A couple is expecting their first child in September. They are currently living out of a motel working minimum wage jobs. They are making steps towards better housing and better employment to support their newborn. The family needs help getting a new car seat and stroller, as they will need the car seat to safely leave the hospital upon the baby's arrival. There is a link attached to a car seat/stroller combo. Thank you for your support!
Car Seat/Stroller:
Foster parents (likely becoming adoptive parents!) are caring for a sibling group of 3 children who are quickly growing could use assistance with clothing funds. The children are all very active and participate in several sports and activities, which have fees for enrollment, equipment, and uniforms. Foster parents could use assistance with Walmart or Target gift cards for clothing/equipment, estimated $200 per child.

They could come shop at the foster closet located at Hopes Promise. They need to reach out to set up a time. We have clothing for all the children if that would help them

Single father of two children working on sobriety and reintegrating with his children. Father does not have transportation and bus lines cause the trip to be 4 hours round trip. Father is working on income, but could use assistance in the form of Uber gift cards in order to minimize his time on public transportation. $300 in Uber gift cards should cover 6 weeks of visitation with his children.

Single father of a 1 year old is working hard on reunification. He has a new apartment and is seeking a toddler bed (not crib convertible) with a mattress, and window guards for the 5 windows in his apartment. The windows are low and the child can already reach the ledge.
Five window guards are approximately $200 on Amazon, and a toddler bed with mattress is approximately $150 on Amazon.

Last month, a five year old little girl was placed with her great aunt, who is her current kinship caregiver. When the child was placed with the aunt, she arrived with an oversized t-shirt, shoes that were too small and one change of clothing that didn't fit. The caregiver is a single mother to 9 and 11 year old boys. The caregiver has bought her three outfits, which she rotates with every three days. She is hoping to purchase her a pair of shoes when she gets paid this week. The little girl could benefit from some new clothing - shirts, shorts, pants, summer dresses, underwear, socks, a light jacket, a swimsuit, and shoes. She wears a size 4T in clothing and size 9 in shoes.

DHS has been working with this family for almost three years and we are working with the parents on their second reunification with kiddo. One of the concerns DHS has is the past home the family lived in and still has their belongings in. Parents have new gorgeous apartment and no longer need to hold on to this home. DHS is able to help pay for a storage unit and parents have identified supports who are able to help them physically move things into the unit. Parents are in need of assistance with moving supplies (boxes, tape, lock for storage unit, cleaning supplies, etc.) and a gift card would be very helpful, helping them finally leave this past residence for good.

We are hosting our very first Thriving CommUNITY Fair on June 10th, 2023. This fair supports Aurora and surrounding area families by providing resources, information, and services to help them thrive in the community. Our goal is to provide them with their basic needs: food, clothing, health care, housing, employment, education, child care and social supports. This supports our two-generation (2Gen) approach of providing opportunities for and meeting the needs of vulnerable children and their parents together, and vulnerable adults and their caregivers together. Our families will receive the services that put the whole family on a path of economic security.
We are in need of volunteers to make this event a success. We would love for you to join us and share this event with your church! If you're available, please sign up to volunteer here:

Single mother with 4 children in her care, ages 16, 15, 14, and 6. The children are all great kids that help their mother so much. She has overcome so much with struggles with the children's father regarding domestic violence and drug use that she reached out to the county due to her worries about the children's father and has put so much effort into overcoming these struggles and continuing to keep her children safe. They were homeless for the majority of 2022 and managed to find safe family members and other ways to ensure her children had safe shelter. She is requesting a home camera system to help her, and her children feel safer in their home every day.

Foster Source regularly receives requests for non-certified kinship caregivers in need of safety items. Non-certified kin can become certified and receive much needed financial assistance just like traditional foster parents. One of the requirements for certification are safety items - 5lb fire extinguishers, cabinet locks/outlet covers, medicine lock boxes, and carbon monoxide & smoke detectors. We could use your help in getting these items so that when families make the request, we have them on hand to distribute in a timely fashion. If you are able to provide any of these items (in any quantity), they can be delivered to our office within the Adams County Human Services Building (Westminster) or we can arrange a pick up. Thank you for helping us with this frequent and urgent need!
Youth who has been in care since 2018 due to concerns of neglect in the home and sexual abuse. A has moved placements several times with different family and then most recently foster care. A's mother was deported to Mexico years ago and he rarely talks to her. His father, who lived in Mexico, recently passed away. A l is moving from foster care to a kinship home with his best friends mother. The kin provider wants to create a safe and inviting space for A. He has never had a room to himself before and is looking forward to having his own space he can take pride in. Bed frame, Mattress, Bedding and night stands are needed.

We have an amazing single foster mom who is looking forward to spending the summer with her foster son. They have lots of adventures planned but they are really looking forward to bike rides around their neighborhood. "B" is finally big enough to upgrade to a brand new bike but they could use some support from their community! This mama has already does so much and we are hoping to bless her and her sweet B with the ultimate summer gift - a brand new bike! We are looking for a boys bike, 12-14 inches. This one would work great but they are not picky:
This family is requesting two queen beds because they have had a flood in their home for the second time. The family is looking at over $4000 repairs in their home due to all the rain. The family had a flood a few months ago and had replaced some furniture in the home. Unfortunately, that was ruined again and is just looking for some help replacing this furniture.

Kinship caregivers are working on foster care certification, but have ran into some delays that are beyond their control. They are behind with some of their bills, and stated that getting help with diapers and wipes would be a huge help. Their grandson is 9 months, and wears size 4 diapers. A case of each would be super helpful.

This youth has been in the foster care system for most of her teenage life. Parents rights were terminated and it has been a struggle for this youth to get stabilized. We were recently able to find her a kinship placement and stabilize the youth, however she has no belongings of her own. This youth turns 18 in a few months and will then be a part of the Foster Youth in Transition program and is trying to get belongings of her own. The current placement does not have a bed and this youth is sleeping on the couch currently. The kinship provider is working to fix the basement, which just flooded adding a financial burden, into a room for the youth and is hoping for some help purchasing a bed for this youth so that she feels more stabilized and at home.

Biological father needs assistance getting new tires for his car as they are either wore out or have leaks. This father needs to be able to get to his treatment, visitation and Urine tests in order to be reunified with this daughter. A Wal-Mart gift card for tires or to Discount tire would work, or the client is willing to have tires shipped to his home. Updated on May 31, 2023 by an Agency Worker Father could still use help getting new tires as two of his tires have completely went flat.
