Single mom with 4 children is in critical need of a place to stay. She has triplets that are 6 months old and an 18th month old as well. She is getting out of a domestic abuse situation and will be out by the end of this week. She is a strong mother who is looking to turn her life around and get herself in a position to take care of herself and her children. We are looking to move her into a home that is very suitable for what will be best for her and her children. In order to do this, she is needing help to pay the rent. She has not been able to work due to the chaos that has been taking place. Paying the rent will allow her to move into this home and transition into this new life she has been hoping for.

Single mom with 4 children is needing assistance in paying rent. She has gotten behind because she has not been able to work due to her mother being in the hospital and then having to stay at home once she was out to take care of her. She is living paycheck to paycheck and needing help to get back on her feet. She is a great mother who is trying to take care of her children to the best of her abilities. Helping pay her rent would allow her to continue to take care of the needs of her children, like paying for food and other important necessities.

Mother and father with their 3 children (ages 7 months, 7 years, and 5 years old) moved to Kansas City from Houston recently and are homeless. We have been keeping them in a hotel for the past week and we are needing to extend their stay for an additional week so they have more time to figure out their next move. The parents are very dedicated in trying to figure out work and a living situation so they can go about and take care of their 3 children. We would love to bless them with another hotel stay for a week, and would appreciate any help!

Father of 3 needing assistance with paying for gas and groceries. The family has just recently gotten into an apartment after living between a car and a hotel for months. After utilities and rent were paid no money remains for gas to get the kids to summer school, to pick up groceries, and get Dad to work.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Mother and father with their 3 children (ages 7 months, 7, and 5) moved to Kansas City from Houston recently and are homeless. The job he came here for fell through. With this extreme heat going on, we are trying our best to keep them in a cool, safe living environment. We are looking to have them stay at a hotel for a couple nights until we can come up with a long term plan for this family. By helping them with a hotel stay, we can allow them time to figure out their next move. We would also love to help them with groceries and other necessary items!

They need assistance with food, clothing, and this month's rent. They have paid all the rest of their bills. Dad is the only one working so their budget is tight. Mom does not speak english as they have only been in the US from Guatemala for just a year. The children sizes are 14-16 boys, 7-8 boys, 18 months boy, and 6X girls. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

***Update*** Utilities for this family have been disconnected. Some payments have been made however, a $2,000 balance remains to reconnect service. A mother with two kids is in need of assistance with utilities asap. The family was abandoned by the husband/father and is now at risk for service disconnection. The mother works hard but has been struggling to stay on top of things since being abandoned by her husband. She's been trying to borrow money from family and friends but time is running out. She is afraid that losing electricity will put the family at risk and that her children could possibly be taken from her. Any Assistance for this family would be greatly appreciated. Mom received a shut-off notice on 5/23/22 for $3,265.24

A family with 3 children is in need of assistance to pay for the father's surgery, so that they don't fall behind on rent. The father is the only source of income for the family, so recovering from surgery will also impact the family's income and ability to pay bills.

EPM is a young woman who has already had a very hard year so far. She began the year in the hospital getting ECT therapy for her mental health and has since recently been released. While she was in the hospital she got back into her faith and has began going to church weekly and this has helped her the most. She has a past sexual abuse history resulting in giving birth to her daughter at 15 years old. Both EPM and her daughter are in foster care and EPM is working hard now that she has gotten the help she needs for her mental health she is working very hard to better her situation. EPM is working reintegration and wants to give her daughter the best life she can. She has enrolled in summer classes to work towards getting her LPN license, however, she is not ready to age out of foster care yet. I want to do what I can to get these classes paid for so that she doesn't have to worry about coming up with the money. She will get her classes paid for once she ages out of foster care but while she is still in it doesn't get covered. Please help me get these fees paid for to help both girls. Thank you!

AP is a 17 year old working at completing all her tasks needed to age out of foster care. She had done really well over the last 6 months catch up on credit hours to make sure she is going to be able to graduate next year on time with her class. I want to be able to surprise her with helping her and her foster parent with driver's education this summer. Her foster mom, was her teacher and when AP lost her placement she agreed to take her in. She is a widow, who recently lost her husband, and I think that AP came along at a really good time. They are really doing good working together as a family. Please help me get driver's education paid for. Thank you.

