Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
Greene County Department of Social Services has been working with a family of four, consisting of the father, mother, son (9), and daughter (1 yr.). Due to the colder weather, the family is utilizing a wood stove to heat the home. The wood stove is in the family room where they spend quality time together. The 1-year-old is beginning to meet age-appropriate milestones and has become more mobile. Given her curiosity and vulnerability, she needs to be given a higher level of supervision. Additionally, the 9-year-old has had to transition to in-home school instruction due to ongoing behavioral concerns, so the family is always home and spends most of the time near the heat. Though the family is meeting the basic needs of their children, they have requested assistance with purchasing a gate/baby gate of some sort to block off the wood stove that way the baby can move around without worry of her getting to close to the heat source, further ensuring the child’s safety and wellbeing. Items Needed: Baby Gate big enough block off the front of a standard size wood stove Example: Go To Link

This request is for a single mother with five children ages 9 years old to 18 yrs old. She was just able to secure a full-time job. She is struggling financially. They have a small apartment and are having trouble keeping up with the rent and other bills. Due to the number of children in the home, the family has limited storage for basic needs, such as clothing. Four of the 5 children share a bedroom. The family could benefit from a handful of dressers (4 if possible) and bookshelves/cabinets (small). Thank you !

The mother I'm working with, along with her three children were able to move out of a homeless shelter and into an apartment in Albany. Due to a lack of financial resources and the overall situation they have been dealing with, this family lost the majority of their belongings. This family consists of two girls aged 10 and 17 and one boy aged 11. The mother also has a 20-year-old daughter who has severe developmental disabilities and is also living in the apartment. This family is looking to receive four or five beds, dressers, table, couch, and lamps. The mother specified the bed sizes to be three twins and two full.

Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care
I have a father of four working towards reunification to regain custody of his children. He received a recommendation to complete a 28-day rehab. Instead of 28 days, this father chose to extend his stay at rehab for an additional six months to secure his sobriety. He then transitioned to a residential supportive living facility after successfully completing rehab. Presently, he enrolled in school full time Monday-Thursday 8:00-4:00 to obtain a barber certificate while his children are in foster care. He has chosen to go to school to become a barber to provide for his family of five. His plans were to use his income tax return to pay for his education. Unfortunately, his plans got derailed due to unexpected circumstances. A father who is trying to improve his situation for the best needs financial assistance to pay for his schooling. He owes $2,600.00 in total with monthly payments of $400.00. The first payment due date is at the end of March. I am requesting assistance with any known scholarships, sponsorships, or other method to help this father achieve his goal so that he can provide for his four boys when they return home.
