Clay County Children's Division frequently works with families who do not have transportation, but they need to get their children to the hospital, to forensic interviews, or to other vital appointments. These appointments are often unplanned and urgent. We are requesting 5 $50 Uber cards to have available when these unexpected needs arise.

The family just had a newborn and is needing a bed, parents are currently sleeping on air mattress.

Single mom of two children (one with significant medically complexity) is struggling to pay her rent this month due to misplacing the already purchased money order for their income-based housing. Mother has taken great lengths to locate the misplaced payment but has come up short. There aren't any community agencies able to help until she has received a formal eviction notice which she doesn't want to risk due to the need for stable housing of her medically complex child. Please consider assisting with this tangible need!

This family of soon-to-be four are dealing with unsanitary living conditions, and need to move out of their apartment. There is a clog in the bathroom, and sewage water is overflowing into the apartment. The landlord is refusing to work with the family, as their names are not on the lease- they are subleasing from a friend who has been deported. Mom is pregnant, and cannot be around the sewage. Mom found an apartment they can afford, but need help with the application fee of $80 and the deposit of $450. Once they get those covered, they should be able to cover rent and other bills each month with no problems. The family would like to move as soon as possible, as their current living arrangement is unlivable.

A young mother has escaped a domestic violence situation with the father of her baby, the baby has recently come into care. The baby is placed with a kinship provider; the mother is working two jobs and providing for her baby, although the baby is not in her home currently. Please consider donating an Uber gift card to assist this mother with visiting her daughter.

This request is to help a family new to the area furnish their apartment. The family consists of a first grade student, a younger sibling, mom, and stepdad. The family recently relocated from Kansas and have spent most of their funds on the move. Mom was previously employed in Kansas, but they do not own a vehicle and mom could not afford to continue using Uber to get to and from work at a longer distance. Mom is actively looking for a new job in the area. When the family moved, they were only able to borrow two cars to transport items and were unable to move a majority of their things. The family was able to get beds for the children but are needing assistance with furnishing their living area and getting kitchen items. They are currently using paper plates and plastic cutlery for meals.

The school community closet Warrior Closet gives every kid who visits for back-to-school backpack and school clothes shopping a brand new pair of shoes to start school in. We are preparing for our August 5th opening back. We had 99 kids come through last year for the three-day 6hrs of events. I like to put this out early so people contributing can keep an eye on the sales and when, especially Famous footwear and or Rackroom, do buy one get one 1/2 off bogos on shoes and backpacks. They also put a lot of shoes on clearance that you can buy with the BOGOs too. The kids 11 through size 1 love the character shoes. The 2 and or above ones I would do something they can wear more with everything.

Family is new to the KC area and speaks Hatian Creole. Family speaks limited English and has a limited support system. They have a disconnect notice for their electricity. I have called several agencies about getting assistance and cannot find one that has funds available until next month but I didn't want their electricity to get shut off in the mean time.

This request is to help a single mother and her elementary student furnish their new apartment. The family arrived in the United States one year ago and were residing with extended family in a 2-bedroom apartment. Due to domestic violence, the family left and through the support of CarePortal, were able to secure their own apartment. The family does not have the financial means to furnish their new space. The family does not have living room furniture such as a couch or chairs. A staff member at the student's school has offered to donate those items, however we do not currently have a way to transport them to the family. The family also is in need of kitchen utensils and cookware, plates, bowls, and cups, two dressers, kitchen chairs, and cleaning supplies. They currently do not own any cleaning items to be able to use.

These foster parents are outstanding advocates for the children in their care. One of their current placements is a child undergoing dialysis treatment three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, for several hours each day. Due to her medical needs, foster child is unable to attend traditional school full-time.

Foster mom has been a tireless advocate for the child's education. She has proactively pursued both a 504 Plan and an Individualized Education Program (IEP) to ensure foster child receives the academic support she deserves. Foster mom has coordinated with school district officials, principals, and even representatives from the Kansas Department of Education to secure the best possible resources for foster child.

Thanks to foster mom's efforts, the child will begin a hybrid school program next year, attending in person on non-dialysis days. This marks a significant milestone as it will be the child's first in-person school experience in four years.

The foster family is currently requesting a Chromebook or Amazon gift cards to offset the cost of the Chromebook for the foster child. This is essential for her hybrid learning model. The school district will not provide this resource.

Single mom with one child. The family just moved into Hilcrest transitional housing. Mom works full time but is without transportation. She is having to pay for uber/lyft and that has become costly. I am requesting Uber/Lyft gift cards for the family so mom and child can get to work and school.
