A youth on my caseload recently moved into her studio apartment. the youth has not been able to purchase essential household items and is requesting assistance. The items the youth needs are: Electric Griddle, Portable Lightweight Dual Coil Burner, A blender, Magic Bullet juicer. The youth would benefit from assistance as she will be able to fully settle into the apartment, and it feel like home. The youth will be able to have meals at home, instead of depending on family and friends for meals.

The family is currently experiencing significant economic hardship following the recent arrest of the mother’s adult son, who had been her only source of support and transportation. As a result, the mother is struggling to meet basic needs. She is undocumented and has expressed a deep mistrust of law enforcement and service providers, which has made it difficult for her to seek help. During the son’s arrest, law enforcement observed a visible cockroach infestation in the home. The mother shared that she has been making efforts to address the issue, but due to financial limitations, she is unable to purchase adequate pest control supplies. With the little money she had, she attempted to bomb the home last Friday; however, the infestation persists. The mother has expressed that, “by the grace of God,” if the Agency or any community partners could assist with providing repellent or pest control support, she would be deeply grateful. Addressing this issue is critical to maintaining a safe and sanitary living environment for the family. Thank you!

I am requesting Care Portal assistance on behalf of a mother and her two children who were recently evicted from their home and are currently residing in an emergency shelter. The family has experienced significant instability, including lack of access to basic necessities and transportation. The mother is actively seeking support but has very limited resources at this time. She is in need of a gas card to help her retrieve their remaining belongings from the previous residence and attend scheduled appointments, including one to access further support. Any assistance provided would help stabilize the family during this difficult transition and ensure the children’s immediate needs are met in a safe and dignified manner.

I'm reaching out on behalf of one of the young mothers in our program who is currently in need of a crib for her 7 month old daughter. This young mom is a high school student who is working hard to care for her baby while continuing her education. Like many in her situation, she is financially limited and is need of extra support. A crib would provide her daughter with a safe and secure place to sleep and bring peace of mind to a young mom doing her very best. This gift will make a meaningful difference in their lives.

A single mother of four children is currently requesting a refrigerator for her household. She is raising her children alone, ages 7 to 15, and currently does not have stable employment. The mother occasionally volunteers in the community and makes money babysitting, but her income is not enough to afford a refrigerator. Her current refrigerator is old and has been working barely, but there is concern that it will break down soon, as it is leaking. It would be helpful for the family to receive a refrigerator, as it is a basic necessity for the children to get the nutrition needed to stay healthy.

These items would help youth acclimate to her new apartment and quickly feel at home.

I am currently assisting a mother who is caring for her one-year-old & newborn child. Mother has a total of 10 children & previously lost custody of 8 due to a long history of substance misuse. She began using methamphetamines at the age of 14 and experienced chronic homelessness for many years. Mother has made significant strides in turning her life around by being clean and sober for the past two years and has had no new referrals or child welfare involvement since the birth of her one-year-old in 2023. During this time, she's resided at the Navigation Center and women’s shelters while working closely w/ the CSET Housing Program. Through her hard work and commitment to stability, she recently secured permanent housing & received the keys to her new apartment in Lindsay on 5/30/2025. This is a rare and commendable case of a mother overcoming significant barriers and achieving sustained sobriety and stability. Any support provided to her would greatly contribute to her ongoing success and the well-being of her children. Because of her past housing instability, mother has very limited resources & is in urgent need of essential household items. She is seeking assistance with the following (new/used): A couch, bed for herself, dressers, a TV, sheets for the children’s beds, pillows, cleaning supplies, newborn necessities, clothing.

We are reaching out on behalf of a young couple with an 8-month-old baby who recently moved to Tulare County. They’ve been financially stable until now, with the father working full-time to support the family. Unfortunately, he recently lost his prescription eyeglasses, which are essential due to his impaired vision. Without them, he’s unable to return to work. His employer is kindly holding his position, but the delay in returning to work has put the family in a difficult spot. They’re now struggling to cover $600 in basic monthly bills, and more urgently, they are concerned about losing their housing. Their rent is $1,500 a month, and with limited resources, they are at risk of falling behind. This father is eager to get back to work as soon as he can replace his glasses. Any support to help cover the rent or essential bills would mean the world to this young family. Your generosity can help them stay housed, stay afloat, and get back on track. This request is being submitted by a Lead Social Worker with Child Welfare Services. This request is for a mother who has a history of domestic violence with the father. During the challenges of being a victim of domestic violence, the mother was working to provide for herself and the children. The mother lost her employment when she could no longer work due to approaching delivery and eventually giving birth. The mother took action steps to physically separate herself from the father to protect herself and the children and also initiated legal action to gain full custody of the child(ren) prior to Agency involvement. This request is for financial assistance for legal fees to help the mother receive legal assistance to add her new born baby to the existing custody documentation in family court. (Please note, this mother was involved in Family Law court prior to the Agency's involvement and she is not in an open case with the Agency but in an open referral.)

Mom is requesting a new or used refrigerator and dryer for a family of 9. Mom is a single mother who has limited income and is unable to purchase these items on her own. Mom has been working hard to maintain complaint with CWS services. Mom has been able to navigate through the Child welfare system and services with such success that she is now in family maintenance. Unfortunately, mom's refrigerator seal is damaged and is no longer able to keep foods frozen and struggling to keep foods cold. Mom is doing her best to keep food from spoiling but is in desperate need of a replacement as soon as possible. Mom's dryer has also unfortunately stopped working, and to is asking for support with a used dryer if possible. If any support is available for one or both items, it would be greatly appreciated.
