Help Strengthen a Bio Family

High Urgency Request
A family who Clay County Children's Division is helping is in need of a Spire payment to be met. Family has been dealing with job issues and being cut hours and lay offs. They have been unable to make their Spire bill- they have attempted to make half payments so they could get their hot water turned back on and they have been declined. They have to make all $545 to be able to get their hot water turned back on. Being able to turn the hot water on again will help the family in many ways. Children and family are having to brush teeth with very cold water, showering with very cold water, etc.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement

Normal Request
Kinship placement, Grandpa & Great Aunt are caring for 2 young children in their family. The home has cockroaches and desperately needs to be treated. The family is strapped for money and is unable to pay for the treatment. The family has gotten a quote from a pest control company for an initial treatment that would cost $350. They would need to follow up with additional treatments but any help to get them started would be appreciated. This would greatly improve the quality of living for the entire family but especially the children ages 18 months and 5 years old. Please consider helping this family. Thank you.

Two single moms, each with 2 children, are in need of extra support. Although they are both employed, they struggle financially to make ends meet. They are in need of basic furniture items for their home, including a couch, a kitchen table with 6 chairs, a vacuum cleaner, and clothing storage items. A plastic dresser or storage cart for each child would be ideal. The children include a girl (age 10) and three boys (ages, 7, 4, & 4). Thank you for any help you may be able to provide. Having a table and chairs in time for Thanksgiving would be a blessing.

We are specifically looking for a pair of tennis shoes for a girl, pre-school aged, size 10.5. She does not have a pair of shoes that are appropriate for school. We would love to have a few spare pairs of tennis shoes for other pre-school aged children, as school appropriate shoes are always needed at our Early Childhood Center/ Head Start. Besides the specific girls 10.5, any gender and pre-k sizes from 9-13 would be helpful. Thank you!

We are desperately asking for donations and/or someone that can provide hair care services to one of our children currently in need. Over the last few months this youth has been through a lot and is now stable enough to work on her own health and wellbeing. This youth's natural hair is currently severely damaged and we have received a quote from a local salon for $900 to fix the damage and redo her sisterlocks.

Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care

This is a two parent family who has struggled for years trying to meet adequate housing requirements. They have a lot of needs, but if we could get help with a few specific things, it will prevent further required action from Children's Division. The floors of the home are plywood. They are in the need of Kilz to use on the floors and some walls. The family has tried to rid the home of roaches on their own with no success. An exterminator may be too expensive, but we're looking for an extermination of roaches if possible. Updated on November 16, 2023 by an Agency Worker

I am working with a local family that is in need of assistance with a vehicle repair. Their primary vehicle had the air compressor go out in their car; which affects the cabin air intake, and power steering so it is not able to be driven. They requested a quote for the repair, and it will cost about $2,000. The family is aware that this is an expensive repair and is asking for any kind of assistance to cover part of the bill or help with performing the repair. The family has a child that is in need of medical care and reliable transportation is very important for this family!
