The maternal grandmother recently moved into a larger home to ensure that all of her grandchildren (six children-ages 7 months to 15 years old) could be placed together in the same home. The grandmother is retired and on a fixed income. The family needs furnishings for the living room. The children currently must sit at the small dining room table or on their twin-size beds as there is no other furniture for them to spend time together as a family.

A baby boy is in a need of a crib and mattress and bedding in his placement. Having these items will allow this baby to sleep comfortably in his on sleeping arrangement.

Mother is in need of a Armoire dresser and Queen mattress and box spring for her son as she is planning on transition from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom so that her son can have a proper night's rest and avoid possible future complications from poor sleeping habits. This will also help alleviate some of the mother's stress in obtaining the following items: armoire dresser $197.99, 12 inch queen mattress $169.99, and queen box spring with fabric cover $88.98= $456.96

Mom resides in a home with her one child. During the separation from her husband, he took some of the essential items which included the bed. She currently sleeps on a mattress that is filthy that needs to be replaced, as it is no longer suitable for her and her child to sleep on. The child will also need his own bed as well. Mom is a victim of DV and we would like to assist her with this as she and her child should be able to sleep comfortably.

The family is in need of help. Their home is overrun with roaches, making it an unsafe environment for their two young children—both under the age of 3. The situation is even more heartbreaking as the mother is expecting another child, carrying new life into a home that is barely livable. They are desperate for assistance to afford pest control services, a necessary step toward creating a safe, healthy space for their growing family. Without support, the children and unborn baby remain vulnerable to the dangers of the infestation.

Single father of two girls seeking a crib for his youngest child post breakup with their mother who kept their items at her residence so that he can practice safe sleep for her. He is currently residing with family to help get back stabilized financially.

Laptop Needed

I have a youth that is set to age of out the system and is interested in continuing in care through the extended foster care program (EFC). We have located the youth a placement for them when they turn 18, the issue is that this placement does not have any computers or laptops for the youth to continue to work on obtaining her diploma. In order for her to be eligible to be in EFC she needs to be in school or with employment, if this youth is able to receive a laptop so that she can continue her schooling this will secure her an opportunity to remain in care and have a successful launch into adulthood.

The family is in need of a full-size bed for one of the children living in the home. The mother works from home and is single mom of 3 kids.

The mother of three is in need of a twin size bed for one of her daughters that are currently sharing a room and a bed. The mother works part time but could benefit from additional support to care for her family.

I have a mother who had 4 children removed from her care a year ago. She has since given birth to twins (a boy and a girl). She has met all of the conditions of return and is in need of beds in order for the children to be reunified. She has maintained a job for the last year but is short of money to buy the beds.

CCKids has an emergency pantry for diapers, shoes and other items that case managers and safety managers need immediately when working with families entering the dependency system. Since the launch of the Early Services Engagement Program, which helps keeps kids out of foster care, we have experienced a marked increase in requests for safety items like bed/door alarms, baby gates, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

Alarms are a critical resource as they help ensure the safety of children prone to running away or children who are sexually reactive due to childhood trauma. The alarms will alert the children's caregivers when and if they get out of bed in the middle of the night, helping to ensure the safety of those children as well as any other children in the home.

Baby gates are another often requested resource as they are often required in safety management plans that - if followed - allow a family to remain together under supervision.

Finally, carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors are common needs that come up when conducting home studies to determine if a home is safe enough to place or retain a child, therefore impacting placement decisions.

Maintaining these often-requested resources in our pantry will reduce the number of individual requests to the CarePortal, freeing the program's network of churches up to focus on more unique, family-specific needs.
