A set of grandparents have worked hard to help get their grandchildren out of foster care. They have completed all requirements to become licensed foster parents. However, due to financial restraints, they need assistance with obtaining two twin size mattresses so that their grandchildren can join their home. This family is located in New Castle County.

A young adult is transitioning out of foster care and into her first home. She is very excited, but needs a little help affording comfort items. She is in need of a queen size bed spread and sheets, a television, a firestick if the television is not a smart tv, a full body mirror, and a tapestry to decorate her new home. She is very much into “hippie” vibes, and would prefer the bed spread and tapestry to be multicolored. Her favorite color is yellow.
* due to safety reasons, this cannot be dropped off directly to client, but rather can be dropped off to our Newark location. Client does reside in New Castle County*

Susan:
I can buy the comforter and the sheet set. Can I purchase them on Amazon and have them shipped to a specific address? I am a teacher and it is hard for me to make deliveries during the day.

Thanks, Sue! This is great. You can send the items to the Children's Choice office in Newark. I need to find out who the worker is so that you can put it to their attention. - Jamie

Jamie:
There are resources made available from the community. We are taking the lead and working out the details. Sue Toms, from Gospel Life Church, will be ordering these items from Amazon and having them delivered to the Children's Choice office in Newark. Could I get a worker's name to attach to that order? Thanks! - Jamie

A pregnant mom and her 2 toddlers need financial help to move from their current dangerous housing situation. The mother was in an abusive relationship, that she has left, but is being threatened by the father, who lives close to her. She is fearful for herself and her children and would like to move to keep them all safe. She's not financially stable enough to leave her home. She owes money to a previous rental agency, who evicted her and several others during the pandemic. She hopes to get away from this dangerous situation, but needs to pay her previous rental agency so she can have some money left to move.
She and her children would also benefit from the encouragement and emotional support of a church body.

A single mom of 2 little girls, 3 and 4 years old, is struggling after the ceiling in her apartment totally collapsed on her little girl(s). She works full-time but has struggled financially and has no money to buy furniture and clothing for her girls. It was all destroyed. She is staying with relatives until she can find housing she can afford, but can not stay there too long. She was able to get summer clothes for the girls so now needs fall/winter clothes, coats, shoes, and toys. (4 year old): size 5/6 in girls/ shoes: 10 1/2 - 11. (3 year old): size 5T/ shoes: 9. Once she has an apartment lined up she will also need help furnishing it, including beds for all of them and dressers. The clothes and items for the girls can be delivered now, but the furniture will be contingent on when she's able to move into an apartment. Any help is appreciated during this very difficult time, and will help stabilize their living situation and keep them together.
Four children under the age of six were placed in their grandparent's care, by DFS, due to neglect. The children entered the home with no person or hygiene items. The grandmother is currently on disability and has reached out to everyone she knows for assistance with the items need including social media. Although the grandfather is employed, he is struggling to provide for everyone in the home since the children were placed. Children's Choice is assisting the family with completing applications for state benefits, but this process can be lengthy. The family is in need of the following items:
Twin bunk beds, mattresses, and bedding (bedding for 2 boys and 1 girl)
Any toys that are age appropriate (ages for boys 5 and 3, ages for girls 2 and 5 months)
Clothing for boys' sizes 5T and 6/7T (underwear, socks, 5-day time outfits, 5 pajamas)
Shoe sizes for boys 11 and 12 1/2
Clothing for girls sizes 6/9 month and 18/24 month (socks, 5-day time outfits, 5 pajamas)
Shoe size for girl 5 1/2
Diapers size 3 (preferably Huggies or Pampers as the children have sensitive skin)
Wipes
Cleaning supplies and laundry soap
Tall dresser
Baby food/rice cereal
Formula (Similac Sensitive Total Comfort)
Any assistance is welcome and appreciated
