The family has a rental home on hold if the previous Appalachian Power invoice can be paid in full. There are 3 school age children and their mother in the family. They have lived in a motel for the entire school year to date. Once the the overdue power bill the mother can move to a rental property.

The Department recently had to place a large sibling group into foster care. The foster home has requested help inquiring a double stroller for the two youngest children to make travel for the family easier. The family has stated that they like to travel with the children, but it is difficult without a double stroller. Any help from the community is appreciated.

Family with 3 school age children needs a washer. Current washer is broken and they have been going to the laundry mat. Money is tight and mother just had surgery so she has been unable to go wash their clothes recently.

THIS FAMILY HAS RESIDED IN VIRGINIA FOR SOME TIME. THEY HAVE A SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD THAT REQUIRES CONSTANT SUPERVISION AS WELL AS TWO YOUNGER CHILDREN.

THIS FAMILY IS IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE TO RENT EQUIPMENT TO REMOVE LARGE DEBRY WHERE AN OLD HOUSE COLLAPSED. THEY WILL BE MOVING A DOUBLE WIDE ON THE PROPERTY AND DUE TO THE COST OF FIXING THEIR WELL EARLIER THIS YEAR, THEY ARE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE.

Mother had leg amputaed due to illness and family is dealing with financial and emotional duress from this traumatic event. Father lost full time job as he was helping to take care of wife/mother and children during this traumatic life crisis. Father trying his best to keep food on table, children in school and manage finances as best as possible during this critical time found the family in need of major appliances such as a washer, dryer and a refrigerator. At this time the father is using coolers with ice to keep groceries cold. He is also trying his best to wash the 3year old, 3rd graders and 1st graders clothes in the sink and then hanging to dry. He is doing all this while trying to take care of his wife who just had her leg amputated. The family has been though a lot and needs help in their finanical and emotional time of need. Single mother with 3 teenage children with the oldest (15) being special needs (wears diapers and nonverbal) and youngest being 12 working to get better housing for herself and children after recent separation. Mother has found a place and landlord and is awaiting a confirmation. Mother has money for rent but needs assistance with the deposit as she has a lower paying wage in food service industry. The deposit is a month's rent of $895.

The Department is working with a family who is in need of a small used push lawn mower for their lawn. The family has limited income and the landlord does not provide mowing services.

There is a young couple with 2 small children we are involved with. The youngest child is on a wait list to be assessed for Autism and is nonverbal. The father has been unable to land a full-time job and does odd and end jobs as he can find them. The mother is on disability, recently lost her mother, and is now having to care for her aunt who is on hospice. This family has had a lot thrown into their lap recently and it has overwhelmed them. They are in need of cleaning supplies including trash bags to help them get their home back to normal. This family also had their washer and dryer go down almost simultaneously and the vehicle they have is completely broken down, so they are not able to go to the laundry matt to do their laundry. This family is very kind, and they love their children so much it radiates from them. Cleaning supplies needed- Dish soap, sponges, carpet cleaner, mop detergent, trash bags, gloves, bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, toilet cleaner, other supplies I may have forgot to list. The Department is working with a biological mother to a child in foster care. Child came into foster care, at no fault of the mother, due to death of a relative who had custody. The mother and her husband own their home and have limited resources. The family has been renovating a room in their basement for this young man (age 16) to come home to. The room is just in need of new carpet. This is the only thing needed to complete The Department is requesting any help that can be provided.