This child came into DCF custody in October 2021 and she is 17 years old with a case plan goal of independent living. Her goal is not able to be reunification unfortunately to her dad being in prison and her mother being homeless and absent from her life since November 2021. This teen is striving to do everything she can to make better choices for her life- despite missing her first two years of high school due to homelessness and the Covid-19 pandemic, she has worked diligently this year and is on track to graduate with her peers in May 2023. She has dreams of going to a college, getting a job and getting her own place. At this time, she has an immediate need for clothing. Since she is on the path to independent living, she does not have expendable income to use for clothes and shoes at this time, and is desperately in need of clothes that fit her for the summer and that are in a style she likes. Her case manager wants to take her shopping so she can choose things for herself, and with the donation of gift cards, this can be made possible. Thank you for your generosity.

We responded to a CarePortal request for this family back in September. Bio family had just reintegrated with their two female children ages 5 and 4 and were needing help with rent and two dressers. We were able to connect on both of the needs and met this sweet family in person to deliver the items. Soon after, a car battery installation was needed and before we even had a chance to have one of our volunteers get over there to help, dad had already taken care of it himself. They have a strong desire to be independent.
We have been staying in touch with them and they recently let us know that the vehicle had broken down for good. Thankfully, they have another car they can use if the past due payment on it is made. They are able to afford the monthly payments on their own, they just need help getting caught up. Any amount is appreciated and will help get them closer to self-sufficiency again.

We are asking a big request, for funds towards a deposit for a new car for a loving single aunt who took in three children in need. Her car needs more expenses than she can handle, leaving her with a car that is unsafe to drive. She is better off putting a down payment on a new car that can provide safe transportation for five children. Any generousity towards this request is appreciated. The family is open to any used vehicle options

Hello, I have a single dad that is in an oxford house trying to stay clean. He has lost his job due to layoffs and he cannot afford his rent. He is very scared that if he gets kicked out he will lose all his sober supports. He is also afraid that he won't get visits with his children. Please help him get caught up in rent an by him some time to look for a new job.
Thank you

As a previous worker at Children's Division I know first hand the stress and hard work these workers go through. I would love to spread some love to the local Children's Division office downtown KC by supplying them with an Ice Maker. This seem like a small thing but they have been needing an ice maker since I was there 2 1/2 years ago and even before then. They have an older fridge that they have some ice trays in the freezer but that is not enough for everyone to add some ice to their beverages. An Ice maker would be a huge blessing to these workers as they can grab ice and water on their way to their next visit. They could grab ice for the soda donated to them from churches.
I have done some research on ice makers and have found a few that could work for their break room space. I am asking $500 for the ice maker and an additional $500 to help cheer up their break room adding new chairs, tables and items to make it feel more inviting and comfortable.
These items could go a long way for these workers and just in time for the hot days coming up! Thank you!

An infant that is just over a year old and placed with relative caregivers, is in need of a new crib and crib mattress. The current crib the infant is using has begun to break down and is not safe for an infant to sleep in. We are hoping to purchase a transition crib to grow with this infant who is approaching the toddler age as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two toddler girls came into custody last week, they unfortunately had a placement disrupt in the first week of being placement. KVC is hoping to have the girls placed with their aunt to keep them in a home they are comfortable with. This aunt is needing help providing toddler beds for the girls, mattresses and bed frames.

A single mom with an 8 year-old boy and 9 year-old girl coming out of homelessness after losing disability benefits and are in major need of funding for utility bills. Dad is an addict and not in the picture and uncle on dad's side is helping them get stable. They are staying in an empty house owned by a relative of the uncle and he is paying their rent for now but they are living with no furniture, water or electricity. There are past due balances and activation fees on the electric and water that need to be paid in order for them to be turned on, totaling almost $1500, but any amount helps! We are hoping the CarePortal community can contribute some funds to help get the utilities turned on for this family.

We are looking to strengthen this Bio Family with Rental Assistant. A young mother of 5 children age ranging from 11 months to 7 years old, she is also currently expecting a fifth child. This mother has paid her rent up until the end of April but is not working at this time. However, she is striving to continue to provide for her children with a safe clean environment where she is now living. Recently she has been offered a position to work from home until her child is born, this will give her an opportunity to work and be at home with the children. She needs assistant with her rent for May which is $1076.00. She has not been able to travel to and from work due to her pregnancy, but is now able to work from home. Please assist this young woman with maintaining a safe and comfortable enviroment for her kiddos. Thank you in advance for Strengting this Bio Family.
