CASA Thanksgiving Drive! Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our valued community partners, Advocates for Children CASA has been able to provide the hundreds of children and families we work alongside with Thanksgiving Meal Baskets. This year, our organization is hoping to collaborate with CarePortal and the network of churches to help feed our families. Our mission is to improve the lives of children and youth who have experienced abuse, neglect, or other life challenges, by connecting them with volunteer advocates and activating community partnerships. If you and your church would like to assemble meal baskets for CASA families, please see the list of items below. Thank you for supporting local children and families!

This mother is immensely struggling. We have begun working with this family and have to come to find the conditions they are living in are less than ideal. Currently, the two children and mother are on the floor as they await beds we have ordered. We are hoping to find someone to support the family with 3 complete sets of bedding and pillows. With the colder months quickly approaching we want to provide some warmth and comfort as soon as possible as we continue to address other concerns. We are happy to receive monetary support and purchase through Amazon or we can work with you and direct you to the items online for purchase. Thank you so much for the consideration and support!

I am working with three children (13, 6, and 4) who are placed with their maternal grandparents who plan to adopt them in the near future.
The 13 y/o is in eighth grade and his school is going on a class trip in May of 2024 to Washington D.C. and New York. My kiddo has never expressed interest in much and he is often shut down and does not like engaging in activities like this, but he has expressed a high interest in going on this class trip. He lost his mother to an overdose about three months ago, so all of us are very excited to see him coming out of his shell a bit more since this difficult loss. The cost is about $2000 and the family understands the cost is a lot and will make whatever payments they need. Any assistance in funding this trip would be appreciated by myself and the family! I put $50 in the needs box, but any amount is appreciated.

I am working with a mother of a three-year old. Mom is single and working full time to make ends meet. She recently dropped her phone which caused the screen to shatter. She needs her phone to communicate with professionals and to know about important dates related to this case. To get the screen replaced will cost her about $200, which she does not have right now. I am asking for a replacement phone so that she can be compliant with her case requirements and to avoid costing her too much money at this time. The phone does not need to be fancy, just something she can check emails, make calls, and send texts on!

Biomother endured a very serious domestic violence incident recently and is a bit behind financially. Biomother has 5 children who are very lovely. Biomother could use some additional support this month with food. This could be in the form of a King Soopers or Walmart gift card or she is willing to send a grocery list to a donner.

We are working with a family that has a 14-year-old girl who we got involved with about a year ago due to neglect while living with her adoptive mother. While we were involved, we were able to track down her birth mother who hadn't seen her daughter in ten years and was able to take her daughter back, which the young girl is incredibly happy about. The daughter does have some socioemotional issues and can become escalated behind closed doors. We want to provide an outlet at home and a hobby that she has been interested in participating in. We are hoping to provide a boxing bag and some gloves for her to utilize during these moments and overall, for her mental and physical health. If you are willing to provide, I will direct you to the right bag and gloves on Amazon. Thank you so much!

This family is composed of mom and 3 children. They just moved to CO to get away from a domestic violence relationship with the children's father. There are also concerns regarding someone in dad's family sexually abusing the children. Mom moved to CO to escape that as well. Mom has been working really hard to keep her children safe. Mom has been looking for jobs every day since she has been here and at the same time has been working to enroll her child into school, get therapy for her son, and apply for CCAP so that her youngest two children can have child care so she can work to support the family. Mom has not asked me for much help but she is struggling right now handling everything on her own. Mom is worried that she is going to lose her car because she owes $400 by the end of next week (on 9/22). Mom does not have money to pay this right now because with everything going on she has not yet been able to start working. Mom is still actively trying get a job and begin working as soon as possible. Mom is worried that if she looses her car, she will not be able to get to work, get her kids to school/daycare, or take her kids to their therapy. Mom has worked so hard to move away from an unsafe environment and assure that her kids are safe. I am looking to see if there is anyone who can help support her in paying the monthly pymt of $400 or the remaining balance of $2700.

Kinship caregiver is in need of some living room furniture. Since taking in her kinship child, the children have done a lot of damage to the sofa and completely broke the tv stand. The caregiver is requesting a dark grey or black sofa (to hide the kids messes :) ). Gently used is acceptable, but she is concerned about bed bugs. The caregiver would also like a small TV stand or dresser (so it can double as storage).
Navigator working with a family of 4 who is needing help with clothes for their new baby boy. Mom is currently not working due to having a baby in July. Hello!
I have a single mother that is really struggling financially despite her being employed. She feels that everything is piling up on her and she overwhelmed with meeting her financial obligations while caring for her two teen children. I currently have an open request for car repairs on her vehicle that is in high need of repairs. Mom is still driving it as she doesn't have another option and would like help with a gas card to be able to go to work and take the children to school when the bus isn't running. The family would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you!
