Single mom and two kids, ages 16 and 6 are in need of financial assistance to pay gas bill and get gas services turned back on at their home. The children's father was killed on Memorial Day and he was paying the bill for the family. With assistance, the gas will get turned back on in the home and this single mom of two will be able to catch up and start fresh with this bill moving forward through the grieving process.

I am requesting utility assistance for a family who is close to having their electricity shut off. Mom suffered a stroke and was out of work for several months while she recovered. Because she is a single mom, the family was without their main source of income, and was unable to keep up with their bills. They are now facing a large bill she is unable to pay in full as she has not yet returned to work. She is near to being fully recovered and will return to work soon, but is needing assistance in this short time in between. This utility assistance will ensure the family's electricity and provide great financial relief as she returns to work and is able to recover financially as well.

This family had their water shut off. There was a leak back in April and May that the landlord fixed, however, there was miscommunication about the over due amount and who was responsible for the over due amount between the family, the landlord and the water company. The water company will not negotiate to work with family on a payment plan because the water is officially shut off and they can not do a payment plan if the account is in shut off. The total amount owed is $4313.46. Mom is able to pay $1000 on it and she has reached out to another resource that said they would pay $600 if she found a way to come up with the other amount. Mom also applied for the LIHWAP and will be waiting to hear back but that can take up to 30 days. Mom has reached out to several other agencies that have shared they are unable to help. Mom is very interested in budget counseling to ensure this does not happen again.

A grandmother is the primary caretaker of her three grandsons, one of whom is already adopted and the other two are in the process of being adopted. In June of 2023, the family lost their home to a fire and were unable to save any personal items. They have recently found housing and have some furniture, but they are needing more. The family is needing a full size mattress and bed frame for the grandmother, 3 dressers for each of the boys, a tv for the living room, and a washer and dryer.

Mom has a Section 8 voucher for housing. However, she is in need of the deposit to be able to move in on October 1, 2023. She is currently enrolled in school, a 7 week phlebotomy program. She is doing well on her case plan tasks. This will help the family move closer to reintegration. Currently, the children are placed with their aunt. There is a strong family unit of support, they just do not have the funds to help her with this financial need.

This family has had everything thrown at them for the last couple months- Mom had car issues which prevented her from working for a bit, and her child was struggling with significant mental health issues that mom and social worker worked together to get services wrapped around. She finally felt like she was getting her feet under her- got her car back, is back to work, and then was hit with a shut off notice on her gas bill. She Informed social worker that she needs to get at least half of it paid for this week in order to avoid it being shut off. She is confident she will be able to pay the rest of the balance off now that she has reliable transportation again, but she just needs help with getting this half paid for.

Lice treatment kits are needed to restock the school social worker's office to be able to provide lice treatment resources to families and students that do not have the financial means to be able to afford these products on their own. Being able to provide these resources to the family as soon as lice are found allows for treatment to begin quicker and for students to return to school as soon as possible once treatment has begun. Special Instructions: Please bring to our front office between the hours of 8-5 Monday - Friday, or drop off can be arranged with social worker.

An 8yr old boy with Autism gets out of the house and runs towards a pond that is close to the home. The mom would like for child to have swimming lessons so that if he is around water he will be safe. The child does not know how to swim or float. The mom has found somewhere for children with Autism to have swimming lessons, Platte City YMCA. The sessions are 208.00 a session, and the mom feels that if he goes to a couple and she can observe that she will be able to work with her son alone

Hello there, we just placed a fifteen-year-old child with her great grandmother. The great grandmother is on a fixed income and is in need of a twin mattress and box spring for the child that we placed with her today. The great grandmother is also caring for another grandchild that she has adopted. The grandmother has had the child that we placed with her today since she was a baby. We are hoping that someone could possibly donate this item and deliver it to her home. She lives on the 5th floor at an apartment building, and it would be difficult for her financially as well as physically to get. Thank you so much for your consideration.

This is actually for a family on the KS in JOCO, but I had to try to find someone to help. Mother and son are going to be evicted and need their rent paid as soon as possible with the last possible day being the 25th of september. Mom was unemployed due to her car being wrecked but recently she has started a new job and should be able to sustain the family going forward after this. Mom is so worried about having to move because they have no support system here and her son really loves the school he goes to, has made a lot of friends, and likes being able to be on a sports team. Mom was able to pay part of her rent but they still owe 1241.80. Mom has not asked for help in the past and when we talked she just said, "it's really hard for me to say this, but I need help. I don't know what else to do".

M is a youth who came into care for homelessness and medical neglect. M is autistic and was placed with his grandmother upon coming into care. His grandmother is on a restricted income through SSI. Since M came into care grandma has been trying to get him to the medical appointments he has missed. M has a heart condition and has to see a cardiologist annually and take medication everyday. M's dental care was also neglected, and grandma has made an appointment for that as well. Grandma's alternator went out on her car and she now has no way to get M to his doctors appointments. Grandma and M are trying to utilize rides from acquaintances until they are able to get repairs on the car done. They cannot afford repairs and it is important for M to get to his appointments. They are in need of help with getting this repair done and purchasing an alternator.

I am working with a family from Micronesia that has a son with Cerebral Palsy. The parents have struggled to be able to maintain Dr. appointments for their child due to having to work to ensure that they are able to pay their bills. Currently both parents are employed and medical appointments are up to date. In order to maintain their momentum they could use some assistance to help pay some (or all) of their outstanding utility bills. Currently their water bill is $1049.13, $890.80 of that amount is past due. Last month the family was able to put $200 towards the bill. They seem to be capable of covering their monthly bills, they are having a lot of difficulty though recovering from when they were not able to. The extra support from the community will help ensure that they don't have to neglect medical appointments in the future due to not being able to afford to take the time off of work. Their son could also use his own twin sixed bed frame and bedding (he loves Spiderman!!) Any assistance towards this would be greatly appreciated. The family knows that it is a large bill and is grateful for any support they can get.

Hello there again, I placed a 15-year-old female in her great grandmother's home yesterday. She came with nothing, and we are scrambling to get her some basic needs. The grandmother also cares for another one of her grandchildren. Her only income is social security. The grandmother cried for joy when she found out that KVC would be placing with her. We are hoping that maybe we could get some individuals to go in on a gift card for her to get some toiletries, shoes and clothing. We are also working to get these items as well. Any amount is welcome and appreciated. Thank you so much for your continued support!

Biological mother has done very well with her progress in the family treatment court and recently has began a trial home placement with her daughter. Biological mom works and tries to get in 40 hours week but at times not able to do so due to schedule and other services she is involved in with the court. She recently purchased a vehicle to help with transporting her child to and from daycare and other daily needs. She is in need of assistance of help with registering her vehicle and help with paying for taxes for the vehicle she purchased. Any assistance in this would greatly help this mother and child continue to be successful staying as a family unit and the ability for mom to continue to stay employed and transport her child to and from daycare with goal for reunification for mom and child. Mom has an older child residing in another city with biological father and mother receives weekend visits which the vehicle has helped with maintaining this important bond. This worker is asking for any monetary assistance in helping her get her vehicle registered and licensed. Also, gas cards would be greatly appreciated. Deadline for taxes/registration of vehicle, tags expire: September 19th, 2023
