The foster parent does not have access at this time to a computer or tablet and the classes cannot be done on a cell phone. I am sending this request in hopes of getting a 30 day EMBARK bus pass for a mom who is actively engaging in services. Mom has 2 children in custody and one of them was born about 3 weeks ago. Right now money is a little tight for her, but she wants to actively engage in her services to reunify the family. She has been extremely proactive since the birth of her child and wants to keep her progress going. This bus pass would help mom get to her services that she needs to complete in order for OKDHS can make a safety decision on her home.

Oklahoma City Police Y.E.S (Youth Enrichment Services) Unit formally known as Truancy has been in assistance with the Department of Human Services helping a family in need. The case worker is helping a single mother with five children that’s experiencing issues with bed bugs. The children ages range from infant to 13 years of age. They are hesitant to provide the family with new furniture until they know the home as been treated. They have been in contact with the owner of Bed Bug Exterminators. The owner informed the mother the cost of the extermination will cost $1.00 per square feet of the home. The mother is having a problem coming up with the money because her only source of income is social security due to her being hearing impaired. They are looking at the possibility of the home needing to be treated at least twice due to the severity of the situation. Anything to help the family is greatly appreciated.

I am working with a mother who needs assistance with her OG&E bill. She recently gave birth and is home with her child. She sought out local resources and is working hard to have her baby’s needs met. She will not be able to work for a number of weeks and would benefit from assistance paying the bill. She has a late payment, deposit and current bill totaling $357. She is extremely cooperative with the agency and doing what she can to provide for her baby. We would love to see her succeed and be a mother to her child. Paying the OG&E bill will help this mother keep the electric on in her home and care for her baby. Any assistance is appreciated!

There is currently a sibling set of two(ages 1 and 5) that we have been able to maintain placement with their grandmother for the last five months while parents are diligently working their plan to return their children home. During the ice storm, the grandmother's hot water tank went out and the children and grandmother have been heating water on their stove for warm baths ever since. The family had someone come out and replace a line that went to the hot water tank, but she was recently told that the entire water tank was out. This family is in need of a replacement water tank or funds to contribute to this desperate need so that our children can have easy access to warm baths and warm water to wash their hands. If someone has the certification to work on the one currently in the home, that would also be graciously accepted. At this time, the grandmother is still going through the foster care approval process to be able to receive their reimbursement stipends, but she has not yet received any funding and therefore is not able to pay for the hot water tank on her own. Any help given to this family would be appreciated beyond words. Thank you for your time.

Mom is a single mom to three children currently in custody. Mom would like to be helped with a bus pass. Mom has a vehicle but it is not reliable. A bus pass, would allow her to save some extra money to fix said vehicle as the kids are placed three hours away and she would like to be able to drive herself to these visits. This bus pass would also enable her to begin assisting to parenting classes, a domestic violence support group, court hearings, etc. as soon as possible. Her demonstrated participation in these services will enable her to show that she is working to correct the situation that led to her family being separated. Participation in these services and hearings are vital to the reunification of this bio family.

Hello, I have the honor to work with a single mother with two children whom the Department is trying to reunify, but we have a few barriers in our way. The mother is unable to work a job due to some disabilities, but she was able to find a service provider to work on herself in order to be a better parent for her children. It has been requested the mother completes an assessment on top of the other services she is already attending, but the assessment cost is beyond an amount the mother can afford to pay. We are asking for help in the cost of the assessment the mother has been asked to complete, the cost of this assessment is $750. We are grateful for any help anyone can give towards this cost and we also want to thank you for taking time to read this request. This will help achieve permanency sooner rather than later for these children and for that, we thank you!

I am working with a family in Family Centered Services (prevention) that has 4 children, 3 boys (9mos, 2yrs, and 7 yrs) and 1 girl (9yrs). The mother made a personal goal to move from the apartment they were living due to it being a rough area with community violence. She was excited to find a better living situation but unfortunately all of the family’s furnishings, to include the mother and children’s beds, had to be left behind due to a bug infestation in the apartment complex. Fostering Sweet Dreams was able to provide a bunk bed, twin bed, and toddler bed. With that assistance, the family only needs 3 twin mattresses and a toddler mattress. The mother is also in need of a full sized or larger bed, as she is currently sleeping on a pallet with the children. The mother has been resourceful in replacing other furniture that was left behind. To relieve her of the stress of finding beds would be a great blessing to this family and they would no longer be sleeping on pallets on the floor.
