We have a young mother that escaped a toxic relationship and is now having to learn how to care for herself and her children by herself. This mother is dedicated to bettering herself so that she can be the best parent she can be. One such thing is getting her GED and her drivers license. Thankfully, getting her GED has been covered but the mother is still needing her drivers license. She has had no formal training but wants to make sure she is safe on the road with her young children. Therefore we are asking for assistance in paying for her state minimum drivers education course at Cowboy Driving Academy which is $395 plus a $27 fuel charge. This will further ensure mother's independence and abilities to care for her family on her own.

Client in need includes natural mother and her two year old son. Natural mother is engaged in family time with her son and is dedicated to reunifying with him. However she does struggle with poverty and lack of transportation. She would love to attend her necessary treatment services but struggles finding a way to get there. Helping this mother with transportation via uber assistance would go a long way in ensuring she attends treatment which would assist her in reunifying with her son. Her and her son have a strong, loving bond so reunification for this case is key and lack of transportation right now is a major barrier.

Two foster children are entering new placement and are in need of a bunk bed, 2 mattresses, and bedding. The two teenage girls have moved around from home to home, and unfortunately do not have any sheets, blankets, pillows, or other bedding for themselves. Hello! I have a father who is in need of an assessment at DVIS! This father has fell on some hard times with his truck breaking down and losing his employment. Due to this he does not have the money for the initial assessment which is $95 dollars. I am in the process of getting him a bus pass but it would be extremely helpful if his assessment could be paid for as it is part of his service plan. If anyone is able to help out this Dad it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

My client is a single father who lives with his great grandmother and the grandmother has been paying all the bills while her grandson works his DHS case. His two, 2 year old twin children are in Trial Reunification with the father and he is a wonderful, loving father to his children. However, the father has struggled with maintaining employment. The great grandmother has supported him and the children for the past year and has run into financial struggles due to this. She has asked DHS for help with her rent this month. Her rent is $650. DHS is hoping two churches could split the cost and pay $325 each. This grandmother will do anything for her grandchildren. She is so embarrassed that she had to ask for help as she has always been able to pay her rent. Thank you in advance for helping this family.

Worker spoke with a biological mother who the department is working on reunifying a 15 year old child with her mother. Biological mother has done everything asked of her by the department which includes multiple UAs and services. All of this have been recommended and not court ordered. Biological mother is willing to do anything asked of her in order for her child to return home. She is needing additional assistance such as a dryer. Her dryer went out and she does not have the funds to buy another one. She is also needing a lock box and a medication divider. This is to help with her 15 year old daughter medication once she is placed in the home so that her daughter takes it as prescribed and not as any self- harm attempts like she has done in the past.

I am currently working with adoptive parents who adopted their son 7 years ago. He is now a teenager and has extensive mental health needs. While they are exhausting their efforts to help find appropriate services to address his mental health needs, they have also acknowledged learning more about parenting teens as a whole could be helpful for them in the future so their family can function safely. These parents have enrolled in Active Parenting for Teens, but do need assistance in paying for the classes. The class is $120 for both parents, so a total of $240 would help them get started. Any help is appreciated in getting this family back to a positive place. Thank you in advance!

In Kansas, there are 500 children in foster care waiting to be adopted. On Wednesday, September 21st, Kansas Kids Belong will have the privilege to film 25 of these waiting children through our I Belong Project in Wichita! Kids will travel in from all over Kansas to get a video done for their adoption profile. So you know, we don’t just ask the kids questions; we give them a special experience to be seen and heard, and best of all--have FUN! Would you consider coming alongside us to help make the day extra-special? There's lots of ways to get involved! We need help with food, people to volunteer, items off our wishlist, and a group to take the lead on appreciation gifts for the social workers. With our biggest need being a simple meal since we film right through the lunch hour. Check out our Amazon Wish List to order and ship directly to us or give directly to Kansas Kids Belong and we'll do the shopping! Did I mention we need man power? We need people to hand out lunch, help with crafts, and interact/connect with the kids to help them have their very best day! *A background check and signed volunteer agreement is required. With your help, Kansas kids will find belonging in families! How awesome is that?
