This is a single mother of two, one 8-year-old and one baby. She is currently living in a situation of domestic violence and trying to get a place of her own. They live in an apartment now. Two weeks ago, police were called to their apartment. She has located a house in Raytown, and she can pay the deposit of $1250 but needs some extra help with the first month's rent which is $1400. Her parents will help her out until she can get on her feet. She currently lives on disability and child support, but being free of this person, she feels like she can get a job to support herself and the children.

Hello Care Portal. Our team is currently working with a family of four who have until May 31st to address their hoarding situation. There are two children in the home, and at this time, the house is not a safe environment for them. We are requesting support with a dumpster rental to safely dispose all unwanted items. Other necessary items include trash bags, six boxes, gloves, six large totes, mouse traps, and cleaning supplies. The mother in this family is struggling with severe depression, while the father is trying to keep up with expenses. DCCCA is working diligently to support the family's mental health and the children's mental and social needs. We truly need your support and would be honored to collaborate with multiple agencies, churches, and businesses to help this family stay together and improve their situation. I am reaching out with a special request for a special young boy in our community. He’s 12 years old, full of curiosity and hope, and he’s eager to learn Spanish — not just as a language, but as a lifeline to his identity and his family.

This child is Latino, and his older brothers speak fluent Spanish. Sadly, due to being removed from his family’s home at a young age, he never had the chance to learn the language they share. He's now in foster care, navigating a world of change and uncertainty. But despite all he's been through, he wants to learn — not just for himself, but so he can truly connect with his siblings and his heritage.

We’re looking for a Spanish-speaking volunteer from the community who could meet with him once a week — either in his placement home or in a local public space — to help him begin learning conversational Spanish. No teaching degree or formal experience needed — just patience, kindness, and a willingness to show up.

You would be making a powerful impact. For this child, Spanish isn’t just a language — it’s a bridge home. A way to feel less alone. A way to remember that he belongs.

Mom and children are escaping domestic violence. The youngest child is immunocompromised and requires continuous medical care. Mom has never been allowed to participate in the family's finances, after leaving she has found that her car insurance is past due. She needs to be able to take her child to his medical appointments. She is also in need of diapers (size 3). She is working with a DV shelter and the Jackson County Prevention Team. Thank you for your help!

Older youth has just moved into his own apartment and will age out of care next month. He has most of his needs met, but is still short just a couple items. He is in need of a vacuum cleaner, as his apartment is mostly carpeted. He also needs a replacement glass plate for his microwave as his was broken in the move.

For the past two years, this foster home has been a safe, nurturing environment for young children in need. In October 2024, they welcomed a three-year-old boy into their care. While he is a joyful and curious child, his caregivers have noticed that he often loses his balance and seems clumsy for his age. Although some clumsiness is typical for toddlers, they believe he would greatly benefit from a toddler tumbling class to help build coordination, confidence, and strength. The cost of the class is currently out of reach for the family, but your donation could help make this opportunity possible. Enrollment closes on June 6, 2025. We are hoping to secure support before then to ensure he doesn’t miss out. Kinship placement just moved and need 2 twin beds with mattress if possible

The affected family is a five-member family that shares ICWA tribes and includes three young children, a mother, and a father. They were placed in foster care because of the condition of the house, which included new flooring due to pipe issues being clogged up and damaging the floors.. Any aid from people, organizations, or churches in offering free flooring services or helping to cover the cost would be greatly appreciated, as parents are unable to pay for the estimate quotes.

Greetings, I am reaching out on behalf of one of my wonderful foster children. I humbly request your support in assisting a full-size bed, mattress and bedding for a child in our community who is in need of an upgraded bed now that she is getting bigger and is growing out of her current space. 6 year old girl in need of items for an upcoming trip to Texas for her brother's surgery. Her brother has a genetic medical condition and is going to have surgery in Austin, TX in June on his jaw/face for reconstruction and possible tracheotomy removal. The family will be driving to Austin and renting a place to stay for several weeks. The family is hoping to gather items to help their child manage the long drive as well as the many hours she will spend at the hospital with her brother. Items that might be helpful would be coloring books, drawing supplies, crayons, markers, colored pencils, small lego sets, medical play kit (she wants to be a doctor) and she loves mermaids and unicorns. This family would be very appreciative of any help that could be provided.

The student's last day of school is tomorrow, Wednesday May 21st. They are leaving for Tx. I am hoping to get an update on the status of the request today so I can coordinate with the family.

Single mother of 2 is working very hard to find stable housing and work while also uninsured. One of the two children has been bullied at school for the clothes that she wears. The bullying has been relentless, to the point of daughter wanting to self-harm. The daughter is in safe hands. Clothes for the daughter are hard to find, as in age appropriate and in her style in sizes 2X. A gift card to any clothing places that has her size would help take a burden off of mom's shoulder and empower her daughter to feel more confident in choosing her clothes.
