High Urgency Request
A family is currently residing in a home that has no electric and no water. The father is currently working, but they are unable to keep up with the utilities due to his hours being cut. The mother recently had a newborn so she is unable to work at this time. This young couple has continued to put money towards the bill, but they have limited income and this has caused their bill to become past due and the utilities are currently shut off. This family has been resourceful, but the utilities are needed to reunify the children in the home. The utilities needed to be paid are the water, electric, and gas. The electric and water is currently shut off, but the gas is currently on so the family can have heat. Any amount would be appreciated.

Hi there! I have a non-paid kinship placement that is in need of some financial assistance. They have fallen behind on some bills and would greatly benefit from any help that you may be able to provide. Again, this is a non-paid kinship placement and they have been such a blessing to the girls placed in their care. Any help you may be able to provide would immensely appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for your time and consideration!

A 10 month old baby boy was recently placed in a newly certified foster home who has not received their first foster care payment. Mother of three has taken placement of four children who are related to her. These children were removed from their past placement and in need of immediate care. Maintaining this placement would keep the children near family and reduce the trauma of relocation. In order to effectively keep them in her care she is in need of transportation that would accommodate all seven children, two of which are still in car seats and one in need of a booster seat. She currently drives a car that seats five and is unable to coordinate transportation to and from school or even take everyone out for fast food. DHS is hoping to at least be able to assist foster mom with a significant down payment or tax and title for her to purchase a vehicle that would meet their needs. However ideas for assistance of any type would be welcome.

This need is for a mother and child who have recently reunified. The mother frequently rides her bike or takes the bus. This one child bike trailer/stroller would allow her child to not have to walk so far to catch the bus and enable her to take the bike when necessary. The one that I found to be the best bargain is at Walmart and is the Allen Sports Deluxe 2-Child Bicycle Trailer & Stroller. It does not need to be this specific brand and can be donated one that is donated rather than purchased new.

Young mother is trying the get her driver's license reinstated. The Department of Public Safety requires that she take a drug and alcohol assessment to do so. The cost for the assessment is $160. Mother is being very vigilant is engaging with her treatment plan for the Department and has been testing negative for our treatment plan. Hello there. I have a family who is in need of some assistance paying their water bill. Two weeks ago, one of their children (he is 2 years old with a birthday coming up in April) came down with a very bad case of RSV. He had to be hospitalized for 3 nights. As he began to recover, the rest of the household became ill. As a result, the family has faced some unforeseen financial hardships (caregivers missing work, multiple doctor's visits, paying for medications, etc.). This family would really appreciate any kind of help you may be able to provide at this time. Thank you so much in advance for your time and consideration!

I am working with a foster family who has placement of an 11 month old boy. He is becoming mobile, and the family has been able to obtain some safety devices for the home to help with physical safety. However, the foster family is still lacking a baby gate and has requested assistance in getting one. The space where the baby gate is needed is 90 inches in length, and would greatly help this family. We appreciate any assistance that can be offered.

A local group home would love to make a day trip for a teen very special. An outing in February is planned for this teen and the GH staff would love to make this a day just for him. They plan to attend an event he is very interested in; the Monster Truck Jam. They also plan to go out to eat, buy souvenirs, and just make the day very special for him. This young man has been in this home for a number of years and he has formed many friendships. Some of his group home peers have moved on however, and they're move has put a damper on his spirits. The staff at the GH would really love to make the day very special and just for him.

The family consist of a single mother of an 8 yo boy, 6 yo girl, 2 yo boy and is due to give birth to a baby boy in February. The family is currently participating in services through the agency due to some safety concerns. The mother has dealt with several bouts of being homeless and domestic violence issues in the last few years and is working to overcome these obstacles. The mother is in the process of working towards providing a safer atmosphere for herself and her children. In November, the mother had back surgery due to having herniated discs and continues to suffer aches and pains in her back. As of right now, the family is financially impaired as the mother is not employed, nor is she receiving any monetary assistance from anywhere. With that being said, the mother could really benefit from a queen size bed set (as her current one has springs poking through the top) and a mattress protector (as she is very nauseous). Having a mattress in better shape, would take some stress and pressure off her back and may provide some much-needed rest. Mom is also expecting the arrival of her newborn in February and could benefit from some things as well. She was donated a Baby Brezza formula maker and is need of some parts so she can use it. The parts needed are Replacement water tank ($19.99), Funnel and cover ($12.99) and a Bottle grate and drip tray ($11.99). Other baby necessities such as newborn and size one diapers and wipes would be of enormous help as well. Updated on January 27, 2023 by an Agency Worker
Three of the four needs have been met. The family could still use some help with supplies ($50).

Hello, I have a family that is starting reunification with their children. It is two parents and three teenagers. The mother is paralyzed and in need of new bedding, and currently only has an old hospital blanket to lay under. The mother stated they did not have sheets and blankets for the beds in the home. The children are also in need of new bedding. This family is trying hard to get back to their normal and I wanted to try and help with a little of the stress by allowing them to be able to sleep on new sheets and blankets. Thank you in advance for any help out there, and always know OKDHS really appreciates all the help we receive for our families.
