We are working with a courageous single mother who has recently completed rehabilitation services, overcome homelessness, and has been sober for almost a year. She has successfully secured stable housing in Los Angeles and has been reunified with her young son—a huge milestone in her journey. While she was able to obtain a bed, she is still in need of some essential household items to help her create a safe, stable, and welcoming home for her child. She is in need of a kitchen table and chairs and a dresser. Meeting this request would help provide dignity, comfort, and a fresh start for this resilient family.

Case involves mother and 4 year old son. Referral to DCFS due to mother's mental health concerns. Mother consistent with therapy in transitional living facility. Reunited with son at 18 month hearing. Since, mother has been approved for an apartment. To ease the burden, family is in need of the following. Amazon list below:

A single mom of two boys ages 11 yrs and 10yrs recently reunified with her children last week and is living in a rented room temporarily until mother can find permanent housing. The children are very happy to be back in mother's care; which has helped their behavior at school. Mother just finished her CNA training course in hopes to help her find future employment. We are hoping to assist mother with a week of financial assistance to pay for her room via Booking.com up until she gets her CalWorks benefits on 5/1/25.

Single mother is requesting clothes and shoes for herself and her son. Mom is size 2XL in shirts and prefers sweat pants and sweat shirts/sweat suits. Son is size 10-12 in clothes (needs everyday wear) and size 6 in boys shoes. Thank you for considering this request :-)

A devoted mother is doing everything she can to create a better life for herself and her 3-year-old daughter. Currently living in a shelter, she recently secured a part-time job and has been working hard to get back on her feet. She’s budgeting carefully, staying focused, and doing all the right things to move forward — but she needs a little help now. She's struggling to catch up after falling behind due to required back pay on her shelter fees. Even with her job, her income isn’t enough to cover ongoing shelter costs and make up for what she owes. She’s doing everything in her power to avoid returning to life in her car, a heartbreaking situation she’s already had to endure once before. We’re asking for your support to help cover her shelter fees so she and her daughter can stay in a safe place while she continues working and building toward stability. Any amount helps and brings her one step closer to breaking the cycle of homelessness and giving her daughter the future she deserves.

Our soon-to-be high school graduate has lost most of her belongings in one of the LA fires in January 2025. She has been in our system since she was approximately 4 years old. Originally, she was removed from her biological mother due to domestic violence and substance abuse and then was adopted when she was 6 years old. Over a year ago, the youth displayed severe mental health issues and her adopted mother relinquished custody of her as well. She has been in multiple placements due to her mental health issues but has still managed to graduate from high school. She wishes very strongly to attend all senior activities. She calls the CSW every day to ask what more the Department can do. During the fires, she was placed with a NREFM. She was given Court approval to remain with a NRFEM, whose RFA home assessment is currently pending. She does not have the funding to participate in any Senior activities. She stated she wants to attend Prom and is looking forward to her graduation. She is worried she will miss out on her senior activities.

I'm reaching out on behalf of a single mother who is doing her absolute best to care for her two young sons, both diagnosed with autism (ages 3 and 6). She works full-time Monday through Friday and has therapy sessions for both boys on Saturdays, making it extremely difficult to access local food pantries, even though she was provided a list by her social worker.

The boys are very picky eaters due to their sensory needs, and mom is struggling to keep up with grocery expenses. She recently reached out for help — she was emotional and expressed that she felt embarrassed, but she truly needs support right now. She’s trying her best and doesn’t want to miss work, which would only make things harder.

I'm asking the community for help — grocery gift cards are most helpful so mom can purchase specific foods her boys will eat.

Additionally, both children are in need of new shoes and socks: 3-year-old: Shoe size 10

6-year-old: Shoe size 13/1

Recently, the father received full custody of both children and is the sole provider. The family currently does not have adequate furnishings in the home as they moved in a few months ago and father does not have funds to furnish the home. The father is requesting a dresser for the children’s clothing, a dining table where the children can eat and do their homework. Also, father is asking for a sofa for sitting while the children watch television.

Recently, the father received full custody of both children and is the sole provider. The six-year-old child currently sleeps in the dining room area as there is not enough space to accommodate both beds in the room. The family is in need of a bunkbeds in order for the children to be able to sleep in the room comfortably. The family currently does not have adequate furnishings in the home as they moved in a few months ago and father does not have funds to furnish the home. The father is requesting new bunk beds, that can be separated into twin beds as the children continue to grow. They are also in need of twin mattresses to accompany the new beds.

We have a father who recently assumed the full-time care/responsibility of his three children (ages 7, 3 and 2 years old). While he is doing everything he can to provide for his children, the sudden change has left him unprepared-especially with summer approaching and the children quickly outgrowing their current clothing. The family is low-income and seeking support bedding the for children. By assisting the family with this request, it will eliminate the stress for the father on how he will obtain the information. Bedding for all three children twin comforter sets, pillows, blankets, twin waterproof mattress covers, and sheets.

This is a family of two. Mother 54. Son 9yrs. Client and her son had been living in their apartment for about 15yrs years. Client works in the Movie Industry as a producer. But Client is out of work at this time. Due to Client having to take care of her sick mother. Client said that the industry became very slow during Covid. Which left Client out of work. So Client has been a full time mom. Client currently states that she has no income. Client states that before the fire. Her life was almost perfect. But after the fire. Client states that she hasn't gotten any sleep. Because of her fear of her and her son being homeless. Client is currently couch surfing. From family to friends. I am hoping that this $1000 dollars will bring some hope and relief for Client and her family.
