I am currently working with a single mother of six children. The mother herself was in foster care as a child. She has lost her transportation due to the transmission going out on her vehicle, and the only available option is to call her former foster mother whenever she or the kids need a ride somewhere. The kids have access to the school bus but if one or more of them miss the bus on a day then mom has no way to get them to school. The school tries to provide transportation as best they can for the kids. Additionally, for any appointments, etc. the mother has no means for transportation. This request is to see if anyone out there might have a spare vehicle they aren't using that they could donate to this family. If not, then possibly a donation towards buying a car or repairing the old car if that is possible.

Mother of 4 who has never worked, father always worked. Father, 39 recently passed away in the home unexpectedly. Mom and children found him in the bedroom deceased. She is in need of a few things. Mom has contacted SS office to sign up for benefits but these are not instant. She is really struggling with her grief and is also very concerned about how she is going to provide Christmas for her 4 children ages 2, 6,7,and 12.
She is also in need of a washer and dryer, doesn't have to be new just working, theirs had tore up and they were making due until they could save enough to replace.
She also is in need of a King size mattress/boxsprings/frame or a California King mattress/box spring (this is what she currently has.). Doesn't have to be new just clean. He passed away in the bed and she just cannot make herself to sleep in the bed. When talking to mom this morning who called about getting some counseling she told me at this point she would take any help she can get she wants to make sure that her kids have a Christmas.

Family of three adults and nine children (ranging from infant through teens) heats with kerosene because their rental home's heating system is broken and the landlord refuses to fix it. They have looked but have not been able to find other housing in the past year. The family is now down to two days' worth of kerosene, and can buy only two cans at a time at $30 per can. Each can lasts one day between the two kerosene heaters. They have utilized local agencies for other aid, and have been referred again to Central Virginia Alliance for Community Living to check on weatherization services. Previous calls to CVACL were not returned, but they could benefit from insulation that would preserve their inside heat. They reside in a 5-bedroom double-wide trailer.
