Family just recently moved, and mother and father are trying their best to make ends meet. Father was in a car accident. Children do not currently have beds or dressers. Will need to be able to be delivered to the family since they no longer have a vehicle.
Need: Twin size bed, or bunk beds, and dressers. Can be used
I am working with a family that has taken in children from other family members as well as having their own children in the home. They are working with DCCCA to ensure the safety of all the children and are utilizing all possible resources to provide the appropriate care for their family. Currently they are behind on their BPU bill due to increases from using the A/C so much and are unable to pay $300 of the balance due. Any amount donated would be appreciated as they are trying to manage from month to month with somewhat fixed incomes. They receive no support from the parents of the other children. Thank you for considering this request and for all your support in our community!
A teen is in need of a bed in at her cousins place of residence, where she is now currently staying. She is expecting a child soon, and we would like for her and baby to have a comfortable area to sleep. She has recently left a shelter and did not have a place to stay for months before the shelter, that is why she does not have furniture already.

We've got a high schooler who is in foster care for the second time. She is really hoping to be able to join a competitive volleyball league but cannot afford it. $900 is the whole amount needed although any amount would help. This would help her mentally- having an output to go workout/ play. Playing competitive could perhaps make her grow more in the sport and possibly play for college.

I am working with a family of 5 children (3 boys and 2 girls) and a single mom. They have made great strides during our case and have gone from being homeless to having a home and a stable family situation. The family would greatly benefit from having a used washer/dryer set. The mother does not expect a new set and is happy to have anything that works! They have a setup for this in their home but are still going to the laundromat, which is difficult with 6 peoples' clothing and 3 small children who love to run around. :) With the mother's income, it is hard for her to afford these items. I have been blessed to work with this family and they are so close to being able to close their case and continue moving forward with all the skills they have learned. Thank you for considering this request and for all your support in our community!
We are working with a relative placement we have needed to be inventive regarding sleeping pace to allow a youth to remain with family and out of stranger care. The family has re-arranged family living space to accommodate alternative sleeping arrangements for the youth, and is in need of either a futon with mattress or a hide-a bed couch/to be utilized in the living room which will be multi-functioning as both a living room and bedroom for a child in care in order to ensure the child has an adequate sleeping space. A foster mom had to pay out of pocket for child care for her foster daughter - The problem is there weren’t any licensed facilities available for 7 weeks which is why she had to pay out of pocket.
Children’s Division will not reimburse for this. I'd hate to see our foster mom lose so much money due to a shortage of daycare facilities. It's not a utility bill, but it is financial assistance. Any help for this foster mom would be greatly appreciated.

Mom is a single parent who had to spend a lot of money this summer repairing the family car. The family does not have funds for beds and they are currently sleeping on the home's floor. Mom is looking for a twin-sized bunk bed frame and a full-sized frame for the children and herself. A separate request has been put in for mattresses for these frames under the same case #id.

I am working with a family and one parent is struggling with addiction. We have put services in place and are working with the court. Due to missing work hours to take care of these matters, the family is unable to make rent for the month of August. They are being very proactive and seeking help as well as cooperating with service in every way. The other parent who has been staying at home with the two young children is now looking for work to assist with costs in the future. We would like to help the family take care of their rent for the month so that they are able to focus on the work they are doing to get stronger. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you for all your support and prayers for the family would be appreciated as well. Updated on July 27, 2022 by an Agency Worker This needs to be updated to $1,100. I didn't realize that the parents have to pay rent and utilities in one payment. Thanks!
This mother is currently experiencing homelessness and is having to sleep outside. She was diagnosed with Scleroderma at the age of 14 which makes her susceptible to infections and getting sick. Scleroderma affects your entire body and she is in dire need of some help. She receives minimal income from her disability and is not able to afford hotel rooms. I've called every shelter in the area and all tell me they don't have a bed open. We are working on getting her social security card so she can apply for housing but until then, she needs somewhere to lay her head down and out of the heat. If anyone can provide known resources that are helping pay for individuals to stay at extended stay hotels or know of somewhere that this mom could go, you would be going as far as to saving her life. Thank you!

