Single mother and daughter working on their relationship. Mother has trust issues working with DCCCA. Mother recovered from severe COVID recently and income has not been stable due to side effects of covid. Mother lost her job after being sick due to mental health of teen daughter. Mother recently started a new job and has missed a lot due to severe health issues. As a result mother has not been able to provide for home. DCCCA is looking for a donor willing to pay for daughters apple IPAD repair @ I Break U Fix. The daughter's birthday was a couple weeks ago and due to health issues and finances mother was unable to do anything for her. Having this IPAD repair bill paid would be a blessing and gift to both mother and daughter. The IPAD charging port was replaced and is ready for pickup when payment is made. This mother has had a lot of trust issues working with DCCCA and assistance with this would allow mother to know she is making good choices in taking care of her health. Mother has a lot of anxiety about not working and paying bills as she has never been behind or late on bills. As a result, she tends to focus on these things vs. her and daughter's health concerns.

A single mother of 3 needs help to repair her car's alternator. She uses the car for her second job as an Uber driver for extra income, which is essential to maintain to keep up with the family's expenses. One of the children is on the autism spectrum and has regular mental health appointments. Mom is also caregiver for her mother who lives with the family. She has to drive her mother to her cancer treatments twice a week. DCCCA located a repair shop that gave us an estimate of $550 for the alternator + install. Thank you for you dedication to the families we serve!

We are working with a family that could use a hand up at this time. Mom had emergency gallbladder surgery, resulting in 3 weeks off work recovering without pay. Dad also recently took a cut in pay, so this family is struggling financially. They are currently $447.31 past due on their electric bill. This is causing the family a lot of stress, as keeping the electricity on is critical in preventing the removal of their child from the home. Any amount toward this need would be greatly appreciated and will be a preventative measure to avoid the disruption of this well-bonded family unit.

I am working with a single mom of 3 children with developmental disabilities and mental health issues. Mom herself has a life-threatening physical illness, making it impossible for her to work. She is expecting a settlement in the next couple of months due to the chemicals that caused of her illness. In the meantime, she needs help with replacing the furniture in her living room that was previously ruined due to children's incontinence issues. I am asking for waterproof furniture (pleather) that would allow mom and children comfortable seating to congregate. Any donations towards these items will be a huge support to this loving mom who is doing a fantastic job of raising her children despite her own challenges and theirs.

There is an NRKIN on my caseload who took in a sibling set of three, with the younger two being twins. Since taking these three children in, the foster mother has been incredible in getting the children up to date on medical appointments, and enrolling them in services. It is suspected that the younger of the twins may have cerebral palsy and had a stroke in the womb. This NRKIN has requested a care portal service, as the physical therapist for the twins (whom are under 2 years of age) has recommended a rebounder for medicinal and therapeutic use. The request is due to the family having multiple children, and this would financially help them out instead of paying for it out of pocket. Thank you for your time and consideration!

Single mother with a 6 year old & 3 year old lost her job awhile back. She has been trying to get childcare to begin working again. While in that process she has used majority of her funds for living expenses and has fallen short on rent. She is trying really hard to get back on her feet, so any assistance so that she does not potentially lose her apartment is greatly appreciated!

Single mom with 4 children is in critical need of a place to stay. She has triplets that are 6 months old and an 18th month old as well. She is getting out of a domestic abuse situation and will be out by the end of this week. She is a strong mother who is looking to turn her life around and get herself in a position to take care of herself and her children. We are looking to move her into a home that is very suitable for what will be best for her and her children. In order to do this, she is needing help to pay the rent. She has not been able to work due to the chaos that has been taking place. Paying the rent will allow her to move into this home and transition into this new life she has been hoping for.

Single mom with 4 children is needing assistance in paying rent. She has gotten behind because she has not been able to work due to her mother being in the hospital and then having to stay at home once she was out to take care of her. She is living paycheck to paycheck and needing help to get back on her feet. She is a great mother who is trying to take care of her children to the best of her abilities. Helping pay her rent would allow her to continue to take care of the needs of her children, like paying for food and other important necessities.

Mother and father with their 3 children (ages 7 months, 7 years, and 5 years old) moved to Kansas City from Houston recently and are homeless. We have been keeping them in a hotel for the past week and we are needing to extend their stay for an additional week so they have more time to figure out their next move. The parents are very dedicated in trying to figure out work and a living situation so they can go about and take care of their 3 children. We would love to bless them with another hotel stay for a week, and would appreciate any help!

We are presenting a request for funding to cover the cost of specialized therapy for one of our kids (age 16) who struggles with co-morbid disorders; they include Major Depressive Disorder and an unspecified eating disorder. Bert Nash does not currently offer this specialized treatment but the family has researched and found a provider here in Lawrence to address this client’s specific needs but the provider does not accept their only insurance; Medicaid. Client’s mother has obtained a cost of $150 per hour for this therapy and has determined an inability to cover this cost due to high cost of client’s significant orthodontist and vision care that is needed. Client was born with significant overbite that has affected their self-confidence and self-image which feeds their depression. Client also has very poor vision requiring trifocals at a very young age, this too contributes to client self-confidence and depression. The family is working hard to support client through treatment but are unable to also afford this specialized therapy. They feel obtaining a visit to this provider monthly for four months may give client the tools needed to prevent any progression of their potential eating disorder.

Please consider helping this young teen who has lost both of her parents recently. This young girl, has managed to keep herself from showing the impact of losing her two parents months apart from each other. We are coming up on the anniversaries of the deaths and it has brought alot of grief for the family but ESPECIALLY this young teen and her younger sister. We are hoping to help the grandparents with some giftcards for transporting her to a youth camp in Flint Hills to learn more coping skills and other important life skills to prepare her for life ahead. This camp would allow grandparents to step back, grieve theirselves, and help branch off the skills she will learn in the camp.

A female child (5yo) has been in out of home care for 2.5 years after being removed due to mother's substance use, mental health, and physical neglect. Her father was not in her life at the time due to having contact cut off by the child's mother. As soon as he found out his child was in foster care he contacted who he needed to in order to re-establish a relationship with his daughter. He also struggles with substance abuse but has tested consistently clean for almost a year. He is working hard to get his home in working order for her to come home to him but is struggling to make his home safe as it needs a lot of repairs and he is behind on bills. Having his electricity bill paid off will help a lot with this process and hopefully get the kiddo home in the next few months.
