This is a family of two parents with two children and another on the way. They have recently moved to the metro area and is in need of a hand up. Both parents are working and sharing transportation with nearby family members. The family is struggling with keeping gas in the car and in turn are at risk of missing work shifts or having difficulty making doctors appointments, prenatal care appointments, and accessing other resources in the community that they need to drive to. Gas cards could go a long way towards helping this family reach a place where they are truly thriving again.

This child's case is fairly new to the foster care system, but they have been living with the same kinship placement since before their case opening. The placement gave this child a place to stay while they were bouncing from couch to couch and has advocated for the best interest of the child while the child's parents were not present. This request is for a five pound fire extinguisher and a carbon monoxide alarm which will be two of three missing pieces that need to be completed before this family is ready for kinship licensing. At this point in time I am advocating for this family to get licensed so they can continue to get the resources they need and deserve for taking care of this child

For the past two years, this foster home has been a safe, nurturing environment for young children in need. In October 2024, they welcomed a three-year-old boy into their care. While he is a joyful and curious child, his caregivers have noticed that he often loses his balance and seems clumsy for his age. Although some clumsiness is typical for toddlers, they believe he would greatly benefit from a toddler tumbling class to help build coordination, confidence, and strength. The cost of the class is currently out of reach for the family, but your donation could help make this opportunity possible. Enrollment closes on June 6, 2025. We are hoping to secure support before then to ensure he doesn’t miss out. Child requires a tablet for virtual therapy to assist with dealing with trauma and abuse as court ordered.

I have a single mother of 4 whose water was disconnected due to paperwork was not provided to update water services at the home. Recently water was turned off at the home. The mother contacted the landlord, who stated the mother will need to pay at least of the outstanding water bill. The total due is 801.90. The mother is asking for $400.00 to restore the services. As the water has been turned off for a couple of days which has caused a minor inconvenience. Once the water is restored in the home, it will allow this family to continue with moving towards reunification of the children. Worker does have all necessary information for the donor to pay the bill directly to KC Water Department.

I am looking for help to reunify a family with their child. The father just recently started working full time overnights while the mother tends to their four children during the day. The parents are just getting back on their feet but struggling financially to be able to cover first and last months' rent. They are requiring some assistance to just get them into their apartment so we can start a trial home visit. The family has been homeless for a while and couch-surfing with relatives and that in itself has taken a toll on them. The mother is unable to work due to needing to supervise her young children plus the one child in care has very intense medical needs that require round-the-clock care. The father is trying to also during the day work with a friend of his, cutting grass and doing some landscape jobs on top of his full-time work to help bring in extra cash as fast as they can. I am hoping to help this family out with just the first month to get them started and give them that motivation to keep going. They will be able to afford the rent on a monthly basis but like I said we are just needing assistance the first month for them so we can get their child back to them in their home. The parents will be able to provide proof of a signed lease agreement as well.

I am seeking out help for a child who was just recovered from being on-run. Unfortunately, there are no family members what-so-ever involved in his case and this poor child has learnt to fend for himself most of his childhood and into his teen years. As hard as it is for him to accept help sometimes, he is in desperate need of just that. The child is currently staying with a friend who so kindly is willing to help keep him off the streets however he is in need of a bed, bedding and a pillow as he is currently sleeping on an air mattress temporarily. With this help, we are hoping to get a good home routine and regimen back up and started for him. We want him to feel comfortable and confident having his own items and get him back on track with meeting his goals in life.

This family is seeking a car seat to ensure their newborn's safety. With the parents living in separate households, the father is currently on disability while the mother is not employed. They have recently welcomed a baby into their lives and are collaborating with community services to access the support they need.

The Children's Division has thoughtfully planned for the safety of children to be with their loving grandfather. Despite facing financial limitations, he is wholeheartedly dedicated to providing for his two grandchildren and ensuring they have access to education. Granddad is seeking support with fuel costs to transport the children to and from school and their extracurricular activities—responsibilities he has embraced to keep them out of foster care. He expresses that, while he is not accustomed to these additional expenses, having his grandchildren in his home brings him joy, vitality, and a sense of purpose. The children have also settled in beautifully with him. The family is needing a $50 gas card from quick trip. The family is being asked to tidy up their home in order to expand visitation with their children. 4-5 large storage bins have been requested in order for the family to work on this. Other things that could be helpful would be childproofing materials, cleaning materials, and general home safety (medicine storage).

A young single mother of two children under the age of two is currently facing significant challenges. With no income and no support from family, her situation has become increasingly difficult. Although she is actively searching for employment, securing a job has been especially hard without access to childcare. Among her many pressing needs, one of the most immediate is a toddler bed and mattress for her 1-year-old. At the moment, the child is sharing a bed with both the mother and infant sibling, which is not ideal for anyone’s comfort or well-being. Meeting this need would not only provide the family with a more comfortable sleeping arrangement, but it would also help promote a sense of safety, independence, and confidence for the growing toddler. Additionally, it would offer the mother some much-needed relief during a very stressful time.
