We began working with a family who relocated from Douglas to Arapahoe County. The family had been living in a hotel full time and after overcoming many obstacles, were recently able to move in to their own apartment. The three siblings (ages 9, 7, and 5) are currently sharing one mattress and we are hoping to raise funds to obtain two additional twin mattresses and frames to match the one the siblings are currently sharing. Your consideration is greatly appreciated! Links for the requested mattresses and frames are included below for reference:

Single kinship caregiver has been caring for foster youth for a couple of months. Foster youth is disabled and requires 24/7 care which means the caregiver is unable to work. She has fallen behind in rent and received an eviction notice. She will be certified in the next month or two which will help, and services will soon be in place for the foster youth so she can return to work. However, getting through this initial hump has been very difficult. We are trying to help this caregiver avoid eviction and maintain this placement.

This request impacts multiple families.

For more than 35 years, For The Children has been working through local churches to create life-changing moments for children in foster care (age 6 to 12) who have experienced relational trauma by equipping local churches to implement two signature programs: Royal Family KIDS Camp (RFKC) & Royal Family KIDS Mentoring. This year RFKC Arvada will host its 30th camp! It is a a week where kids experience what it's like to be a kid, to be able to trust adults through the volunteers, which they haven't been able to do in their short lives, try confidence-building activities that build their self-esteem, and learn and experience that they are valued and treasured and most importantly that they are loved so much by their heavenly Father. We have kids attending from Jefferson, Adams, Arapahoe, Denver and Douglas Counties. We have a specific need for at least 4 women and 3 men volunteers. Special Instructions: Camp is 6/26-7/1 and is an overnight camp. Volunteers must complete training on Fri (6/3) 6:30 - 9:00 pm and Sat (6/4) 9 am- 4 pm, an online application and background check.

We are currently working with a kinship family who are currently caring for a sibling set, one 7 year old boy they have adopted and his 3 year old sister who is currently in foster care with this child. Both children have high behavioral needs and require extra support and attention. The family is right on the cut off line to access benefits, however; they still have a significant need of financial support to care for 2 high needs children's. The kinship providers would like to work full-time; however, the need for child care for the 3 year-old prevents the mother from being able to work full-time. She was able to locate a summer program for her to attend until she starts preschool in the fall; however, the cost would be a significant strain on their finances. If there is any help the community could provide to assist with covering the cost of this camp, this would allow for the parents to work full-time and provide for their families needs. The camp costs $2,000 for full day camp for 8 weeks. The family is greatly appreciative of any amount to help cover the cost of the camp.

The children were moved out of their father's home and he will not provide them with any information so that they can activate their phones under their mom's name. The two kids are teenagers and living with their grandmother. It would be beneficial for them to have their phones so that they can stay in communication with their grandmother and mom who lives out of state. New phones would help significantly so mother can put the phone plans under her name.

This teen lost his dad in February due to health issues. His family is struggling financially as dad was the main source of income for the family. He is currently staying with a friend's family and is wanting to save up to buy a car and is requesting work pants (size 32x34) for job interviews. He is also in need of new shoes (size 10), pants (athletic please, size large), shorts (large), and shirts (medium) that he can wear to school and to work. Thank you for considering helping this young man. If finding specific clothing items is difficult, I believe a gift card to some type of sporting goods store that sells athletic clothing/shoes would be appreciated as well.

Place Bridge Academy (PBA) is a refugee school in the Denver Public School district located at 7125 Cherry Creek North Drive, Denver, CO 80224. We have over 850 students in ECE through 8th grade. The school is a designated Newcomer center. Only 15% of our students come to us with English as their primary language. Our students and families come from 50 different countries and speak 65 different languages. Additionally, 96% of our families qualify for free and reduced lunch. We are in the process of making our school lobby more welcoming as such would highly request your assistance in accomplishing our goal. We want to be able to teach our families how to register their children for school while providing a safe and comfortable environment. Being a refugee school, and with the majority of our families qualifying for free and reduced lunch, we do not have a functioning parent body/group that would contribute to funding needs. Consequently, we would appreciate your support in helping us redo our lobby to make our families feel at home, comfortable and welcomed in their children's school. The links below are pictures and cost of the coffee cart and the floor protectors we are requesting.

Help Support a Youth Aging Out
4
Normal Need
We received a request from Colorado Kids Belong to create Thanksgiving baskets for kids about to age out of foster care. This is their request: Dream Makers is a program of America’s Kids Belong. Dream Makers serves youth who have aged out of foster care or are likely to age out in the near future. Every year 23,000 teens exit the foster care system without a family to help them transition into adulthood. These youth were removed from their families, having experienced neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Dream Makers helps remove barriers that stand in the way of the empowered, connected lives these youth dream of having. The Dream Makers project draws a community around youth who have no family to help them navigate the financial challenges of young adulthood like renting an apartment, getting their first car, clothes for a new job, or locating a reasonably priced laptop for school. The holidays can be a lonely time for the youth when they don't have a family to go visit during the holidays. In past years Dream Makers has partnered with the county, local churches, and local organizations to host a Thanksgiving meal event for the youth. At that event last year the youth were so touched that people would do so many nice things for them and serve them. One of the youth was heard saying, "I forgot what Thanksgiving tasted like." Due to limitations this year we are unable to host a meal. We are asking that the community continue to show love and service to our youth by donating a Thanksgiving basket. Below is the list of what is needed in a Thanksgiving basket.
