A single mother of 2 children is working on escaping a domestic violence marriage and is in need of transportation assistance so she is able to go file for an ex-parte protection order. She is in need of an uber/lyft gift card.

This teen is African American and needs her hair to be braided at a salon. She is wearing a bonnet because she needs her hair done which is a vital part of her heritage and cultural expression. This teen's family is from Liberia and her aunt works at a salon and can do her hair tomorrow but it will cost $150. The foster home and bio mom need assistance in paying for her hair to be braided.

There is a family in which an 8 year old is admitted to the hospital's cardiac intensive care unit. He was born with a genetic disorder that has a higher chance of attacking the child's heart if and when the child gets a virus. Last week the child was fighting off a virus which did target his heart and the family was told he had hours left to live. Through prayers and resilience the boy remains admitted and his heart function is approving. The family continues to pray and support him as he gains strength with the goal of getting their son back home. The Dad in the family has used all of his PTO to be at his son's bedside. He is now back at work as he cannot risk losing his job however he had to take unpaid time off when he was here at the hospital! The family is struggling to pay rent (and any money towards rent would be beneficial). The family is also struggling paying for gas for his vehicle as Dad is driving to work, home and to the hospital every day. If a church is able to assist with any portion of rent or any gas assistance, it would go a LONG way for this family!

A single mother lost hours at her job which has forced her to begin looking for a new job. This resulted in her not having enough money for her rent. She is facing eviction if she cannot come up with the $500 needed for the rest of her rent this month. She has tried several community agencies on her own with no luck in getting help for her rent.

A relative foster parent's recently lost her employment unexpectedly. She reports that they were able to pay all their utilities but only a portion of their rent. She has been calling other potential resources for assistance but they are unable to receive assistance due to not having an eviction notice. Foster parent reports that if the full rent is not paid by the 15th their landlord will file for eviction. She is actively looking for employment and has had a few interviews already and is working on getting more. She is also continuing to look for other resources that could offer assistance.

Any amount of help would be greatly appreciated.

15- & 11-year-old boys had to change foster care homes recently. The boys are really missing their bicycles, and the prior home has not cooperated to give them their bikes. The boys would really like to get out and enjoy the nice weather and get some exercise. They are really hoping for someone to help and provide a bike. For the riding that they do, they need a 24-inch and a 28-inch mountain bike. The bikes do not need to be new; they would be thankful for used ones. The boys are in Kansas City, KS. The Aunt that they are now staying with and the boys would be so very appreciative. Thank you so much for considering helping these boys enjoy their summer.

This request is for rent assistance for a family of six currently living in an extended stay hotel. The mother is on short-term disability following a workplace injury and is doing her best to support the family through Uber and Instacart when her condition allows. The father is actively seeking employment but has not yet secured a position. With four young children- ages 6, 8, 3, and 2—the family is struggling to meet basic living expenses during this difficult time. Any support to help them maintain stable housing while the mother recovers would be deeply appreciated.

Mother to 4 children unexpectedly lost her job the last week of May and is unable to pay her rent this month. She is an army veteran who proudly served her country for many years, while she obtained her education to become a nurse. She was employed with KU med as a nurse until she lost her job which has left her short of funds for her rental payment for the month. She is actively looking for new employment and has been agreeable to several different DCF services and recommendations to assist her family in this stressful time. She is a full time caregiver to 14 and 16 year old children. She splits custody with her ex husband for her younger two children. She has been extremely cooperative with DCF and is hopeful the DCF case can be a starting point for a new life for her and her children. She is able to pay 700 dollars of her rent this month, however she will still owe 1100 dollars. Her rent is typically paid via venmo, but under the current circumstances her leasing company is willing to accept a check. She is grateful for any assistance offered to her in this stressful time.
