We have a mother of an infant and two teenagers, all females who are currently homeless. They were forced to leave their previous living conditions quickly and could not gather many of their belongings. Mainly belonging to the mother and the infant. They are working with local agencies and have temporary housing at this time, but they need numerous items to get assistance in the month of December until the mother can locate daycare and employment. We hope that assisting with these items will allow the family to remain local and keep them warm in the winter months. The family needs 2-3 cans of Similac Total Comfort (the purple can), size 3 diapers, and wipes. The clothing request would be 7 size 9 mos: outfits and a winter coat for the infant. One of the teens is a female wearing size 3/5 in Junior's pants or size small in leggings and is requesting 3 pairs of pants and 3 shirts in a size small adult. The other female is a size 7 in Juniors or a size small in leggings and is requesting 3 pairs of pants/leggings and 3 shirts in a size medium. Mother is a size 5 in Juniors and is requesting 5 pairs of pants or leggings which would be a size small and 5 tops is a size medium.

Married couple with two young children (one is special needs) just lost a baby three hours after birth due to undetected health issue. They had to divert December rent to burial expenses of $4,000 (to add to what was donated). Mom is facing two additional surgeries this month. Both typically work full-time and need very little support, but they could use help with just half of their rent as they grieve and prepare to transition back to work. The total rent is $1,200. They have $600 to put toward the rent. They requested aid at a local agency and were denied as they received help with their electric bill last May.

The child, a 12-month-old female, is her main priority, leaving hers last. She currently is a student at Forrest Park Academy. She is trying to maintain her schoolwork while caring for her child. She has limited transportation as she as to take Ubers to her grandmothers to drop off the child & then to school. The mother of the 17-year-old does not drive as she does not have a license, so transportation within the family is very scarce. This mom is in need of a community and support.

We have two students that had several oral health issues including abscessed teeth, cavities, etc. We took the children to be seen by a clinic and now they have a follow-up appointment and need transportation. They need to be seen at Mt. Airy, Surry Medical Ministries. A parent would attend the appointment with the children and we could assist with communication to set transportation up. The staff at the clinic are able to communicate with the parent. The appointments are at 10 and 10:30 on Wednesday, December 6th. Parent will incur all cost of the MD visit, but they did need transportation (cost to include gas and time) 46.2 miles round trip x 50.5 cents per mile = $ 23.33 + 25.00 an hour for 3 hours time.

Mother recently got a new job that is a position for as needed and therefore not consistent. Her previous position was also an as needed position but she had not gotten any work in about 3 weeks. With this new position, mother will be making more per hour when she does work and is looking for another flexible employment option for the times that she does not. Mother is currently in need of help with her rent and a few other outstanding bills for this month until she begins receiving paychecks for the new job. Mother would also be interested in working with a faith based organization as a job when she is not doing the as needed position.

This family is trying to set up separate residences for both parents. Father's work schedule is fluid. Mother has a lot of appointments. The parents and babysitter have to share a car seat. Due to the frequency at which the caregivers exchange baby, they could use another car seat. This would cut down on time and effort, which will help decrease stress on caregivers and baby.

Single mom needs furniture before her son can be released from a major university hospital at which he's scheduled for a bone marrow transplant. He suffers a rare genetic immunodeficiency disease. The boy's father refinanced the house to provide new flooring (sterile environment) but the family has no funds left for furniture. All the old furniture had to be thrown away due to risk of dust, dander and mold. All furniture must now be hard-surface and able to be sterilized. They need a desk, a desk chair, a recliner, end tables, a coffee table and a corner TV stand. All used furniture has to come from a smoke-free, pet-free home and not mildewed due to risk of infection for the boy.

Family of three adults and nine children are behind on the electric bill. They had to divert funds from utilities to purchasing kerosene as their landlady refuses to fix the rental home's heating system. The total due is $1,200 but a payment of $495 by Dec. 11 will avoid shutoff. They have utilized all local agencies for aid this year. They cannot apply for crisis assistance until January 1, 2024, from the local Dept. of Social Services.

Both parents work long hours and are having issues with animals tearing open the garbage cans at the end of the driveway. The Family is looking for a closing bin that can be placed at the end of the driveway to keep animals out and reduce the potential for loose trash.
