I am a school social worker at Gerner Family Education Center. Our building services ages 3-5 all of which have a variety of needs that are accommodated via special education or meet income requirements for our programming. One area that we have seen as a huge need is for diapers and pull ups. Because WIC limitations and the every rising cost of these items, we have experiencing several families that are not able to provide the appropriate amount of pull ups and diapers to meet the needs of their child. We have had several families that have to stretch their diapers beyond their use time which is causing potential skin rashes and overall discomfort for our already disadvantaged children. By having a supply of readily available pull ups and wipes for classroom and parent use would drastically fill a huge need. The size of diapers are as follows: Size 1 (infant) 2 boxes
Size 3T, 4T and 5T pull ups... Enough to give one box to each classroom. Happy Bottoms has been a great resource however with a need this large they are not able to assist.
Special Instructions:
The size of diapers are as follows: Size 1 (infant) 2 boxes
Size 3T, 4T and 5T pull ups... Enough to give one box to each high need classroom (we have around 10 high need classrooms)

I am requesting utility assistance for a family who is close to having their electricity shut off. Mom suffered a stroke and was out of work for several months while she recovered. Because she is a single mom, the family was without their main source of income, and was unable to keep up with their bills. They are now facing a large bill she is unable to pay in full as she has not yet returned to work. She is near to being fully recovered and will return to work soon, but is needing assistance in this short time in between. This utility assistance will ensure the family's electricity and provide great financial relief as she returns to work and is able to recover financially as well.

This family had their water shut off. There was a leak back in April and May that the landlord fixed, however, there was miscommunication about the over due amount and who was responsible for the over due amount between the family, the landlord and the water company. The water company will not negotiate to work with family on a payment plan because the water is officially shut off and they can not do a payment plan if the account is in shut off. The total amount owed is $4313.46. Mom is able to pay $1000 on it and she has reached out to another resource that said they would pay $600 if she found a way to come up with the other amount. Mom also applied for the LIHWAP and will be waiting to hear back but that can take up to 30 days. Mom has reached out to several other agencies that have shared they are unable to help. Mom is very interested in budget counseling to ensure this does not happen again.

This bill being paid will simply bless this family. If you contact this worker i can get you a copy of the bill to make payment for this family. Thank you and be blessed. Chuck
This family has had everything thrown at them for the last couple months- Mom had car issues which prevented her from working for a bit, and her child was struggling with significant mental health issues that mom and social worker worked together to get services wrapped around. She finally felt like she was getting her feet under her- got her car back, is back to work, and then was hit with a shut off notice on her gas bill. She Informed social worker that she needs to get at least half of it paid for this week in order to avoid it being shut off. She is confident she will be able to pay the rest of the balance off now that she has reliable transportation again, but she just needs help with getting this half paid for.

Her finances, phone, email and means of communication have been allegedly compromised and she is in the process of filing additional police charges. Lice treatment kits are needed to restock the school social worker's office to be able to provide lice treatment resources to families and students that do not have the financial means to be able to afford these products on their own. Being able to provide these resources to the family as soon as lice are found allows for treatment to begin quicker and for students to return to school as soon as possible once treatment has begun.
Special Instructions:
Please bring to our front office between the hours of 8-5 Monday - Friday, or drop off can be arranged with social worker.

Grandparents have taken in 4 grandchildren, and are in need of resources to help better provide for the children. A gas card would be helpful as they take the kids to and from necessary appointments and activities.

An 8yr old boy with Autism gets out of the house and runs towards a pond that is close to the home. The mom would like for child to have swimming lessons so that if he is around water he will be safe. The child does not know how to swim or float. The mom has found somewhere for children with Autism to have swimming lessons, Platte City YMCA. The sessions are 208.00 a session, and the mom feels that if he goes to a couple and she can observe that she will be able to work with her son alone

Hello there, we just placed a fifteen-year-old child with her great grandmother. The great grandmother is on a fixed income and is in need of a twin mattress and box spring for the child that we placed with her today. The great grandmother is also caring for another grandchild that she has adopted.
The grandmother has had the child that we placed with her today since she was a baby. We are hoping that someone could possibly donate this item and deliver it to her home. She lives on the 5th floor at an apartment building, and it would be difficult for her financially as well as physically to get. Thank you so much for your consideration.
A relative placement is requesting assistance with food. She has recently taken in another one of her grandchildren unexpectedly. Getting some assistance with food will help the family while things get settled and adjusted to feeding another growing teenager.

I'm working with a single mom who recently moved to the Kansas City Area with no family support. She and her two daughters are currently living at a motel until they are able to secure affordable, safe housing. She had an unexpected car repair and is needing assistance paying the rent for her motel room. Parent currently is working and will be able to pay for the room moving forward. Helping this family will ensure that they do not end up living in a shelter.

M is a youth who came into care for homelessness and medical neglect. M is autistic and was placed with his grandmother upon coming into care. His grandmother is on a restricted income through SSI. Since M came into care grandma has been trying to get him to the medical appointments he has missed. M has a heart condition and has to see a cardiologist annually and take medication everyday. M's dental care was also neglected, and grandma has made an appointment for that as well. Grandma's alternator went out on her car and she now has no way to get M to his doctors appointments. Grandma and M are trying to utilize rides from acquaintances until they are able to get repairs on the car done. They cannot afford repairs and it is important for M to get to his appointments. They are in need of help with getting this repair done and purchasing an alternator.

Family of 5 needs help paying rent this month. This is a single parent household. The parent was unable to work for several days this month due to illness and also experienced some unforeseen expenses. This assistance would really help them get back on their feet and support the children in maintaining a consistent place to live!

I am working with a family from Micronesia that has a son with Cerebral Palsy. The parents have struggled to be able to maintain Dr. appointments for their child due to having to work to ensure that they are able to pay their bills.
Currently both parents are employed and medical appointments are up to date.
In order to maintain their momentum they could use some assistance to help pay some (or all) of their outstanding utility bills.
Currently their water bill is $1049.13, $890.80 of that amount is past due.
Last month the family was able to put $200 towards the bill. They seem to be capable of covering their monthly bills, they are having a lot of difficulty though recovering from when they were not able to.
The extra support from the community will help ensure that they don't have to neglect medical appointments in the future due to not being able to afford to take the time off of work.
Their son could also use his own twin sixed bed frame and bedding (he loves Spiderman!!)
Any assistance towards this would be greatly appreciated. The family knows that it is a large bill and is grateful for any support they can get.

A resilient mom of two small children ages 1 and 3 years old is in need of assistance. The young mother is currently enrolled in community college and is also in the process of finding a job and will soon age out of foster care. Although she has been faced with many obstacles, the young lady is very strong & driven to succeed. She does a good job with taking care of her two small children and also helps out with her younger siblings when she visits them. The young mom tries her best to make sure her little girls are taken care of and she loves doing their hair in cute little hairstyles. She is in need of some things for the girls that would get them through the upcoming fall & winter months. She is asking for a pack n play, stroller, diapers, wipes & clothes for her 1year old daughter. She is also in need of a toddler bed, clothes, shoes, & hair accessories for her 3-year-old daughter. If you are able to help this young mom of 2 with these things or know of someone who may already have these items, it would greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
