The parents relocated to Dayton, Ohio from Hamilton County and had some problems finding employment and are unable to pay rent for May 2024. Mother and father both have recently obtained employment in the area and mother is working part-time and father is working full-time and they are working opposite shifts so that they do not have to have daycare for their 1 year old child. The have both been working just over two weeks. Mother is currently pregnant and due in June 2025. The parents have worked hard to obtain everything they need for their daughter and unborn child, but have been unable to save enough money to pay for the May rent due to getting caught up on bills and only having one paycheck each from their jobs. The rent is due on May 3, 2025.

A loving aunt has been caring for her nephew since his mother passed away in 2018. She only recently made it through the court process to obtain custody. She is working with OhioKAN to secure kinship benefits but she currently has a shut off notice for a water bill of $1343.57. She is self-employed at a hair salon and work has been slower than normal. Also, her older nephew, who is in his young 20’s and employed, had been living with her and helping to pay the utilities but moved out to start a family of his own. The Aunt has been calling MVCAP every Monday as directed to see if she can get support for this bill but keeps being told all the appointments are full and try back next week. She has called some churches who offered to pay $150 towards the bill if she could pay the remaining amount, which she just could not afford to do. She also filled out an application for PRC funds but has not heard back. She is very worried her water will be shut off and we are kindly asking for assistance with any or all of this bill to help her get back on track. She has started picking up additional jobs to increase her income and once the kinship benefits are on board, she will be back on track. We appreciate all you do to support kinship families!

This incredible aunt has been caring for her 13-year-old niece for the last year and a half. She has done everything in her power to provide normalcy for her niece during an otherwise tumultuous time. Aunt was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently going through chemotherapy. As a result, she has been unable to work and finances have become a huge source of stress. Her AES ($713.65), CenterPoint ($317.56), and AT&T ($802.13) bills are all past due and her phone (AT&T) was just shut off. She is trying her hardest to keep her head above water and any assistance toward these bills would mean such a great deal to this family!

A kinship family is in need of utility assistance, or they will be at risk of disconnection after 4/25/25. They owe a total of $443.27 at this time. $266.90 of the balance is for a previous address, which combined with what they currently owe at their new home ($176.37) puts them at risk. Caregiver has thoroughly explored all community resources for assistance but has not been able to secure help. Any help with this balance or a portion of it will prevent the family from being disconnected in the coming days. thank you!

Mother just moved into a new home. She also just had a new born baby. Mother had to throw away all her and her kids items due to not being able to have anyone transport them to her new home. Mother is in need of getting some help with getting new beds for her boys. I am requesting help with getting two twin bed frame, mattresses, and bedding for her two boys.

I have a family of a lower elementary student who currently does not have access to a car which is preventing the student from being able to attend school. This family is in need of uber gift cards or another form of transportation to provide for transportation to and from school.

Single father has taken temporary custody of his two year old daughter. He is trying to provide for her and work the case plan to keep her from entering foster care. He is in need of some assistance gathering up some things. He needs a high chair, diaper size 4, and wipes. He is also needing a bed set for a toddler bed. He is waiting on is food stamp case to be approved and could really use some help with food to get through. Cleaning supplies for the home would be helpful as well. This relative needs assistance with getting a twin bed to pass a future home study. Relative has to pay childcare and other expenses and doesn't have the money to buy a bed. Child is 7yr old girl sleeping on a couch in the living room.

A kinship caregiver has experienced some hardships in the month of March, which has led to difficulty coming up with her April rent. She works as a nurse’s aide and is paid when she takes shifts. Unfortunately, in early March she became ill and found out that she had contracted COVID. As a result, she missed two weeks of work. At the end of March, her car was totaled in a hit and run and she has not had reliable transportation. As she plans her next steps in regards to a car, she has been relying on an Uber to get to and from work. This additional expense is providing an additional strain on her already reduced income. Fortunately, CareSource has been set up to get her to the therapy and medical appointments for her granddaughter and grandson. Her April rent is $841 and she could really use support after such a challenging month. Any amount towards this balance would be helpful. Thank you for all you do for kinship families!

Father took emergency custody of his children. Father had to care for the children using bill money and got behind on his monthly bills. He has been transporting the children to and from school until transportation could be set up. Agency has referred him to a food pantry to help with food and household items. Father needs assistance with getting April rent paid. He has the children in daycare so he can work. Father just needs help this month. He has a three day notice to vacate the home.

Single mother has weekend visits with her son and is in need of a twin bed, bed framer, and bedding. This mother is currently not employed and is waiting for employment to come through so she is limited on income right now. With helping this single mother getting a bed it is in hopes of her son to come down to visit more often or stay longer periods of time. Thank you!

Single mother in need of rent assistance for April. Mother recently lost her job. Her son has some mental and physical health issues. Mother has had to be off work for multiple appointments for her son. She has no help. Mother is actively looking for employment. She is currently enrolled in online college courses. Mother is on course to finish in May. Any assistance would help greatly.
