A youth and family that ZOE International has been working with since June 2023 successfully transitioned from foster care back to her family home. She is working to get her GED but does not have a laptop. She borrows her brother's or mom's. She is in need of a laptop as she is 17 and is wanting to get her GED as she also works toward getting a job. School and a job will help to keep her busy with positive activities and prevent her from reengaging in unsafe activities.

I am requesting services for a new foster placement. The teenage child is placed with his adult cousin. The cousin transports the child to his school or origin that is approximately 20 miles each way. We are looking for other sources of help but may not be available for several weeks. The adult cousin is on a limited income and that is why we are asking for financial assistance.

The birth mother is a young 18 year old who has qualified for extended foster care services up to the age of 21. She was removed from her birth mother as a minor and has been in foster care since 2019 when there were allegations of general neglect and mother was intoxicated in Los Angeles County. This young mother is now enrolled in American Career College to become a medical assistant, and is on leave for three months after giving birth to her first baby girl in September 2023. The mother will resume school in three months and has submitted the required documents for school to justify leave. This client is being submitted for services/support/referrals in meeting her dental needs as she did not get braces prior to the age of 18 years old. She is willing to use her existing foster care checks to make payments, therefore she is requesting assitance in locating community resources for reduced orthodontic care for foster youth. She is also a new mother and has requested a playmat for her young baby who will benefit from a stimulating mat. This young lady is trying her hardest to carve a better future for her child by attending school and trying to better her circumstances. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

This birth father has worked hard to reunify with his two very young children. He successfully completed all required case plan activities and is ready to be a single father. The court agreed with this and placed the children back into his care full time this week. The father's youngest child (boy) is 1 1/2 years old and is special needs, which requires multiple ongoing medical appointments and therapy. The father will need a car seat to assist with transportation to and from these appointments. Therefore an infant car seat is being requested on his behalf. The father is very grateful and has declined any other needs as he was able to get a car seat for his daughter (age 2 1/2) and a double stroller for them. He is very humble and knows he has to be there for his young children since they have been in foster care for over a year. He is dedicating his full attention to their needs and will be a stay at home father until they are school aged.
This request is for 19 year old foster youth who is in need of a longer bed due to his large stature. He is 6'3" tall and has outgrown his twin bed. He is a great youth who attends college, plays on the college football team, and works part time at the school helping disabled students. He is a resilient youth who was living a transient lifestyle with his mom and siblings due to his mother's unresolved history of substance abuse. He has little outside support but identifies his former foster parents and the social worker as lifelong connections and they are able to attend his football games and encourage him. He is now learning independent living skills and moved into a transitional housing program located in Los Angeles County.
Request: Extra long twin bed or Queen size bed and bedframe

This donation request is being made on behalf of a young mother of four who recently gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Mother is struggling with many obstacles this holiday season; managing her severe epilepsy, cooperating with The Department of Children and Family Services during her open case and experiencing homelessness. All while fighting to avoid post-partum depression. Clothes in a size 3X and size 6 shoes would help this mother tremendously and, thus, keep her warm this holiday season. Anything would be greatly appreciated

My client who is a young mother of two, is requesting help with getting a Christmas tree for her home. After a long year, this young mother has reunified with her children and has them both in her care just in time for the holidays. We are asking for help to make this holiday special by helping her get a Christmas tree for her home to really bring out the holiday spirit. We have referred to her and her children to our gift program so her children can receive gifts this Christmas and all she needs is a Christmas tree to be able to put those gifts under.

Caregiver/NMD needs a refrigerator. Caregiver has been trying to save up for one but has not been successful. Although, caregiver is having that challenge, caregiver is trying to her hardest to provide for her children. Furthermore, caregiver is committed to maintaining the family together. During my work with caregiver I have identified the following strengths: mother works, is knowledgeable of child’s needs and is present.. Caregivers goals are to be able to live on her own. For these reasons, I am advocating for caregiver to have the need identified met. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is because mother is having a hard time to work and then stop by the market and cook fresh everyday for the 3 children and herself everyday. Mother and children were kicked out of her old apartment and was not allowed to remove anything from the location. Mother lost all her appliances and everything for her kitchen. Mother stated losing everything was hard but the worse thing is not having a fridge to save food. Food has been spoiling if they don’t eat it right away. Mother does not get CAlfresh and is buying her food by her hardworking money. This need is critical to ensuring that family can stay fed and save money. DCFS has assisted the family by providing a referral for kitchen items to Jamesstore. DCFS will continue to link the family to community services such as food banks, counseling, etc. in order to ensure the family continues in maintenance.

Good Morning, I am the Case Manager for a high school student that is in current need of a new bed. The mother is requesting $300 to help purchase the students bed. The mother was offered a great opportunity from a closing furniture store to purchase a bed, frame, and mattress (suitable for clients need) at only $300. Otherwise, the mother will need to spend more money to buy a queen sized mattress and bed for the student. The student is heavier set and requires a bigger bed. The mother is not working full-time and therefore cannot afford purchasing a bed on her own. The income that comes in from her job only covers the basic household needs. I have assessed the situations and can confirm the client is sleeping on a broken bed. Without our support the clients mental and physical health is at risk due to the interruptions in her sleep. Thank you in advance!

Young mother and her two children are in need of furnishings to accommodate the growing needs of the family and unable to afford it due to the family receiving limited funds. The mother is currently focused on starting a nursing program and at this time is unable to work to afford this large expense.
The family is in need of a queen size bed frame, box spring & mattress (their current bed is very old and too large for their space-it was handed down to them and is showing some wear and uncomfortable to sleep in), and a tall drawer dresser (they are currently renting a room and need storage for the children's belongings).
By fulfilling this request you will help the family have an organized space, and get good rest so they can be comfortable and well rested.

My caregiver is currently caring for her two nieces who are 12 years old and 7 years old that were placed in her care June of last year. They are in urgent need of financial assistance as the caregiver has been unable to catch up with her past due rent since losing her job this summer. My caregiver has since been hired at a new job that is beginning in December. She has shown resilience and commitment to maintaining her nieces in her care by actively looking for work and resources to help her save money on her expenses. Assisting my caregiver with her past due rent will help not only maintain this family’s current living situation, but also prevent them from eviction and possibly losing their section 8 voucher. My caregiver is determined to get back on her feet and stay on top of her finances for her nieces placed in her care and her own two children.

The client is a single mother with one baby girl, age two weeks old. The client has had difficulties affording a dresser for the baby due to recently losing her job before delivering the baby. The client has been participating in our services since June 2023 and is still active. The client's only source of income is from the Department of Social Services, and it is used to pay bills and rent with no extra money to buy a needed dresser for herself and her baby’s clothing. The client plans to bond with the baby and, in the near future, seek employment when she completes her Parenting classes. Thank you for assisting a family in need.
