KVC Kinship is working with a relative placement family that has expressed a need for assistance with covering the expense for a 12 year old male child to participate in a martial arts class as an outlet for this child. This family has expressed a financial need for assistance and would greatly appreciate any help with this expense.
Teen (17F) was recently placed with a relative and the family is in the process of moving to a new home due to issues with their old apartment. This has caused the teen to need a new bed as the apartment they are moving to will allow the teen to have their own space. The teen does require a full bed due to their height.
Client and her husband arrived in the U.S. in February of this year from Mexico. They are 24 weeks pregnant with their first child. They came on a work visa that is supposedly valid until 3/23/23, but FOB is no longer working for the company he came to work for. Client needs to meet with lawyer ASAP to figure out what she needs to do before the work visa expires. Initial lawyer fee is $150.

The Jackson County Children's Division is needing a twin bed and a platform bedframe for a child in our care. This child is five-years-old and he is currently living with his aunt, two cousins, and sister. They just moved into a larger home for all five of them to have room to grow and thrive. Four beds are a lot to purchase all at once so we are asking for community help for the children that are in our care. This is an urgent need as the children are currently and will continue to sleep on air mattresses in the meantime. Any help with fulfilling this request would be very appreciated.
We are asking for help with a twin size mattress and twin size platform bedframe.

Young mother with a newborn needs immediate rental assistance. Mother was unable to work during her pregnancy and father was shot and killed, so she lost any other financial assistance. Mother is getting her taxes and can pay most of the difference and has a job she will be starting but her landlord has already filed eviction paperwork. The amount requested, combined with what she can pay should cover her and allow her to continue staying at her apartment.
This youth has a hold at K-state that needs to be paid in order for the youth to get their transcripts. They need the transcript to apply to the University of Kansas.
I have a family of 8 in need of an 8 passenger van. hey are willing to pay $5000 for a vehicle but that is all they can afford at this point. They have one vehicle but they currently owe more on the vehicle than it is worth and are unable to trade it in for a larger vehicle. They would like to be able to attend school, church and other events together and having a larger vehicle would allow them to do so. If you have or know of anyone willing to sell or provide this family a reliable vehicle, it would be appreciated.

Looking for a private landlord that is willing to take a chance on a mother of 4 that has no rental or credit history. This mother has overcome addiction and hardship to be able to reunite with her children. She is currently working three jobs in order to be able to provide a stable house for her children. The children are ready to be back in the house with their mother. The last step in being able to reunite this family is finding a permanent and stable living situation for them. The children are all over the age of 10 and would prefer to stay in the KC metro area in order to stay in their current schools. Mother would prefer to stay around Edwardsville, Bonner Springs/western Shawnee.
Two children in Missouri's care are in need of two twin beds with frames. Their placement is moving and the beds that they currently have will not be suitable for the new house. Receiving these beds will allow for the children to stay with their current place as the move occurs. Updated on March 13, 2023 by an Agency Worker Please update prices for bed frames to $93 each and the mattresses for $150 each. I have the links for both through Amazon. The grand total is $480.23. Thank you!

There are currently three children in care ages 4, 7 & 9. The mother and father are working very hard to get their home cleaned up. The worker has been out and they have done a good job at doing this. The home still has an odor that is believed to be coming from the furniture in the home given it's age and the belief it is soiled. We are seeking help with getting new living room furniture and a new dining room table for the family. We believe these gently used items will help reduce the smell and help us be able to reunify the children soon.
A family of 4 with a recently single mother is in dire need of help with rent and utilities to avoid being evicted. The family has faced abuse in the home and many traumas. Family has the resources to get help with their electric bill and $1000 for rent, though they are still in need of $600 for the rest of rent, $800 for water, and $600 gas. Once the family has these resources they can begin to heal and get their affairs in order for their fresh start. Anything and everything helps. Thank you!

We are working with a family that is in need of assistance with their rent. Mom and Dad have recently started new jobs and are unsure if they will receive paychecks in time for March rent. They are also behind on other bills and feeling overwhelmed. We are asking for help in paying this family's rent which will put them a great start in getting back on track now that they will both have incomes. The family has stated that they are grateful for any amount contributed towards this need. Thank you for considering this request and for your help in keeping families together!
Hello! I have a young mother who is working reintegration with her 2 year old son. This mother was dealt such an awful hand at life-- she has dealt with chronic homelessness since age 16, began abusing drugs following her father's death, was in an extremely abusive relationship that led to the birth of her son, and had severe postpartum depression which led her to sign over a guardianship for her son. She has since started working reintegration to be reunited with her son and has made immense progress in just a few months; she was recently promoted to manager at her job, bought a car for herself, is engaging in therapy and substance use services, and recently was accepted into a 2bed/1bath apartment to accommodate herself and her son. She has done so much in just a short span of time which shows how committed she is to being a good mother to her son, and we would appreciate any assistance in helping her pay for her apartment deposit/help with her first month's rent. Any help is so appreciated!
Rachel:
I’d love to offer $100 to help this mom out with rent assistance. May God continue to bless her efforts in turning her life around and give her strength to continue down that path!
Hello! I have a teenager who is up next on the "Smiles Change Lives" waitlist, and will be getting braces soon. We are hoping to obtain assistance in paying for the deposit for this as she lives with a single foster mom/adoptive resource. This child's story is so heart wrenching-- she was forced to immigrate with her father from Guatemala, who eventually was arrested for physically abusing her to the point of her needing to be hospitalized. The father has since been deported, and my teen will be staying here in the US. She was such a scared and timid child who was really self-conscious about her appearance-- specifically her smile. She is SO excited for these braces, any help in paying for the deposit will be so appreciated!
Over the past several years we have watched a young aunt, step up to raise not just one additional child, but her five nieces and nephews. She was already a young single mother of two small babies of her own, but when KVC asked if she would foster her oldest niece and nephew, she immediately said yes. Within 9 months, this aunt was raising 7 children under the age of 8 years old. With the help of paternal aunts and grandma, she has been able to make every doctor appointment and more with her big crew. When the time came, parents were unable to make the changes needed for the best interest of the children. Without question, this young aunt was ready to give the children their forever home.
As we move towards finalizing adoption for this large family, we would like to ask some help from others to help this loving mother have a van or large vehicle to use day to day.
This request is to help cover for half of an airline ticket for a child to spend spring break with his father. Dad has already bought the ticket but we are hoping to reimburse him for half the cost. Dad has not been able to see his son for 2.5 years due to a sticky separation with his son's mother. Dad is making the time to come to Kansas from Colorado at least once a month to see his son and this is a great opportunity for them to spend more time together. The child is super excited to spend this time with his dad. I know dad would be greatly appreciative with any help that could be given!
