These kinship caregivers are caring for a 8 year old boy in their home. Their son also lives in the home. They were taking turns sleeping on the couch and bed, but were recently able to find another bed for the child. They need assistance finding a new or gently used dresser. It would help this family out greatly.

Single Mom with 2 children needs help moving. We sent request a couple weeks ago and received a response from another Church in the area. They want to help but are unable to provide full assistance and are requesting to possibly tag-team with another community to help family move to the new residence. Client needs assistance with bigger items that she can't carry on her own from her old residence to her new one. Client needs assistance this weekend with the move. If help can't be provided, possibly funding for movers would be very helpful. Assistance with this request would help client not lose her personal items for herself and her family that she wouldn't be able to move out of her old residence.

This family is currently in between health insurances and does not start on the new insurance until June due to the mother starting a new job and the daughter needs her medication but they are unable to afford the cost for out-of-pocket pay. The child needs to be seen by her primary care doctor to get the prescription renewed and then she has two medications to get filled.

A family has been living in a hotel for the last (almost) two months after being kicked out of their previous home. They had to leave most of their belongings behind. The family has been in search of somewhere to live for many weeks now, but recently got into a new apartment. The family is two boys (ages 5 and 7) and a girl (age 8). Caregivers are mom and her boyfriend who have full custody of the children.
They are in need of some furniture for the home. Most specifically beds for the kids and themselves. They are hoping for a bunkbed for the boys to share and a twin bed for the girl. The kids will all be sharing a bedroom, so they'll need to conserve space. Mom and boyfriend have a mattress that is old and dirty, they are hoping to get a new bed themselves if possible. They have also requested a kitchen table and a couch if possible. If provided a table, they will need five chairs to go with it.
The family has been dealing with a lot of challenges for the past three months. The kids all have significant needs, which has required parents to take more time working with the school and providers to assure their needs are met. Mom has a job and boyfriend is currently on leave after an injury. Having assistance with new furniture to get settled into their new home would take a tremendous burden off of them and help them to feel more stabilized after being displaced for the last two months.

Foster parents are in need of support for a recommended literacy program through Away with Words for a child in their home. They were able to secure funding for the child to complete the full evaluation and the specialist said it is a good thing we are looking at this now rather than when he is older. She said we are fortunate he is in a school that uses the literacy program his school is using that goes by the science and she said most do not. So that is good to hear. Once evaluated, she thinks he will need 3 sessions 30 minutes each for the summer and then less after summer since he will be back in school. It would be $96 a week for summer roughly 9 weeks. Do not have an official start/end date yet so the amount could vary.

Child does not have many toys that she can access. Provider made suggestions for the request for these purposes:
"These books have vibrant colors and strong visual support. The text is repetitive and predictable for (child). There are sliding doors throughout the book, which will keep (child) engaged and she make predictions about what comes next. Colors can be targeted as well as body parts. Rhyming can also be targeted as well."
"The lift and flap books and the wooden latch puzzles are sturdy, interactive and engaging for (child). The colorful pictures provide great visual support to boost receptive and expressive language. Action words, nouns, concepts (locative, sequential), etc can be targeted when playing with these. (child) can follow directions (open the....close the....find the....point to....) and take turns with a relative who plays with her."

We received a request from Colorado Kids Belong to create Thanksgiving baskets for kids about to age out of foster care. This is their request:
Dream Makers is a program of America’s Kids Belong. Dream Makers serves youth who have aged out of foster care or are likely to age out in the near future. Every year 23,000 teens exit the foster care system without a family to help them transition into adulthood. These youth were removed from their families, having experienced neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Dream Makers helps remove barriers that stand in the way of the empowered, connected lives these youth dream of having.
The Dream Makers project draws a community around youth who have no family to help them navigate the financial challenges of young adulthood like renting an apartment, getting their first car, clothes for a new job, or locating a reasonably priced laptop for school.
The holidays can be a lonely time for the youth when they don't have a family to go visit during the holidays. In past years Dream Makers has partnered with the county, local churches, and local organizations to host a Thanksgiving meal event for the youth. At that event last year the youth were so touched that people would do so many nice things for them and serve them. One of the youth was heard saying, "I forgot what Thanksgiving tasted like."
Due to limitations this year we are unable to host a meal. We are asking that the community continue to show love and service to our youth by donating a Thanksgiving basket.
Below is the list of what is needed in a Thanksgiving basket.
