Critical Need
Single mom with 4 children is in critical need of a place to stay. She has triplets that are 6 months old and an 18th month old as well. She is getting out of a domestic abuse situation and will be out by the end of this week. She is a strong mother who is looking to turn her life around and get herself in a position to take care of herself and her children. We are looking to move her into a home that is very suitable for what will be best for her and her children. In order to do this, she is needing help to pay the rent. She has not been able to work due to the chaos that has been taking place. Paying the rent will allow her to move into this home and transition into this new life she has been hoping for.

Critical Need
Single mom with 4 children is needing assistance in paying rent. She has gotten behind because she has not been able to work due to her mother being in the hospital and then having to stay at home once she was out to take care of her. She is living paycheck to paycheck and needing help to get back on her feet. She is a great mother who is trying to take care of her children to the best of her abilities. Helping pay her rent would allow her to continue to take care of the needs of her children, like paying for food and other important necessities.

Mother and father with their 3 children (ages 7 months, 7 years, and 5 years old) moved to Kansas City from Houston recently and are homeless. We have been keeping them in a hotel for the past week and we are needing to extend their stay for an additional week so they have more time to figure out their next move. The parents are very dedicated in trying to figure out work and a living situation so they can go about and take care of their 3 children. We would love to bless them with another hotel stay for a week, and would appreciate any help!

Mother and father with their 3 children (ages 7 months, 7, and 5) moved to Kansas City from Houston recently and are homeless. The job he came here for fell through. With this extreme heat going on, we are trying our best to keep them in a cool, safe living environment. We are looking to have them stay at a hotel for a couple nights until we can come up with a long term plan for this family. By helping them with a hotel stay, we can allow them time to figure out their next move. We would also love to help them with groceries and other necessary items!

A family of 6 is struggling to pay their rent this month due to a recent increase in other expenses. There are 4 children, 3 boys ages 14, 7, 1, and 1 girl age 6. They need assistance with food, clothing, and this month's rent. They have paid all the rest of their bills. Dad is the only one working so their budget is tight. Mom does not speak english as they have only been in the US from Guatemala for just a year. The children sizes are 14-16 boys, 7-8 boys, 18 months boy, and 6X girls. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

We responded to a CarePortal request for this family back in September. Bio family had just reintegrated with their two female children ages 5 and 4 and were needing help with rent and two dressers. We were able to connect on both of the needs and met this sweet family in person to deliver the items. Soon after, a car battery installation was needed and before we even had a chance to have one of our volunteers get over there to help, dad had already taken care of it himself. They have a strong desire to be independent. We have been staying in touch with them and they recently let us know that the vehicle had broken down for good. Thankfully, they have another car they can use if the past due payment on it is made. They are able to afford the monthly payments on their own, they just need help getting caught up. Any amount is appreciated and will help get them closer to self-sufficiency again.

As a previous worker at Children's Division I know first hand the stress and hard work these workers go through. I would love to spread some love to the local Children's Division office downtown KC by supplying them with an Ice Maker. This seem like a small thing but they have been needing an ice maker since I was there 2 1/2 years ago and even before then. They have an older fridge that they have some ice trays in the freezer but that is not enough for everyone to add some ice to their beverages. An Ice maker would be a huge blessing to these workers as they can grab ice and water on their way to their next visit. They could grab ice for the soda donated to them from churches. I have done some research on ice makers and have found a few that could work for their break room space. I am asking $500 for the ice maker and an additional $500 to help cheer up their break room adding new chairs, tables and items to make it feel more inviting and comfortable. These items could go a long way for these workers and just in time for the hot days coming up! Thank you!

A single mom with an 8 year-old boy and 9 year-old girl coming out of homelessness after losing disability benefits and are in major need of funding for utility bills. Dad is an addict and not in the picture and uncle on dad's side is helping them get stable. They are staying in an empty house owned by a relative of the uncle and he is paying their rent for now but they are living with no furniture, water or electricity. There are past due balances and activation fees on the electric and water that need to be paid in order for them to be turned on, totaling almost $1500, but any amount helps! We are hoping the CarePortal community can contribute some funds to help get the utilities turned on for this family.

Single mom of #4. No outside financial resources. A bullet went through window in their kitchen/dining area. Family does not had the funds to repair the window. When writer was talking to mom about financial difficulties, learned that mom did not get back any money from tax returns: in fact, she owes. Mom was counting on a return in order to pay car insurance, and get car tagged in April. She fears will not have funds for car costs and, driving illegally. She does not have amount needed to drive legally for writer at this time. But, I did not want to delay getting window fixed. Thank you for your help!

Foster mom has a large basement that was partially finished with a previous Care Portal request (materials got too expensive at that time, labor was not available). She wished to frame up the basement to create a playroom for children she takes in to her home. So far the walls are put up, but she needs assistance with drywall, electrical, floors, and finishing work. She has materials to work with and will purchase more as needed. She needs help with any part or all of this request. If anyone could help with even part of it, she would be appreciative.

We are working with a single mom with 3 children and has been homeless for about 5 months. She recently found employment and is doing her best to get back on her feet. Unfortunately her car has recently broken down and is at risk of losing her job. We helped her get her car in for an assessment and unfortunately the repair costs exceed the value of the vehicle. We are looking for a vehicle donation, or to raise the funds to cover the cost of an older Explorer model along with any additional costs for repair of the replacement vehicle. Reliable transportation is so critical to helping families regain and sustain stability; we would really love to be able to bring some good news to this mother. Thank you so much for considering this need!

We previously helped this family with light bill from a CarePortal Request (53051) - a single mom of an 8 year-old girl with severe anxiety and seizures, and a 6 year old boy with a variety of medical issues leading to immobility, obesity and developmental delays. Mom works literally around the clock to provide all of the extra care they need, on top of having her own medical issues she is trying to address for the first time in years. Since the original request, we have been getting to know the family and providing additional items as needed. Mom is very sweet, thankful and responsible and it has been a joy to support them. She never wants to ask for help but recently shared that bathing her son at his size is very difficult and taxing for her, and that having a special showered and chair would be a huge help and relieve a lot of the stress around caring for her high-needs son. Additionally, their AC went out over the Summer so we are looking for funding for a window unit that was provided to them. Thank you for any help you can provide!

The mother on this case has completed all services and is close to reunification with her son. The mother utilizing a car that her father provided her to assist with reunification but he is now wanting it back leaving this mother without proper transportation. The mother has a Jeep Grand Cherokee that has been sitting for a year. She has put in a new battery, alternator, starter, serpentine belt tensioner pulley and harmonic balancer. She changed all the spark plugs, put on new coil packs, new head gaskets and timing chain. She has put on a new cherry bomb straight pipe muffler, changed out 2 or 3 sensors. The drivers side inside door panel wont stay on and the cv boots and knuckles are bad on the front. The four wheel drive is in 2 wheel bc the joint and shaft busted and were removed. The shaft is in the back. the right tire is flat too. The mother makes about 1000 a month and is needing help with her car to make sure she is able to take her son to school, school activities and to his regular doctors appointments. The mother has tried everything she can to get the car working again but needs help to figure out what is wrong with it or to find a car she can afford on her own. UPDATE: Our team from New Life CityChurch helped assess the vehicle and have determined that the necessary repairs exceed the value of the vehicle. We found a 2014 Chevy Cruze with 66k miles worth about $6k-$8k available for purchase for only $3,000. We have $1,000 of funding from the original request (63649, We are trying to raise the other $2,000 to take advantage of this great opportunity to the purchase the Chevy for this mom so she can finally have her own reliable transportation for her and her son.
