The Department is currently working with a 17 y/o youth (f) who is working towards her independence and learning her independent living skills. This youth has been in care since 2021 and has struggled to stay stable in one placement and to experience stabilization. This youth is about to graduate from high school on May 13th, 2025, on time, as school was a priority for her regardless of her instability. This youth has experienced instability just two weeks prior to graduation and needed to cancel many of her prior appointments. This youth is not able to fund an appointment to get her nails done which she was looking forward to, to feel good for one of her biggest accomplishments. This youth would love nothing more to have money to get her nails done! Anything and everything is so appreciated to help this youth feel as special as she is walking across the stage!!!

We have four children needing birth certificates in order to help facilitate a kinship placement and are need of funding for these certificates.

a newborn baby girl is in need of a crib, newborn diapers, and infamil neuro pro formula (yellow can). the baby was placed in a kinship home with her half brother and was born just last week.

A family of 5 is need of diapers. The children are 10 male, 8 female, and 3 female. The family is asking for size 4T diapers. Anything is helpful, Thank you!

The Department is excited to celebrate the graduation of 13 students this year!

These students have worked tirelessly to navigate the difficultly of being involved with DHS, maintaining passing grades (some with numerous placement changes throughout their high school career), and have achieved the high honor of earning a high school diploma! We are reaching out to the community and asking for any assistance with providing gift cards to these students in order to celebrate their achievements!

My provider is a single mother who currently has two of her own biological children in her home and also fosters another through EPC. My provider shared that her work over-scheduled employees for the work week and had asked her not to go in. My providers shared that this has caused her financial stress and is need of assistance from the department. My provider shared that she would need assistance with groceries. The completion of this request would ensure that we are preserving this kinship placement and are proactive in assisting our kinship providers.

I have a kinship foster family that has two young girls placed with them. It has brought to the caseworkers attention that the kinship foster family has been facing some financial struggles recently. On top of that it was shared that the family needs a new toddler bed for the youngest child placed as they had to get rid of the old one she was sleeping on, as it was broken. With the fulfillment of this care portal, it will be ensured that the child has a proper place to sleep as well as lessen some of the financial burden that the family is going through..

Mom is currently transient but has been very communicative with her team with the available resources she has. She is engaging, as much as possible. Unfortunately, the phone she had was stolen so she has been unable to speak directly with her team. She needs a phone and service to be successful with working towards reunification with her 4 month old son.

A father of three (boys 6 and 4, girl 2) cannot keep his phone on and therefore cannot stay in touch with his treatment providers and is unable to communicate with his family time supervisor. This is impacting his ability to find better work, stay engaged with his children, and work towards reunification. A $50 phone card would be so helpful to this dad and help him stay on top of changing schedules and reunite his family. Thank you for your generosity!

The Department is working with a family with a 1-year-old boy. They are currently in need of size 4 diapers and unscented baby wipes. The father recently switched jobs and the mother recently lost her job after missing work for mental health reasons. She is currently interviewing for new jobs. They are struggling with this expense as a result. The mother has completed her treatment and the father is in compliance with every aspect of his treatment plan, fully unsupervised with their baby, and nearing case closure. Assistance with this need so that the family can keep their child in home as they work towards case closure is greatly appreciated!

Hello Community Supporters! We are holding our annual Kinship/Foster Parent Appreciation Celebration in June 2025! Kinship families are unique in that they take placement of children on an emergency basis who they have a prior relationship with in order to prevent children from being placed in the foster-care system. Placing children with family or friends often reduces the trauma children go through when separated from parents and it strengthens the natural familial and community supports they already have in place. Families do this with little to no ongoing financial support, yet they make it work everyday for these precious children. Foster families are such a need in this community and they open their homes to children with no where else to go. The Kinship/Foster Care Unit is hoping to be able to provide gift cards through a raffle to each family at the event in the amount of $50 for grocery stores, Walmart or Target, or other locations in town where items for the family can be purchased. Another option is to provide specific items to raffle off to the families such as fun activities for the children or gift baskets, be creative!

A father of a 1-year-old boy is working to gain employment and stability so that he can safely reunite with his son. He doe snot have an income yet, so staying involved and making progress is difficult for him. A phone card would help him keep his phone on, gain employment, and stay involved in his baby's case.
