Clay County Children's Division frequently works with families who do not have transportation, but they need to get their children to the hospital, to forensic interviews, or to other vital appointments. These appointments are often unplanned and urgent. We are requesting 5 $50 Uber cards to have available when these unexpected needs arise.

There’s single mother with a 16 your old son in jeopardy of being evicted. She is recently divorced and has had to file for bankruptcy. Over the past few months maintaining the household had become more difficult. She received an eviction notice and is facing that notice being enforced next week, if she cannot pay $2257.

A young mother has escaped a domestic violence situation with the father of her baby, the baby has recently come into care. The baby is placed with a kinship provider; the mother is working two jobs and providing for her baby, although the baby is not in her home currently. Please consider donating an Uber gift card to assist this mother with visiting her daughter.

Family is new to the KC area and speaks Hatian Creole. Family speaks limited English and has a limited support system. They have a disconnect notice for their electricity. I have called several agencies about getting assistance and cannot find one that has funds available until next month but I didn't want their electricity to get shut off in the mean time.

We have a 20-year-old who is aging out of care in a month. She is moving into her apartment with her 1-year-old daughter. She is working and has been trying to save money. She is utilizing a housing voucher to ensure she will be able to pay her rent; her voucher does not pay for any part of the deposit. Their 21 year-old son was recently killed in an accident and their 19-year-old daughter who is pregnant is being induced due to the stress of losing her brother. Her younger son is currently permanently disabled. Mother has been unable to work as she has been making arrangements for her son's burial and her the birth of her daughter's child. Mother was unable to cover the entire month's rent because she paid for the burial of her son. There are three other younger children in the home. One of the children in the home has a high level of medical needs with some medical equipment that requires electricity to function (suctioning and feeding pump). Bio mom of three precious children has been reunified with her children after being adopted by another family. The adoption didn't work out and the children have now been placed back with mom. Mom is doing everything she needs to do and is going through the adoption process. Mom has had some financial struggles after her car broke down. She was forced to finance another car and does not have the money to pay the property tax to get tags for the car. Mom unexpectedly lost her job after her son became ill because she had to stay home with him and missed too many days from work. The youngest child just had surgery and was hospitalized for 7 days. Mom has a lot of medical appointment for him. Mom has started door dashing part time to earn money. Mom has gotten several tickets because her temporary tags have now expired. Mom is looking for assistance with getting tags for her car so she can drive her children to appointments and to get to work. A child has had lice for about two months now. She has missed 12 days of school and is now missing end of year testing. Her guardian has not been able to contain the lice with over-the-counter products, and she is in need of professional treatment. I have located a salon in the area that is able to provide services at a discounted rate so that she does not miss any more school. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
