. Mom has found a home she can afford and would like to be in but lacks the finances to pay the $900 deposit. If the family is not able to get into housing soon there will likely be court involvement which always leads to the risk of the children being removed. We know $900 is a lot to ask and any bit will help toward making sure this family can be together under one roof and having this basic need met.
Mother with twin boys (1 years old) is needing a double stroller. Mom was homeless and came to services with the clothing on her back. She was able to get into temporary housing, however she is needing a double stroller for her twins as she is currently pregnant and shouldn't be lifting both of them. Mom walks places or when needing to go to appointments, it is a huge challenge. Mom is not picky what type of double stroller (there are options on amazon, walmart or target).
Mom is also needing to get her birth certificate to get into public housing (her own place with the boys) and does not have the funds to order it. We are requesting a donation so that DCCCA can help assist getting her birth certificate.

DCCCA Family Preservation is hosting our 3rd Annual Christmas Party for the at-risk families we serve. This event gives families the opportunity to step away from their stressful life events, even for just a short while, to have a joyful evening full of fun, food, and festivities. This event can help form positive core memories for vulnerable children -- many who experience extreme poverty and would love nothing more than some bonding time with their parents to play games, have a nice meal, sing and even laugh together. DCCCA is a nonprofit organization; therefore, we rely on the generosity of the community to help fund our events. Donated funds will help us purchase the food, paper goods, and other essential items. If you are able, please consider helping us bring smiles and laughter to the faces of many children as we share with them the magic and joy of Christmas. Thank you for all you do for the community!
