This is an urgent request. We have a young mother who has 5 minor children (9 years old and under). Mother just gave birth to her youngest child 2 weeks ago. Mother was Court ordered to be at Children’s Court with the children on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. The mother is able to transport herself and the children to court but is in need of a gas card in the amount of $75.00 to assist her with transportation to/from court. The Department’s recommendation is for mother and children’s case to close next.
Urgent! The child, 7 month old girl, was removed from her mother and placed in the care of her father who is homeless. The weather in Palmdale is below 50 degrees at night. The father would benefit from assistance with a motel stay/housing and baby clothes. The father is in need of assistance with locating and paying for the first and last rent for an apartment or room for rent. The father is the primary caregiver for his 7 month old daughter, which has been challenging due to not having permanent housing. Although, the father is having this challenge, the parent/father is meeting the case plan goals/court orders and is enrolled in the father strong parenting program.
Furthermore, the father is committed to continuing to provide care for his infant daughter. During my work with the father, I have identified the following strengths: Loving father, Advocate and consistent. The goals for the father are to locate permanent housing, child care and get DCFS out of his life permanently.
For these reasons, I am advocating for the father have the need identified met. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is because the father is caring for his infant daughter and no family should be homeless during the holidays. Which is the main reason, such as, in order to provide a safe environment for his child. For the father to be assisted with locating housing ensure child safety, improve parental capacity, and enhance the potential for permanency.
A homeless, expectant mother and her three children need clothing, diapers, and shoes. The family is living with relatives because they have no income or place of their own. She is a Guatemalan refugee who came here to the U.S. to improve her children's lives.

Mother - Shirt - S, Pant - 3 petite, Shoe 6
Girl (13): Shirt 10/12 (girls), Pant 1 (Jrs.), Shoe 5
Girl (5): Shirt 6, Pant 6, Shoe 10

If possible a bike for mom to be able to get back and forth to work in the meantime would be super helpful, if possible.
6 children were successfully united with grandparents after being separated for 2 months. The Grandparents are not receiving payment for caring for the children for another few weeks. They are need of help with food and hygiene products until they receive assistance from our Department. This helps the family stay connected and celebrate the holidays together until they are able to be reunited with their parents. Parents were able to successfully obtain their own place, but need assistance with some furniture for the children to be able to start their overnight visits and to be able to return home to a safe environment. Parents have been successful in completing their services. The children are looking forward to being able to reunify with their parents successfully. I am currently working with a single mother of six children. Family went through a rapid relocation and were only able to retrieve clothing items and small personal necessities from previous home. Mother recently received placement into a new home, but unfortunately due to rapid changes mother does not have funds to purchase twin beds for her children. Parent is in need of four twin beds and a twin bunk bed. Due to current status, children sleep on an inflatable mattress on the floor. Mother hopes to receive beds during the holidays to bring a sense of joy into her children's life's after these difficult times. Mother is working on utilities and additional furniture for their house. Receiving four twin beds and bunk bed would help mother with additional support in stability. The help will provide another level of comfort and support for the mother and family. Receiving beds will assist family to have a safe and warm bed during these cold nights and will help the house feel like a home to them. Thank you in advance for your consideration in supporting this family, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Single mother of three is in need of a case of diapers size 4, a case of wipes and toilet paper. Mother is struggling financially and is doing as best she can. Perhaps a $50.00 gift card for groceries would help mother with food for the holidays. Mother completed her case plan, and the children are at home.

Working with a parent who is part of the DCFS workload, the worker reached out for a bit of assistance with his mother's situation. We helped create a plan that ensured the mother/minor's safety and well-being. The family is currently homeless and living in their car. Mother has stage two cancer and custody of her children. DCFS is currently in the process of securing stable housing for the mother. However, it will be two more weeks before the family can move into their home. As a result, the worker reached out for assistance in any way she needed, such as paying for a hotel room. DCFS is able to provided coverage for a week. And we are wondering if someone might be able to cover the second week which would be 11/28/2023 through 12/05/2023. The cost is $99 per night, a total cost of $693 for 7 nights. She is currently at the Bellflower.

A three year old boy is approaching overnights with the father to reunify after the agency became involved due to allegations of neglect by the mother and father. The father has made significant progress in following through with his case plan goals and court ordered services. The father has been applying to new positions as he currently has two interviews scheduled. The father has been doing small jobs in the meantime so as to continue to have some type of income. The father has had the support of his family whom have provided food and other utilities for him. The father has also reached out to local churches and or free produce (fliers) the undersigned has provided him with. The father is in need of $500 for his November rent. If granted the funds to help with one month’s rent, the father will be able to catch up with rent and continue to make his payments afterwards, thus enabling the father to continue to progress, be able to provide stability for the child, and continue with liberalizing the father’s visits to overnights by the end of the month and eventually reunify.

This family has been participating in the SHIELDS Family Preservation program since September 2023. The mother of two small children are requesting assistance with the purchase of a highchair, a walker, and a large toilet training seat. The 10-month-old infant was born prematurely, so he is developmentally delayed. A highchair would benefit him in being able to sit and learn how to feed himself. Additionally, a walker would benefit the infant in being able to strengthen his leg muscles, as he prepares to learn how to walk. Lastly, a large toilet training seat is being requested for the 2-year-old toddler, as she is overweight and unable to fit in a standard toilet training seat.

Hello, I am making this request for a family of 9. This family recently reunited and the Department is working on stabilizing the family. The mother was provided housing by the Family Reunification Program, and is in great need with assistance to furnish the home. Previously, the mother and the children were living with the maternal grandmother, which was causing a lot of discomfort, due to there being a large amount of people living in the home. The children have stated they are thrilled to be living in a home for themselves, and are looking forward to making their new home, feel like home. The mother is currently employed, but is only making enough to support the children and additional bills. The children's ages include: 15, 14, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 5. The mother is hopeful she can have a large sectional couch, in order to be able to sit the children during family time.
A child that is five has been reunified with his father. He and the father sleep in the same room. The father is currently rebuilding his life as he now sleeps in a twin bed. The family is requesting a toddler bed and mattress for the youth so he and the father can sleep comfortably.
