I am working with a youth who has intellectual disabilities. When she gets upset, she has been struggling to calm down. Her therapist thinks it would be helpful to set up a calming corner with comforting and sensory dampening items that will help her calm down and start to teach her the skills she needs to be able to self-regulate her emotions. The therapist feels that a 20 LB weighted blanket and some noise reduction earplugs would be very helpful for this space. The noise reducing ear plugs would also be used when this youth is out in the community learning skills like grocery shopping, so she would need to be able to hear someone talking to her when wearing them.

The family is going to have their electric cut off due to an outstanding balance. The mom paid the minimum due but still needs 195.00 paid to be current. The mother is working three jobs to try to make ends meet. She recently had to turn down a better paying job to be able to coordinate pick up of her children from school and child care. The family recently started trial reunification and needs help getting on her feet while taking on her three children in her home.

Foster families only vehicle is currently in the shop at Kevin Grover as if broke down on the turnpike last week. Foster family could use any help as the repairs are going to cost them $7,100. This family has 3 children that are very active in school and the littlest one has to be able to be taken to daycare as both foster parents are working full time. Any help with this would be appreciated by the foster family.

High Urgency Request
This request would help a family of 6. The children have been in the same non-paid kinship home for some time now. The families AC/Heating unit isn't working properly and they have been told they would have to purchase a new unit at any moment costing around $8,000. I understand this is a big request, if there are any companies who could offer a second opinion to ensure the family doesn't have another option. As the weather changes and it gets colder this is a concern for the family. The family has continued to love, care for, and provide for the children despite the different obstacles they have been faced with. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a family of five on my caseload that recently moved into their own rental home. The parents have been working very hard to be able to provide their three children with a space of their own. The family is needing a couple common household things, such as a washer and dryer, bed frames and mattresses. The family was previously staying with other family members, so they did not have furniture or appliances of their own to take with them. The family would be appreciative and grateful for any help they can get. The parents are both working full time jobs while also attending all of their required services.

A grandmother and her two grandchildren are dealing with the death of their grandfather several weeks ago. Plans to buy a new stove and washing machine were upended by the costs of the head of household's funeral. The grandmother is asking for assistance with getting a new stove and washing machine into the house for the welfare of the children as finances are running short. There is income from different sources, but the closeness of events has hurt the family's savings. The appliances do not need to be purchased if reliable replacements could be found. Assistance would be greatly appreciated at this time.

Bio mother is living in a camper trailer while she waits for housing to become available. The bio mom is close to starting reunification with her children. However, her water heater has broken and is unrepairable. An electric water heater would allow her to better manage her electricity usage and it would be hot water on demand rather than a tank which could potentially leak again. She is disabled and unable to work more than a few hours a day. She has a pending disability claim with social security but that is not a fast process. CWS Hutchins has found a unit on Ace Hardware website EcoSmart 2.6gallon 1440 watt electric water heater for 189.99.

Mom lives in Texas and has made great strides to get back on track and has done so. She is currently taking care of her other child safely and financially and has paid off all her debt to get back to Oklahoma. The child recently lost his only other family member (grandmother) in which the child had a strong bond a couple of months ago from organ failure. Mom has secured the money for the Uhual; paid off all outstanding debts and has the funds for the 1st months’ rent on the new apartment in Tulsa; but is just short of the deposit. The kiddo has been placed in a new foster home and bio mom has attended and participated in all services with OKDHS, including making a complete lifestyle change to do so. I have a family of 2 adults, and 5 children ages 9, 12, 13, 15, and 17. The younger 3 children report never having beds to sleep on. They report sleeping on air mattresses up until this last week when they popped, to where they are sleeping on tile floors with a blanket. The family needs assistance with beds, mattresses, sheets and pillows. Assisting this family getting mattresses will help these children get a good nights rest to thrive in academics, sports and day to day life. Christmas is coming up and would make their Holiday season special!

A family of 3 is in need of help. The family is currently working services while their 2 year old is staying with friends. The family is struggling to not only be able to see their child, but also to make it to appointments and to work as their car is unreliable and they do not have the funds to fix it. Mom is pregnant and is working to help support her and her children while Dad is also looking for a job. Bus passes for these parents would not only help them make it to the appointments for their pregnancy, but also to work so they can continue receiving care and services and so they can see their kiddo while they work on getting her back home. Please help this family get back on their feet and support them in their time of need.

A developmentally delayed 17-year-old girl who lives in a group home would like a TV and DVD player for her bedroom. Watching TV is a positive coping mechanism as it helps her relax by refocusing her attention. Having a TV in her own room would allow her to avoid arguments with the other girls over the communal TV and give her more of an incentive to disengage and regulate herself in her room when she's overstimulated by the activity in the home instead of becoming reactive in a negative manner. At the group home, there is no cable or streaming capabilities, hence the need for a DVD player. We've included links for combo TV/DVD players below to simplify her setup but would accept separate devices as well. The primary limitation is that the size of the TV cannot exceed 32". ###-####401?pd_rd_w=RsLUR&content-id=amzn1.sym.116f529c-aa4d-4763-b2b6-4d614ec7dc00&pf_rd_p=116f529c-aa4d-4763-b2b6-4d614ec7dc00&pf_rd_r=0G1KX2JXKWJ9WQK2WR3N&pd_rd_wg=IgmxO&pd_rd_r=c1f37793-fe96-4dba-be93-5aed1662bdea&pd_rd_i=B0C85PS4ZS&th=1
