There is a family here in Bedford that has been on a waitlist for income based housing and had to reside in a motel until they have the financial means to move otherwise. Recently, there was a trailer through a private landlord that offered to rent to them but since they are on a fixed income - coming up with all the money to cover initial move in costs has found to be extremely difficult. All the family needs at this point is money for their water deposit in order to get their water turned on. If this need is met, the family will finally be able to move out of the motel and into more sustainable, safer housing.

I am working with a family that includes the grandfather who is a vet, his daughter and his grandson whom all live in the home. The family lives in a hoarding situation and desperately needs assistance with getting the home clean. Currently the grandfather has a boot on each foot for medical reasons, and the daughter is not mobile and in a hospital bed. The living conditions appear to be getting worse and are unsafe for the child. We are asking for either a team to help clean the home (we do recommend protective wear for this job) or assistance paying for a cleaning service and any recommendations of cleaning services that accommodate this kind of situation. If the home is not clean the child will be at risk of coming into care. The child has a very special bond with his grandfather, and we are working very hard to prevent him from being removed.

A sibling group of three are currently in foster care and are in separate placements. We are requesting for a twin bed frame, box spring, and mattress, as well as a toddler and booster seat. DSS is working with their grandfather to get custody of the children. The house is in need of a bed for one of the children, as well as car seats for 2 of the children. Getting these requested objects will help ensure that if or when custody is transferred to the grandparents, they have all needed objects for their home to ensure a smooth transition.

We are seeking a toddler bed and mattress to assist a local kinship family in transitioning their toddler out of a pack and play and into her own bed for the first time.

A single mom with three young children is currently in need of beds for her two toddlers. The whole family currently sleeps together in a queen-sized bed which is both a safety hazardous and a hinderance to their well-being as the mother is unable to sleep through the night. The family is requesting a twin-size bed/mattress for the 4-year-old and a toddler bed/mattress for the 2-year-old. Additionally, the family is in need of another dresser as the space they are staying in does not have closets causing storage to be limited. A gently used dresser would be accepted if donated.

A student is needing dental work pretty severly. The sibling just had dental work done a few months ago and the family can not afford to cover the dental work their second child is now needing.

The procedure was schedule, but the clinic would not proceed with it until the $100 from his previous appointment was paid for and the total for Phase 1 ($1,338.00) is paid. School personel has spoken with the dental office and they will not set the family up on a payment plan. Once phase 1 is done, they will then make an appointment for Phase 2, and again will not proceed with it until it is paid for ahead of time.

The proposed bill is $2,466.00 total.

TWIN MATTRESSES | Children ages 2 and 3 in the home. Parents have a bunk bed for the children and are in need of two twin mattresses for the bed.

A mother is in the process of moving herself and her children out of her ex-partner’s home to begin a fresh start. She is in need of essential furniture to help create a safe and comfortable new space for her family. Specifically, she is looking for beds — ideally a full-size, a queen, and a toddler bed. Additionally, any dressers, a dining table with chairs, or other household items that could support this transition would be deeply appreciated. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference during this important time of rebuilding.

I am working with a single mother with two children, and she is in need of a window AC unit for the home. If anyone has a used one available, or would be willing to contribute financially to secure this need for the family, it would be greatly appreciated!

The Department is humbly seeking assistance in our extended community for donations to help ease the financial strain during this emotional time. A single mother was unexpectedly laid off and it has left her family with significant financial challenges. As a result of the release, the mother has recently lost her personal property to include her house and vehicle. She is accompanied by her 6 year old daughter. The pair are now considered homeless. With the Department’s support, her child has now been enrolled in school to promote any normalcy during this hardship. With this being said, the mother now has the ability to seek employment while her child is being properly supervised. Nevertheless, her license needs to get reinstated in order for her to transport herself to and from her anticipated occupation. The mother is working on her Master’s Degree and is one step closely on filling her dream, regaining control of her life, and securing a safe haven for her family. The Department is asking or $650.00 in hopes of helping her get there.

Hello! A grandmother recently became emergency approved as a foster parent for her 5 year old granddaughter through our agency. She is currently going through a divorce while now trying to raise her granddaughter. She is in need of a twin sized trundle bed and mattress so that the child has an appropriate place to sleep in her home. Currently the child is sleeping in her bed, and she is sleeping on the sofa. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We have a family here in Bedford that is currently residing at the Bedford Motel due to their home situation that became dangerous and they had to flee at a moments notice. They were able to cover 2 weeks worth of stay at the Bedford Motel but have been looking for housing that is within their budget. A trailer has become available but money is already tight, let alone paying for a first months rent, security deposit and a $300 water deposit. She has been reaching out for financial assistance within the community but continues to come up short and is seeking any kind of help possible to cover some of the initial expenses. If this need is met, not only will the mother and daughter have stable housing but they will be in a safe environment where they can attend school/work without additional stressors.
