I have a high school student who is in need of a graphing calculator. The family can not afford to purchase one and we have looked at several pawn Shops and other platforms to find one for the child. This would help the child with her math and homework which in turn gets her better grades and hope for a college scholarship. It does not have to be new if someone had a used one that works, that would be great.
I am currently working with a single mother and her one month old baby. The mother has no work and currently is in critical need for formula for her baby girl. Baby will be needing formula for the next couple of days till she is able to have her wic appointment on Tuesday of next week. Please, please, help me, to help this mother who is in critical need. The formula she is currently using is Gentle infant-formula, purple label. we are requesting two or three cans if possible. Thank you for your constant help with supporting our families and case workers. God bless you!!!!!
I have a family who is moving into a residence after having not been able to live together for the last 4 months. The mother is able to provide a home for her children. DCCCA is asking for pillows for this family as they do not have any. In providing this need, you will be helping the mother not spend extra money so she can apply the money to her deposit and first month's rent.
Thank you in advance for helping this family and this mother provide for her children.
Being a single mom in recovery is hard yet being a single mom with lupus and other medical conditions can be even harder. I am working with a single mom of a four-year-old daughter and a teenage daughter who recently came back home to live with her after living with her grandmother for the majority of her life. It hasn't been an easy road for this mom of three. She has dealt with pain most of her life and has been fighting for disability which continues to get denied yet through her sobriety and with God she is trying to show her children a better life through her pain. Many days she dreads getting out of bed and it is hard for her to get things out of the fridge yet she tries to be the best mom she can be. Life would be a little easier on her body if she had a bottom freezer refrigerator. $899.00

I have a houseless family in need of financial assistance for maintenance on their car. One parent is working full time and relies on this vehicle to get to and from work, the store, and kids appointments. Since the family is houseless, they are paying an outstanding amount each month to afford their hotel. They do not have any extra funds to take care of their car repairs. The family needs an oil change and brakes for their car.
We have a 17 year old female who entered care this year. Currently, she has overcome certain obstacles and is residing in a transitional living house in Missouri. This youth has completed her Missouri Options Exam with flying colors. This youth has had issues attending and participating in school prior to coming into care. While in care, she has been completing individual therapy once a week and participating in visitation with her parents. She is asking for her graduation cap, gown, tassel and senior hoodie and sweatpants. These items are important to the youth as she did successfully complete her high school education and is now working towards her ACT testing. The package for the cap, gown, tassel, sweatpants, and hoodie is about 121.35 with a handling fee of 9.95. Any help that can be provided is appreciated.

DCCCA is working with a homeless family who have been living in a hotel. The mother has recently started working, DCCCA has helped the family obtain childcare, transportation for school, and is working to help with housing. The mom's mother's health is declining and is not expected to live much long so the mom has not been able to work this week or last between the holiday and being with her mother. Because of this the family is $350 short to pay the December hotel rent on Saturday (12/3). If you can help cover all or a portion of this need for the family it will allow them to continue to have a stable place to live while DCCCA continues to work with the family to secure more permanent housing and allow the mom to spend this week with her mother and not worry about working or losing their place to stay.
A single mother taking care of her two older sons is in need of transportation help. This mothers only vehicle to get to work and the children to school has broken down needing a couple of repairs. This would help the young mother as she is needing to get back and forth to work, and take her children to school.
The young brother of a 13yr old had to take his sister into his home there was no other option at this time. The brother very young himself gave his sister his bed , the young man has so little and works hard every day and he stepped up to help his sister when she needed him. Please assist with getting the 13yr old a bed. This would help the transition so much if both could have a bed to sleep on.
We are requesting an Uber gift card to help mom with transportation to the hospital to visit her baby in the NICU. The baby was born early and admitted in the NICU for over a month. Mom's car broke down and the costs are not affordable for the family to fix. The roundtrip cost for mom to get to and from the hospital is $22/ day. The team has looked into the bus route and determined it is not a feasible option. The team is working with the hospital social worker for transportation options in the future.
The amount requested ($88) will assist mom with transportation for 4 days this week to get to the hospital to visit with her baby. We do ask if the donor can donate an uber gift card in the amount of $88 since mom doesnt have transportation to get to the bank for other payment methods.
This 14 year old boy has been in care for over two years. He moved bounced around a little, before finding stable placement with his siblings in March of 2021. He has an 8th grade field trip to Washinton, DC coming up in April (with payment due in December). This youth is a great kid. Once he got into a stable and loving home, and was able to find the right dosage of medication, he has thrived. He does well in school, loves playing sports, and he has a very humble and kind personality. He would really like to go on this trip, and his foster family would really like for him to be able to join his classmates. They need some help to make this happen. The cost of the trip is $1,609, and that is a lot for the family to take on, especially since they have five other children in the home.
A caregiver needs help keeping her phone line turned on to remain in touch with her children while at work. Recently, one of her children has been struggling with some behaviors that require extra supervision. She had to call off work several times to remain with her child and has fallen behind on bills. Now she is able to return to work, but she needs to prioritize her phone so her child or the adult who is supervising can always reach her. Helping meet this request will help a caregiver be able to support her child and keep the family safe.
This 17 year old had an emergency move from a relatives home to the grandmother of her newborn son. While the baby has a crib, his mother is currently sleeping on a couch and is in need of a bed of her own. She is looking for a full sized bed to accommodate her and the baby so that when he needs to eat, nap, or snuggle she has him close at hand.

Two children are being reunified with their father after he was released from a stretch in prison. The children are very excited to be with him again and he is working on making their house a home. They are in need of two twin sized bed frames and mattresses for the kids. Any help is greatly appreciated!
We have an Uncle that took in his niece and nephew to prevent the children going into foster care. He has had the children for a few weeks and we determined this may be a long term situation (over 6 months). The children need bed frames and mattresses. The two year old girl is sleeping in a pack and play. The seven year old boy is sleeping on a cot. If anyone can donate a toddler bed frame, a twin/ full size bed for the 7 year old, and mattresses, the relative would really appreciate the assistance. The family is also open to bunk beds if that is available. Please reach out if you can assist with used beds or new beds. Thank you!
A grandmother is placement for her infant granddaughter who is starting to crawl. The grandmother is in need of a baby gate for the top of her stairs to ensure the baby's safety and to maintain placement. A gate that attaches to the wall is preferred so that her 2-year-old brother is unable to push through the gate. Please see link for example of need. Thank you!
A single mom of 6 has stopped receiving child support payments as the father of the children has lost his job. She has been unable to make her car payments and only has $1500 left on the loan. She has been working so hard to provide for her children, but has started struggling with the loss of child support. The payments will help to sercure her vehicle for her and prevent her from losing her only vehicle.

DCCCA Family Preservation is hosting our 3rd Annual Christmas Party for the at-risk families we serve. This event gives families the opportunity to step away from their stressful life events, even for just a short while, to have a joyful evening full of fun, food, and festivities. This event can help form positive core memories for vulnerable children -- many who experience extreme poverty and would love nothing more than some bonding time with their parents to play games, have a nice meal, sing and even laugh together. DCCCA is a nonprofit organization; therefore, we rely on the generosity of the community to help fund our events. Donated funds will help us purchase the food, paper goods, and other essential items. If you are able, please consider helping us bring smiles and laughter to the faces of many children as we share with them the magic and joy of Christmas. Thank you for all you do for the community! Updated on November 28, 2022 by an Agency Worker We could still use the help to fund the Christmas party for the families we serve. Thank you for your consideration.