This family has 1 biological child, 3 adopted children, & 1 who is still in foster care. They are a medical & behavioral home so have kids with high needs. They are very committed to ensuring their children have the support they need to thrive, which means they spend hours on the road & at appts every week. Their largest need is respite & childcare on the occasional week night or weekend to allow for more 1:1 time with kids as well as time to complete projects around the house (& maybe a date?!). They have a couple of babysitters but only 1 that can manage all 5 at once & at $25/hr, so they only use her for emergencies. Gas cards are also incredibly helpful as their kids 5 are spread out at daycares/schools across the city & they have many medical appts each week. This family had previously taken in a mother & baby in 2020 when they moved to Missouri. They housed, provided transportation & got her on her feet! Two years later they got a call to pick up this little girl from the same mama & are providing a safe place until Mama can get the help she needs. They are a military family & fostering has always been near & dear to their heart. When given the opportunity to take her in as well as become licensed, they jumped at the opportunity & didn’t think twice! They have had sudden placement of a baby girl & financial help would be appreciated until licensing is complete! They would also love to get in contact with other mothers/families! This family is being licensed by Jackson County CD for an ICPC placement of their maternal nephew who is one year old. The family has gathered many of the necessary items for the child, although they still need a convertible car seat in preparation for his arrival.

Mom is a single mother who is raising her daughter while working fulltime. With her daughter and her cousins home for the summer from school all day and using the air conditioner more with the heat wave, the electricity bill is higher than normal. Mom has already paid the rest of the family bills for this month but does not have any extra money to pay this bill by the end of the month. Mom is asking for any help with the electricity bill.

Placement contacted KVC on a friend's phone because one of the two children (5F and 6F) in her care destroyed her phone after it was taken away from the child. Placement stated that the child stomped on the phone and it was completely destroyed by child. Placement requested help replacing the phone as it is crucial to facilitate services for the children.
A natural mother has worked really hard to find her own home in order for her family to reintegrate, and we needed to get creative to make the small, one bedroom home work for her, and her three children ages 11, 5, and 2. In order to do this, we need a set of bunk beds as well as a room divider so that the 11 year old can have a sense of privacy in their shared bedroom. (A twin bed has been obtained for the 11 year old to have her own sleeping space).

The current foster placement of the child is in need of the specific formula for the child, as it is difficult to get at this time and expensive. The child currently has food allergies as well as a g tube and requires a specific kind of formula. This formula is expensive and not covered by WIC. At this time the prescription is also requiring out of pocket expenses from the foster placement. This foster placement has been the primary care giver of the child since the child was born. This placement is needing the formula "Nestle HealthScience Hypoallergenic Alfamino infant Amino acidobased powder" which ranges from $40.00-$60.00 per canister. The placement is needing any sort of assistance which getting this formula in order to help provide for the child in the home, as they have paid out of pocket for this formula since the child was released from the hospital. The foster placement would benefit from multiple canisters of formula but any amount will be helpful.
A family that became homeless last year has re-unified this month. They have stable housing, and the mother just got hired at a fulltime job. Unfortunately their car broke down, so the mother has no transportation. If anyone has a vehicle to donate to this family of 6, it would help them stay re-unified. Thank you in advance to any donor(s) who can help!

A single mother with 4 school-age children and one toddler recently got into stable housing after being homeless. The family has a kitchen table, but no chairs. They have one couch, but no other furniture.
This family needs kitchen chairs so they can sit at their table to eat. They need a couch for their living room so they can all sit down at the same time. They have no electronics or TV except one phone. If anyone has electronic pads or a TV to donate, these children can really use them.
Thank you in advance to any donor(s) who can help this family!

A family in our Big Brothers Big Sisters program is in need of assistance. Mom is a mother of 4 and a survivor of DV. She has been able to get her family to safety but by doing so they are left with less money than before, making it hard for her to provide a few things her children had in the past.
The family needs furniture and they do not have the extra money to buy any from anywhere, including thrift stores. Mom would really appreciate help getting a window air conditioning unit, a sofa, and a coffee table.
If the family is able to obtain these items it would give them a space where they can relax together out of the heat and in the same room. They currently have no living room furniture and will sit on the floor. This is a loving family who enjoys each other and would love to be able to spend quality time together more comfortably.
