Single mother has had two children removed from her care previously due to mistakes in her past but has a newborn and a chance to right her wrongs. There are no concerns with the safety of the newborn in her care currently and mother has everything she needs for the child. Mom moved into a new apartment which has a bed for her but nothing else. She is requesting help getting the basic furniture with a couch, tv stand, dining room table, and at least two dressers. We are also requesting a gift card for food and gas to help her through until she can get her girl into daycare at 6weeks and go back to work. This is the first time she has had her feet underneath her and is excited to be moving forward. Please help ensure she can do so comfortably with her littlest blessing!

Family of three adults and nine children (ranging from infant through teens) heats with kerosene because their rental home's heating system is broken and the landlord refuses to fix it. They have looked but have not been able to find other housing in the past year. The family is now down to two days' worth of kerosene, and can buy only two cans at a time at $30 per can. Each can lasts one day between the two kerosene heaters. They have utilized local agencies for other aid, and have been referred again to Central Virginia Alliance for Community Living to check on weatherization services. Previous calls to CVACL were not returned, but they could benefit from insulation that would preserve their inside heat. They reside in a 5-bedroom double-wide trailer.

Family is currently in need of assistance with their Webb oil bill. They don't have the fund to pay the whole amount at the moment as dad is the only one working at the moment. Mom stays home to take care of the children. Oil is the main source to heat their house and there is not oil left in the tank. Please consider this family, anything can help to assist them.

Two young moms are living together and are new to Roanoke. They both have a young boy of their own and are in need of diapers, wipes, clothes, and a crib. One baby is wearing size 18-24 month clothes and size 4/5 in diapers. The other baby is wearing 2T and wears size 4 in diapers. This is a single mother taking care of three children. She recently gave birth a few months ago to a boy. The mother works two jobs in hospitality, and she did not receive maternity care due to the industry. The mother stopped receiving child support from the two older children's father, and the other father is not present as such. The mother's son has early kidney disease and has been receiving care in MD as he was born out of state, and therefore she attends services there for the baby. The baby is having surgery this Friday, and the mother has been struggling with being able to work when her child is considered high medical needs. This mother's service providers put in a SSI application, however that won't take place till January of next year. This mother applied for fueling assistance but won't be accepted till the end of December. Her utility bill is 484.31 and she faces disconnection on 11/28/23. I requested that she contact all financial agencies in the area today, but it will take time for her to hear back from these providers. She needs help, she needs support, she needs a prayer and thoughts that everything will be okay with her son. Please consider helping this mother :)

Single parent is the only one earning income for the household of 3. The mother is currently on medical leave and received a disconnect utility bill for $1036.78. The mother stated that she did not receive any utility bill except for the disconnect notice. The mother has contacted AEP; however, they cannot assist with any funding assistance. She also attempted to contact RAM house and Salvation Army and is pending a response. Disconnection is set for this week. The mother contacted 211 Virginia for general resources but reported that she did not have much luck. Would anyone in the community be able to assist?

This family consists of a mother, step-father, and 4 year old child. Step-father just started a new job but has not been paid yet. Mother lost her job about a month ago and is still looking for a new one. The child is special needs with some challenging behaviors and is in services, which can make it hard for the family to maintain steady employment when having to take time off for service appointments and such. Mother is currently pregnant with her second child and has some of her own mental health challenges and is under a lot of stress. The family is behind on rent and they need to catch up to prevent possible eviction. This request of one months rent would be greatly appreciated to help the family maintain their housing and reduce some stress so they can focus on maintaining the child's special needs as well.

I am working with a newly single father who had not been able to work due to health conditions from this past year and their household relied on the mother's income. He attempted to get a job in the past few months but his arthritis was so debilitating that he was unable to continue working with that family member. With the side jobs he had been trying to work he was paying his landlord lot rent little by little. With the mother out of the home he is currently working on getting benefits and the house stabilized. This past week he was placed responsible for his other 2 children while their mother is incarcerated for a short length of time. His son is out of the school district that he lives in, therefore he would need to drive him back and forth to either the school or the maternal grandmothers' home to get on the bus. We're asking for assistance with paying some of his lot rent down and getting a gas card.
